Just out of curiosity. I have friends who didn’t celebrate at all, but I also have some friends who are going on special holidays etc.

Had just had my first child (few weeks old) , so we went to the pub for tea!

Wittering2020 · 18/04/2026 20:48

DS1 was 7 days old! I remember crying into my birthday curry 😆 Same DS is now almost 18 and have spent the day at a Uni open day with him. Time flies

Sallywag134 · 18/04/2026 20:51

For my 30th I threw a big party in a local social club then brought most of the party back to my house until 6am 😳 For my 40th I went clubbing in Ibiza with my husband and 10 of our mutual friends. For my 50th my husband and I went on a cruise. I’m only 51 so not thought of my 60th yet lol

ForgotWhatIDidYesterday · 18/04/2026 20:52

I had twins. I’d cried on my 29th birthday because I’d always wanted children before I was 30. I got my wish and my twins were 3 months old (born a month early) I think we had friends around for a chilled out party on my actual birthday.

cadburyegg · 18/04/2026 20:52

Went out for dinner. I was pregnant with ds2 but it was touch and go for awhile (“threatened miscarriage”) so I was filled with anxiety, I barely remember that birthday at all!!

ThatWaryLimePeer · 18/04/2026 20:54

I watched Shakespeare in Love at the cinema, I was expecting my third baby.

StickChildNumberTwo · 18/04/2026 21:01

Went to Go Ape and then for dinner with a bunch of friends, all pre-kids although I think one was pregnant so joined us for the meal.

rainbow9713 · 18/04/2026 21:08

Boris Johnson shut the whole country down on my 30th birthday 🤣🤣.

Ardram · 18/04/2026 21:08

Absolutely no idea now, about the specific day.

At that time though I was living with my first husband (separated but fairly amicably, no kids) so was in process of selling house and prepping to move to the other side of the country (where I still live now many years later with second husband) so my 30th was just background noise.

It was a working day during the week, so I settled down with a special bottle of wine. Then I took an unexpected call from the lovely German I'd met on a school exchange when I was 17 many years before and always loved. We got married 18 months later.

Just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary.

Happyholidays78 · 18/04/2026 21:31

My son was almost one, so he, his dad & I went to a hotel for the night in a pretty village & had a nice meal & spent the next day by a river with a picnic.

Catladywithacat · 18/04/2026 21:35

Went to novikov mayfair not excited as I been there before but stayed in a hotel opposite beautiful room, breakfast ect

a week in Thailand or even Spain would have been better though!

Dymaxion · 18/04/2026 21:36

Nobody really celebrated turning 30 as a big birthday when I was that age, obviously they celebrated their birthday but I think its only fairly recently that its been a thing to see it as one of the 'big' birthday celebrations. Not that I think it is a bad thing.
Lots of things now weren't a thing when I was younger, such as Prom, baby showers, gender reveal, Christmas eve boxes etc

Susiblues · 18/04/2026 22:02

Had my daughter on the Monday and my 30th was on the Friday and the midwife forbade me from even pushing the pram to the end of the road but this was 46 years ago. I expect things have changed since.

Summerbay23 · 18/04/2026 22:09

Nothing exciting, DS was 1. We may have had a meal, I honestly can’t remember, definitely didn’t have a night away or anything fancy but that was fine with me.

Tunnocks34 · 18/04/2026 22:10

Nowt I was in hospital attached to a drip for HG.

Rhaenys · 18/04/2026 22:12

Nothing. It was during one of the lockdowns.

MrsBuntyS · 18/04/2026 22:17

Got divorced. My husband left a few days after the party that I’d organised myself. He gave me some corn holders and a gift set from Bodyshop on Waterloo station. I’ve never looked back!

VK456 · 18/04/2026 22:26

Nothing!

FettchYeSandbagges · 18/04/2026 22:28

My mum died.

Earlyyearsteacher · 18/04/2026 22:32

I was 41 weeks pregnant and doing a 24hour urine sample. The joys.

Maraudingmarauders · 18/04/2026 22:33

We did a UK city break for mine and had a Michelin dinner. For DH I hired a luxury vintage car he’s always wanted to drive and we stayed in a country hotel for the weekend and did some bird of prey handling. Both cracking weekends. 40th will be harder as will have two kids in tow.

Rhaenys · 18/04/2026 22:12

Nothing. It was during one of the lockdowns.

My DP’s 30th was over lockdown too. We had a weekend away to celebrate once lockdown was lifted though

Got snowed in so DH and I couldn’t get to my birthday meal with friends.

HappyMuma · 18/04/2026 23:04

House party, then a weekend away with friends
