Really?

Even if he is not evil - which I do not concede - he is deeply dangerous. Describing the current situation for Jews in this country as problematic because of a “perception” of being unsafe is irrational. I don’t know whether everyone should keep re-tweeting his irrational takes so he can damn himself out of his own mouth or ignore him to starve him of publicity, but his rhetoric promotes hatred along with that of his party.

DrinkPupKitDrink · 30/04/2026 12:42

No they didn't kick him, they'd struggle to get the knife of him though it made the police look a bit badly trained.

Imagine being Jewish and going about your day in good old England and being killed for belonging to a faith and or ethnic group.

Someone I know was seriously beaten by Police walking home from his night shift as a firefighter in the late 80s - he looked suspicious obviously because he was black. He sustained injuries which put him on light duties (ie not saving people in fires) and eventually got compensation. More recently a Sikh woman was raped and subject to horrific abuse because the attacker though she was Muslim.

I'm not in any way excusing the attack yesterday but nobody should be subject to violence or abuse because of their religion or ethnicity. Imagine being Jewish and going about your day in good old England and being killed for belonging to a faith and or ethnic group. Imagine being anybody that happened to.

CrispyK · 30/04/2026 12:52

I suppose Zach would have tried to get him to give up his weapon through hypnosis?

The Greens no longer represent anything “green” and are a threat to the security of this country. Just look into their deputy leader if you need confirmation of this.

ArtAngel · 30/04/2026 12:53

Hoardasurass · 30/04/2026 12:41

Because he still had a weapon ie the knife he used on his victims.
Also its standard training (in the military atleast) to use your hands to secure your own weapon and your feet to subdue the enemy/attacker if you dont want to shot them or no lethal tactics like a taker have not worked as in the case of this terrorist

Thank you - that's interesting and makes sense

I did watch that video and thought what on earth are they kicking him like that for.

So I don't know whether he's evil or not but they shouldn't have kicked him no matter what he did. Once they had overpowered him.

That’s what they are trained to do - he had not dropped the knife and they were concerned he might have a suicide vest. He was already known to Prevent.

JohnBullshit · 30/04/2026 12:35

I have no sympathy for violent offenders, but I don't believe the police should join them by kicking the shit out of someone they've already apprehended.

They didn't "kick the shit" out of him.

zzplei · 30/04/2026 12:54

Everanewbie · 30/04/2026 12:46

He had a knife in his hand and refused to drop it. They should have shot him dead.

They weren't armed police.

"Look around the eyes, not into the eyes, around the eyes, not into the eyes....you are feeling sleepy...Give me the knife...And you are now a D-cup, you're welcome"

I'm not sure I'd call him evil. He's a fantasist snake-oil salesman and does the green movement a huge disservice. His policies are ill informed and idiotic, and I'd drill holes in my own teeth before I'd vote for him.

But evil - that implies capability.

Agreed. The Mr Polanski, who used to make a living by offering hypnosis for breast enlargement. I'm in Scotland so I'm aware that the Green Party moved away from being a responsible environmentally based party years ago.

Don't carry a knife then you wont get your head kicked in.

If you're carrying a knife and you don't drop it when asked by the police, then you won't get your head kicked in.

Hope the officer's boots are ok.

Polanski showed his privilege, his ignorance and his disregard for the police, law and order. He also showed that he don'ts care about people in Golders Green feeling safe. He is Jewish himself and apparently none of his family are talking to him. What a muppet.

glitterpaperchain · 30/04/2026 12:55

I keep seeing people really clutching at straws to try to put down ZP and the Greens. People obviously think they have a good chance of winning if they're reaching like this.

We've had 2 recent by-elections, Greens won both. They're going to do very well in May.

zzplei · 30/04/2026 12:51

He's not 'evil' and hyperbole like that's fueling dangerous levels of discords.

I saw the footage of the police kicking the offender in the head (one officer did it repeatedly, 3 or 4 times, the other did it once). It is serious and I interpreted it as the officers being out of their depth because of lack of training/experience so resorted to blunt force (and swearing) - an emotional response rather than demonstrating control and knowledge of how to disarm someone. I don't blame them for that - they're normal police officers, not firearms officers. You can practice using a taser against a pretend suspect but it won't prepare you for a real life situation you might face only once in your career.

How should officers disarm someone lying on the ground after being tasered? I don't know and it's obvious those officers didn't know either. Perhaps hitting the suspect's arm with a baton? But kicking the offender in the head certainly isn't the right method and the Met should review the training they give their officers.

See Hoardasurass's explanation above

The police are trained to kick someone in the head? Really?

TheignT · 30/04/2026 12:56

Well so far today I've heard the police did nothing and he was managed caught and restrained by volunteers, police were too violent, police did the right thing . So that's all clear.

I find Zach frightening and an idiot.
personally for me the police were incredibly brave in that situation, a terrorist whose hands they can’t see when he’s on the ground and wearing a backpack, and they did what they needed to do, I’m grateful for their bravery

PlumPuddingandGravy · 30/04/2026 12:56

It’s just staggering that when confronted with a situation where a violent offender has gone on an antisemitic knife rampage, people’s first thought is the police going over the top. I just can’t square how that is some people’s observation.

KTheGrey · 30/04/2026 12:56

Blimms · 30/04/2026 12:33

It’s bad because normalising kicking a suspect in the head is dangerous for us all.

No - kicking an armed suspect who has just attacked two people with a knife is bad for armed suspects carrying knives. I agree it looks terrifying but it’s a trained response to attackers who don’t drop the weapon.

CurlewKate · 30/04/2026 12:57

The whole point of a rule of law is that there are rules. And the police kicking an overpowered and secured suspect is not following that rule. However appalling that suspect is. Which in this case is obviously very.

You disarm them by kicking them in the head. Their hands open (weapon dropped) to protect their head. It's a reflex action controlled by the amygdala. The police officers were obviously highly trained.

Really? He was a terrorist. What should they have done?

Probably shot dead if the police had been armed
