Oh and I know someone who went off on extended sick leave for ‘mental health’ just because they hate the job. They’re currently travelling and relaxing, on full pay. They plan to exhaust the 12 weeks of paid medical leave, return for a couple of weeks around the July 4th holiday when it’s pretty quiet, take 2 weeks of annual leave then hand their notice in and not do any work in their 2 month notice period. So basically get paid for doing nothing for a total of 6 months. All planned out.

I normally don’t support this kind of piss-taking but this workplace DESERVES it. 🙂

Is that in the US, since you mention the 4th July holiday?

I work in a role that requires me to monitor and audit ICT use and storage etc. I was drafted in to do some searches related to an HR investigation about bullying by a director.

I didn't find evidence of bullying, but I did find the director's creative writing that he was doing on work time.

My colleague's father is not his father. The father was affair partner and the colleague as a child was regularly wheeled out to be shown off. AP also paid all private school fees. Not sure how the mother explained that away!

Guy across the road is a real fitness fanatic, as is his wife. But every Wednesday afternoon, without fail, Dominos turns up with two large pizzas when I know he’s home alone, working. A few hours later, he emerges with the boxes and puts them in the bin, having polished off the lot. His wife is non the wiser.

If you ever seem him out exercising, do you have the temptation to shout "Domino-ooh-ooh"?

My sister’s son is the result of a long running affair with her business partner. Both of them are married. Neither spouse knows. She often takes her son to meet her business partner and his children in the park.

I would hate to know that! I do not think I could live with the guilt of the pain for the child and who he thinks his father is.

my mums famous home made steak pie that she’s often asked to bring to extended family gatherings is actually from the local butchers. She buys it and very carefully transfers it to her own pie dishes 😂

Brilliant!!

Your sister is a horrible person.
I don't know how she can live with herself.

So is the Dad. Takes 2.

StrandedStarfish · 09/04/2026 08:02

My SIL realised that her dad wasn’t her biological father through a school project on blood. She asked her parents what blood group they were, and years later when she was pregnant found her blood group matched neither of them.

My DSis had my wonderful DN 23 years ago with donor sperm. Both she & BIL have no intention of telling DNiece at all, as 'Her dad is her dad & it won't change that'. Well, yes, but i think she should know. She's training to be a doctor, so I wonder if she'll work it out somehow via medical information as BIL gets older. They're super close & it bothers me she doesn't know.

How would she work it out

assume they used the same blood group for donor sperm

How did you find out not her pie?

Whatafustercluck · 09/04/2026 08:21

My bil cross dresses in private. My 17yo nephew has begun doing the same. Only my dsis and me (and my dh) know about bil. She found out a few years ago because a number of her items of clothing went missing. It all gives me the ick tbh.

Omg! 😳

You might have us all beat already

Going back over 80 years, but.....my FIL had 3 sisters. Two were very outgoing and got married, the other (call her Jane) was quite quiet and shy (may have had unacknowledged mild learning difficulties). She lived with one of the sisters and her family. She was seduced and abused by her BIL, unknown to his wife. Jane became pregnant, and when asked by her sister who was the father, told the truth. She was thrown out and never spoken to again by that sister (who stayed married!). Other sister and brother helped her. She kept the child, bought a Woolworths wedding ring and called herself Mrs, and supported herself and him by doing cleaning/housekeeping jobs where she could take baby with her. He never knew who his father was until his mother died, when he discovered his two cousins were in fact his half-siblings. He is still alive, and quite philosophical about life.

One of my married work colleagues is openly having an affair with another colleague. They hang out and chat at work, go for breaks together and lunch together. They are both vile people and you can't say anything negative work related to either of them or the other will jump on you. They both think they are the highlight of the department and their manager panders to them.

The management know all about it.

I've asked to move departments because I am not being a bystander to this.

My friend had an affair with her boss and had a child who looks exactly like the boss not her hubbie. She eventually 10 years later had a son with her hubbie who looks exactly like him. Luckily the daughter was blonde like mum and son was dark like hubbie. She eventually moved to the island and has no contact with ex boss who didn't know anything either! How people can do this shit is beyond me! But, she loves her money and stayed for the moola

Stillfatstillmiserable · 09/04/2026 08:39

I worked for a very large national company. There was a young woman who was a real party girl and constantly late in/ hungover. After a couple of years of this she got the sack.
10 years later she got another job with the same company (managerial this time) in a different town. she never declared her previous employment and sacking and somehow the company never connected the dots. I can only assume it was because she’d got married and had a surname change…

A housemate from uni is still with the same boyfriend she had when I knew her. Really sweet guy. We’re now nearing 40. She’d put off having kids for ages when a few years ago he told her he really wanted kids and if she didn’t he’d like to move on and find someone who did. So she said ok let’s try for a baby.

Unbeknownst to him she continued to take the pill while “trying” for several years. Then pretended she couldn’t face IVF and cried it was probably all her fault because she’d had an eating disorder and he felt too bad to push it. So they’ve now given up. I feel so bad for him.

That’s awful. Poor bloke.

My neighbour, who is a pillar of the community in his 60s, is an utter sleazebag who makes disgusting passes at any young woman he comes across. I'm sure his wife - also a pillar of the community - doesn't know. (And no, he doesn't have dementia. This has been going on for years)

Oohhh I like this 🧐

I once found out years ago, that an ex colleague (married woman with two kids), was actually in a polyamorous relationship, and they all lived together.

It turned out that there was
"Husband"
Wife no. 1
Wife no. 2, who was also Wife no. 1's sister!
Wife no. 3
Wife no. 4, who was Wife no. 3's sister!!

They all lived together in one big house, and there were children with three of the wives.

And the best part?
He didn't work, he stayed home, whilst all 4 wives went out to work, and they all kept him!
He must have been living the dream.
And these women were all professional intelligent women. Think, nurse, teacher, vet type thing.

Still blows my mind when I think about it 🤯🤯

Literally couldn’t live like this! I don’t think I could control my rage if it wasn’t my turn for…well! You know!

Some of what I have read and I’m only up to page two (😬) is mind boggling! Poster with the sister who has a baby to another man and they know but her husband doesn’t, what a horrible situation and I’m actually horrified that no one has been honest with the poor guy who believes the son is his own. I don’t think I can keep a secret like that!!

IndigoBlueMauve · 09/04/2026 08:47

My sister’s new home was used by the previous owners to store drugs.

I’m not allowed to tell Mum! 🤣
