I am just horrified Charles and Camilla are going to US ? Does anybody else feel the same way. ( I am sure they are not relishing the thought either 🤣).
Likely British “soft diplomacy’ and they are going at request government.
Trump has crossed a line into fascism .. there is a point at wish you draw a line in the sand and I think the current US regime is the line.

The US is a democratic country, and a major ally. The Government requires the King to go.
Whilst we may not like certain elements/people in the US, the King and Queen are visiting the nation to celebrate the 250th anniversary of their independence from us. They are not visiting just one individual.
I'm sure King Charles will handle the whole visit absolutely correctly and appropriately.

We had the Taoiseach visit him for St Patrick’s Day and I was incredulous. I don’t know if government leaders think these visits will do something that will change things but to me it seems incredible that they think there’s any point to them

gaonimsc4 · 04/04/2026 23:51

I kind of agree. Russia invade Ukraine and we rightly cut as many diplomatic and financial ties as possible. America kidnaps Venezuela’s president, practically starves Cuba, threatens Greenland and starts bombing Iran and we barely tut. It’s such a double standard.

OnceUponATimed · 05/04/2026 00:07

YANBU its so embarrassing.

likelysuspect · 05/04/2026 00:10

He hasnt got a lot of choice I wouldnt have thought, he has to be a political.

I would hardly think they're looking forward to it

IdaGlossop · 05/04/2026 00:18

The UK's relationship is with the USA, not Trump. A dreadful ordeal for C&C but it gives me some pleasure to know they will behave impeccably no matter what Trump does. No visit would risk Trump bellyaching to the world about how the UK had disrespected him. At least we'll be spared that.

TellMeWhatToWear · 05/04/2026 00:35

Trump is appalling, but given Prince William just went to Saudi, I think the nature of the government is nigh on irrelevant.

They must be bracing themselves for how embarrassing Trump will be though. What I wouldn’t give to hear their unguarded thoughts after!

LittleTown · 05/04/2026 00:39

I’m not too pleased they’re coming here to visit us. Charles, with his disgusting mother helped cover up Andrew’s sex crimes for years. The family paid off his victim. We have enough problems of our own without inviting more bad people here.

BiteSizeByzantine · 05/04/2026 00:40

We are all going to die of Cringe.

This, exactly. Trump is just a temporary pimple on the face of the US and will soon be gone. The state visit is about much longer term relations between two nations.

Trump is in awe of Charlie-boy, just because he's a king, which is obviously how the Orange Shitshow sees himself.
However, I really wouldn't be surprised if the clown embarrasses himself by criticising the UK while giving one of his 'stream of bullshit' speeches.

I acknowledged our own bad people by saying we don’t need more from other places visiting us, but yes, you can keep your Royal Family who are full of sex offenders, liars, scammers and adulterers.

comfyshoes2022 · 05/04/2026 01:43

Recent royal visits have included Kenya, South Africa, etc. They go a lot of places where the government has some bad aspects.

Donald Trump himself is also heavily implicated in the Epstein files. Why isn't he personally being called to account on it?

Oh, wait! It is him who is deciding what is redacted from the files as they are released.

The Royals certainly aren't perfect, and I am not the supporter of them that I once might have been.

You can keep your Donald Trump though.

wombat1a · 05/04/2026 02:04

The UK Govn has to survive another 3 yrs of Trump, sending Charlie and Cams over to give them perhaps a few months of easy life with Trump is worth it.

Yep. Trump will be out of office in a few years, but speaking as an American, I would never forget it if Charles and Camilla refused to come to the US.

DulciUke · 05/04/2026 03:12

Hopefully, King Charles will bring Trump a tacky gold award. He is easily swayed by shiny things. Feel sorry for the royals having to put up with that demented nutcase. Apologies from the USA.

You might want to read up on what the British have inflicted on the world in the past approximately 300 years. The damage and suffering far outweighs anything the US is currently doing.

Here is some reading to get you started:
