To hate it when the clocks go forward!

Not helped by the fact that I stupidly arranged an activity this morning at 11 a bit of a drive away, so we’re all on a schedule.

I’m going to feel out of sorts until October.

I’m a natural night owl and the sense that we’re on the wrong time never really leaves me.

I’d so love if we had a period of time when the clocks go back an extra hour, where we’re an hour behind GMT rather than either on it or ahead of it.

I don’t really care if I am BU tbh!

I've woken up this morning feeling really draggy.....the cats are convinced they are owed two breakfasts due to the time changing!!

ultracynic · 29/03/2026 10:02

Not unreasonable to dislike the clocks going forward, but totally unreasonable to think it will affect you for six months.

Just go to bed earlier tonight and crack on as normal tomorrow.

Davros · 29/03/2026 10:02

I couldn’t understand why I felt so tired when I woke up at 8am. If I’d remembered it was really 7am I would have gone back to sleep

SnugTiger · 29/03/2026 10:04

Opposite for me - I love it!

Middletoleft · 29/03/2026 10:04

I "slept in". It gets harder every year. Tomorrow is going to be a killer, especially at the weather here is so grey.

midgetastic · 29/03/2026 10:04

I just wish they wouldn’t change at all - don’t mind where they leave them just leave them alone

ShowOfHands · 29/03/2026 10:07

Fortunately, my cat can't read the time so she accepts that her food arrives as normal and doesn't question. I sort of operate the same principle.

I'm also a night owl but the time on the clock won't change that either. Nothing has actually changed, only the way we measure time.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 29/03/2026 10:07

I feel tired for at least a week & am the same when the clocks go back. It’s nice to have lighter evenings though.

Ha ha - say you have no concept of being a night owl without saying it.

Yes so we have to do everything an hour earlier for the next seven months (it’s not six, it’s seven)

Pre-kids I used to feel strange when the clocks changed but now I am just feel tired all the time anyway and it was nice this morning when the kids woke me at 6am rather than 5am!

FuckaboutFindout · 29/03/2026 10:11

Nooooo!!
Woohoo!
So happy 😜

SilverPink · 29/03/2026 10:12

It affects you for six months? Blimey, how do you cope with an overnight long haul flight?!

FruAashild · 29/03/2026 10:12

Hannah Fry posted a reel yesterday basically saying all the clock change does is cause accidents and health issues. We should stay at GMT all year round.

Whosthetabbynow · 29/03/2026 10:13

Hate it. Hurry up October

SomedayIllBeSaturdayNight · 29/03/2026 10:13

For three years in the late 60s they kept it at BST and didn't change back, you'd have hated that op!
Really interesting to read why we change the clocks at all - turns out it has no advantages and causes a spike in fatal road accidents and heart attacks!

2chocolateoranges · 29/03/2026 10:14

I just don’t understand when people say the clocks changing affects them.

just carry on as normal.

It’s not the same thing as constantly living on the wrong time for where you are

I might be joining them

I LOVE the clocks going forward!

but I feel dreadful this morning. I'm not well & barely slept, so it's probably just that.

I have to have something early so I can take my medication, but I might channel your cats & have a second breakfast of peanut butter on toast & coffee.

thank your cars for the suggestion 💕 while you get their second breakfast!!

Callmebubblesdarlingeverybodydoes · 29/03/2026 10:18

I’m not bothered about the time change but I’m deeply unhappy that it’s now light in the morning when I get up and light when I finish work.

ultracynic · 29/03/2026 10:19

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 29/03/2026 10:08

Ha ha - say you have no concept of being a night owl without saying it.

I’m a total night owl, was still awake at 1 when the clocks jumped to 2, and yes I feel like I’ve been diddled out of an hours kip.

So tonight I will be tired a bit earlier than usual and will go to bed a bit earlier than usual, and will catch up over the next couple of days. Six months to adjust is batshit!

tulippa · 29/03/2026 10:20

I hate the way that I get a few weeks of early morning runs when it's starting to get light and then it goes dark again! I always feel robbed when the clocks go forward. I'll get used it to but it's an inconvenience. Agree with PPs that we should leave it alone.

ShowOfHands · 29/03/2026 10:23

I just don't understand how it's the "wrong" time. Time remains the same. It's only the number on a clock that is different.

As an adult living in the world, you have commitments which revolve around the clock and you show up to them accordingly. If I have a meeting put back an hour or public transport is cancelled and I have to get a different bus an hour later, I just do it. The natural world and its circadian rhythms march on regardless. Part of living in society is following its expectations. Outside of this, I follow my body clock as its whims dictate. I never stop and angst over what the "real" time is. Time is illusory.
