AIBU to ask if you have a mumsnet twin

I’ve noticed that there’s one particular poster who almost always likes or agrees with my posts on a thread.

I use a few different usernames and post on threads about a variety of topics - politics, bad husbands, hen do dramas, inheritance, general life issues and all sorts of random things. I just notice this same username popping up all the time (there’s a second who I notice agrees with me very regularly, too).

Clearly we’re very similar and think the same way about a lot of different things. Just wondered if others have noticed the same.

YABU- I’ve never noticed a particular person always agreeing with me.

I’ve got the opposite!

There’s a poster and as soon as I see their name, I can almost guarantee I’ll disagree with what they’re saying.

This is a good thread OP. Thank you for starting it. Its nice to have an opportunity to address posters directly who have made me think, helped me learn and develop my own opinions, and generally make MN a place I enjoy.

Yes, likewise! We once agreed on something and I had to doublecheck my own post in case I’d suddenly turned into an underthinking Tory trad wife.

That made me laugh.
Once I accidently agreed with one of the regular MRA NAMALTERS by clicking agree instead of quote. I hadn't realised then that you could undo your reaction, so hoped he wouldn't notice.

We’ve all got those. I have several.

Weirdly, they stick in my brain more if they are Words Separated By Capital Letters than if they are alllowercase.

My usernames vary between the two types?!

There was one poster on here previously that seemed to agree with virtually everything I ever posted more than anyone else, but I haven't seen that poster for a while - either liking my posts or posting stuff of their own. I really hope that they are just taking a break from MN and that nothing bad has happened.

They might just have name changed. I only let people on a long running thread know when I namechange, everyone else would be clueless.

Of course some people have a very distinctive style and opinions that makes them instantly recognisable even with name changes. At least I hope it's one person with two names because knowing there was more than one person like that would be depressing.

I have to say this, though it's nothing to do with this subject - your username made me do a big guffaw. Very clever.

I have one who often likes my posts, and I like theirs. There's a link between our usernames that makes me wonder if it just makes our posts stand out more to each other

Yes I’d noticed this. There are a couple of posters who seem to have the same approach to life as I do and we tend to give similar advice. I just assumed that we have similar values and life experiences. I’ve named changed a few times and they haven’t so it’s easier for me to notice.

I’ve also been absolutely shot down a few times by different posters and not noticed them again so I don’t think I’m being stalked! They were so vile they were probably removed. I try to be honest but not unkind and I see a lot of others doing the same.
You’ll always get some who are just having a bad day or nasty for the sake of it but I scroll past them.

There’s one poster who I remember because she seems to have lived a bit of a parallel life - we had babies together and were in the same field of work, which we both left at similar times. That’s what I thought when you said MN twin.

I did notice one time when two threads were running on S&B and one poster and I were vehemently agreeing on one, and vehemently disagreeing on the other!

There are a lot of posters I recognise, usually agree with and find they agree with me. There are some I know immediately I'll lock horns with - we've never agreed on anything and I've been here a lot of years.

I have a lot of user names. Sometimes I forget which one I'm logged in as, so I'm neither use nor ornament.

Me too - I use about 4 interchangeably too! I could maybe name half a dozen?

Over the years ive had plenty of MN bullies and 2 stalkers, but no twin.

I use the same username mostly, unless its outing, which is why I get stalkers 😄😅

There must only be a small pool of mumsnetters using the site

I don’t look at peoples names so I’d have no idea 😅

I wonder if this explains the big rise in AI posts recently and almost duplicate threads started by different nicknames.
