AIBU for having a pint with breakfast in town?

Just back from a trip into town to meet my friend for breakfast.

We went to a well known pub chain - both had a fry up each, washed down by a coffee and a pint (Guiness for me, cider for my friend).

DP has declared that very out of character and not a great way to start the day.

AIBU?

I have never met you, therefore your academic achievements you like to bang the drum about are completely irrelevant. No-one singled you out, I was merely talking about my own personal experiences.

No. You referred to someone like me as chavvy riff raff twice. Id just like you to explain why you think I'm a chav and riff raff because I occasionally go to Wetherspoons. I'm not banging any drum. I'm challenging you on your opinions that seem to do nothing but look down your nose at other people

I did my last degree when I was suicidal after being stalked and harassed for over a year. I did one of my post grads after I left a job that was breaking my health.

You know nothing about me either - you stay in and make your delicious food - and that's fine. But don't look down your nose at other people you know nothing about

Nope. I didn’t refer to you personally at all. As I have already explained, I gave my opinion based on my own anecdotal experiences.

You called everyone who went in a spoons chavvy riff raff. Twice.

I expect your comment will get deleted @SpryTaupeTurtle, but good for you! I agree with you entirely.

Good. I'm fed up being name called because I'm working class and very occasionally drink in Spoons. My ex has a family who were worth millions. He has police officer pals. Quantity surveyors - but they are riff raff because they drink in Spoons

We used to drink in Wetherspoons regularly and my husband is a retired quantity surveyor 😆. I much preferred the company in Wetherspoons than poncey city pubs. And I always enjoyed eggs Benedict for breakfast when we were out early - it tasted every bit as good as other cafes and restaurants at three times the price.

I live in a medium sized town and there are few options apart from Spoons. I do support other pubs but I won't sit and be called a chav for going into one

My mum is 77. We maybe go to Spoons 4 times a year. She speaks five languages. She's doing a degree just now with the ou. My brother is a Pt. Has a degree. Very well read. Are we chavs as soon as we set foot in Spoons?

As I said before I took my mum out last week. 16 quid for two glasses of wine would have been 8 quid in Spoons

You have nothing to justify. People make stupid, lazy assumptions with absolutely nothing to back it up. Our local Spoons is lovely, staff are really friendly & drinks great value for money. I've rarely seen any trouble. The last time was about 4 years ago, it was a woman trying to hit another woman & the staff swiftly kicked her out

they serve bottomless
mimosas at brunch and no one thinks that is strange. I don’t really see how that is different than a pint.
