AIBU to want cafes to be dog free after grandchild was bitten?

What to do? Took my 12 year old gc into a cafe for lunch today, and a dog
snapped her ankle as we walked by. It drew blood. No idea why it picked on her.
She did nothing beyond walking in the door.

The dog owner 'fled the scene' as it were. Made a hasty exit while he had the chance and everyone was looking at the injury.

Wouldn't it just be better if we kept dogs out of what really should be an exclusively human area?

The argument that "they are allowed here so suck it up" is wearing thin.
We are all very fed up of your dogs in human spaces. The vast majority of us would prefer a dog free space.

We're all sick of it, tbh. Dogs aren't people and shouldn't be compared to or treated as people. Most people get that, to be honest, the vast majority agree with you. It's just on here you have the dog nutters gathering.

Think most of us dog owners, know dogs are not people.

I have never thought my dog is human. Never.
In fact, she is not even a dog anymore. She is ground up bones in a cardboard tube on my windowsill.

Sorry to hear about your dog.

Onleemoi · 06/04/2026 13:26

You all need to stop treating humans as if they’re dogs if you’re putting a lead on them and sitting them under a table in a cafe.

No they don’t. A dog is always the owner’s responsibility. That’s why responsible owners have insurance.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t bear responsibility as well. Negligence in allowing an aggressIve dog on the premises to bite your customer perhaps? I know bars have been sued when one customer has been injured by another, as a comparison.

How mature, and nothing real to add. Just insults.

You are a nasty piece of work. Not really surprised you don't like dogs. I only know one person who dislikes dogs and she is weird and pretty nasty.

Just waiting for Theoryofmind2026 to come back with her pathetic comment

Seems the only thing she can think of to say which says a lot about her really

Is your finger stuck on that reply

Theoryofmind2026 · 06/04/2026 13:35

So yeah, as I said - the vast majority are absolutely sick of the dog nutters. You can't talk to them so don't bother trying.

Unrelated, I often carry Deep Heat Spray for muscle pain.

I have no issue with people who don't like dogs. They can't seem to stop at just not liking dogs though. They then have to come up with insults about people who have dogs too.

I don't like kids, but I have no problem with parents.
