Would you come to my “birthday “ get together?

I haven’t had a proper birthday party (with acial friends) in like 10 years, but I feel like I now have enough close people to invite (4).

the problem is that they don’t know each other, and one in particular has never met any of them, and I’ve never been out with her before (she’s my “school mum friend”) . Would it be weird to invite her? Would it be awkward for her?

I know I’m overthinking this, but I’ve never been in this position before.

So have you decided that it’s ladies only and a night out at a restaurant? If so get those invites out !

lets call them T I C J

T+ I = have met multiple times and they tolerate each other

I + C = have met twice and they like each other

J = I think maybe has met T and I many years ago, but even if she did it would have been a quick intro, they definitely didn’t chat.

No, they couldn’t afford to come here, it’s not like it’s only £100, we’re talking at the very least £1000 and a 12hr flight!

No, I’ve known all 3 of them (including the SAHM) for between 8-4 years, it’s only the “consultant” that is a recent friend.

and it’s only this year that I feel 4 friends is a decent enough number to celebrate my birthday

You need to pay for it all OP, including their transport and new outfits etc

I mean the salaries a lot lower over there, £1000 was probably back then like 2 monthly paycheques, it’s not a simple ask.

and I had been here what like 12 years here? But I had moved around so never really made any decent friends. Things have changed a bit, so I now I could go to London and have a proper night out with my London based friends, but I’m not London based, so that’s a moot point.

Yeah but I’m not you…. I could just go out with my best friend (she understands me the most) so I guess that could be an option too, but I genuinely also really like the SAHM (and we’re actually good friends) and the “consultant”.

but the 3 of them still wouldn’t not gel as group I don’t think.

Good for you. Delighted you have worked it all out and can now look forward to it all. Remember everyone who takes up an invitation will feel obligated to turn up and socially contribute to the evening - so don’t worry about that. I hope you have a wonderful time and well done for doing something for yourself!
