Blimey! Do you feel safe living next door to them?

I found out that my neighbour (a lovely woman, just turned 40, very pretty and sporty with 3 kids and a lovely husband) is having an affair with the head teacher of the local high school where she started a job last September. I am 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 nothing like that ever happens around here. I have heard from 2 separate sources. Part of me is fascinated part horrified. The poor husband. Those poor kids. I don’t know what to think when I see them outside. Does he know? Both cars are in the drive. Are they still a family?🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

My sil kissed her husbands brother - I know as I saw them- it was last summer after a barbecue. They were wrapped around each other and honestly once The kiss stopped the look they give each other let me know it’s not a once off. I’ve told no one and they don’t know I saw.

sometimes thats the thing with emotions and attraction etc

A couple in our street are about to open a swingers club. It’s about 40 mins away. I’ve known for years they were involved in that scene, but others locally are likely just about to start finding out as the opening gets nearer.

There are some people objecting to it (even though it was already a swingers club until it closed for sale and refurb and was so problem free some of the objectors didn’t even realise it was there!) and I think they’ll be mind blown when they realise that the owners - who they seem to be picturing as some wild pair wandering around naked and being inappropriate are actually the very normal couple from down the street

Villanousvillans · 09/04/2026 00:40

My cousin is having an affair with a married man. They have a daughter who has just started school. Her mum and dad know, and don’t seem bothered. In fact we all know and everyone just acts like it’s normal. It definitely bothers me.

mrsCtheRed · 09/04/2026 00:41

Oohhh I like this 🧐

I once found out years ago, that an ex colleague (married woman with two kids), was actually in a polyamorous relationship, and they all lived together.

It turned out that there was
"Husband"
Wife no. 1
Wife no. 2, who was also Wife no. 1's sister!
Wife no. 3
Wife no. 4, who was Wife no. 3's sister!!

They all lived together in one big house, and there were children with three of the wives.

And the best part?
He didn't work, he stayed home, whilst all 4 wives went out to work, and they all kept him!
He must have been living the dream.
And these women were all professional intelligent women. Think, nurse, teacher, vet type thing.

Still blows my mind when I think about it 🤯🤯

Crushed23 · 09/04/2026 00:45

I’m an expat on a non-transferable visa (tied to my specific job, if I quit I have to leave the country) which has led to being treated like a second class citizen at work in some respects. Little do they know that I am due to get married to a citizen this summer and I will be applying for permanent residency straight away and will have the right to FUCK THIS JOB OFF and work anywhere.

But for now I am smiling and keeping quiet. 🙂

Oh and I know someone who went off on extended sick leave for ‘mental health’ just because they hate the job. They’re currently travelling and relaxing, on full pay. They plan to exhaust the 12 weeks of paid medical leave, return for a couple of weeks around the July 4th holiday when it’s pretty quiet, take 2 weeks of annual leave then hand their notice in and not do any work in their 2 month notice period. So basically get paid for doing nothing for a total of 6 months. All planned out.

I normally don’t support this kind of piss-taking but this workplace DESERVES it. 🙂

03cg73 · 09/04/2026 00:52

my mums famous home made steak pie that she’s often asked to bring to extended family gatherings is actually from the local butchers. She buys it and very carefully transfers it to her own pie dishes 😂

I can't even imagine!
The womam I'd worked with (no. 3) was such a quiet, sweet woman who wouldn't say boo to a goose.
Thats partly why I was so shocked I think?

That’s some seriously impressive grooming skills that bloke has.

He must have, but I can't imagine how.
I met him once when he picked her up from work, and he was just a little, beige middle aged man.
Must have oozed charisma when he turned it on....🤔

Is it religion related? If so, what religion?

Oh you’ve just reminded me. A horrible company I used to work for, most of the competent staff have left because of how toxic it is. current (patronising narcissist) managing director has no clue what he’s doing.

One of the only 2 people who are keeping the company afloat is currently on the sick (full pay for 6 months 💃🏻) with no intention of going back and the woman who is literally the one holding the company together has accepted a new job starting in August and will also be gone. No one knows and due to her role, the information she knows and has access to she will need to be put in gardening leave as soon as the hands her notice in

like you said, the owner and current MD deserve everything they have coming to them

patooties · 09/04/2026 01:08

We were talking about this this weekend - a friends uncle has died and had 4 children (adults now) 3 to his wife and one to her sister.
i then remembered a couple I knew who were raising her sisters two children - the husband had fathered one of them during their marriage.
it’s not common but all of us knew of an example where the father of the child was either the brother of his SIL’s kid or the mothers were sisters.
I guess sibling rivalry doesn’t always end at childhood.

I know someone who was the innocent spouse in this kind of situation, believing the child was his until he discovered the truth. It was utterly, unalterably devastating for him - it sent him on a very destructive spiral and he’s not the same person any longer. It was awful to witness.

Edited

Same for the child, when he inevitably finds out through ancestry DNA testing or whatever. Shameful behaviour on the part of the cheating spouse.

I work in a dagis (Swedish nursery). One of the married Dad's made a pass at my friend when she temped for him. He was quite persistent and constantly inviting her on dates. Next week my friend begins work in the same as his section his 18 month old daughter. Dad does drop offs, mum does picks up. My friends will be shadowing the morning handovers as they are keen on new staff getting to know the parents.
