To think male posters get a hard time on MN?

Just an observation. Whenever there’s a comment on a thread or a thread started by a man it seems to be viewed with suspicion or the poster gets a hard time/is always disagreed with etc. It seems some MNers are pretty hostile towards men on the site. Made me wonder, what do you think of men who post on here?

OP posts:

If they get a hard time hopefully it chases them off. Unlikely though.

I don’t care if MN is for parents and not just mums, I don’t want them here. They have the whole fucking internet so leave us one bloody website free of them.

Fully agree.

JustGiveMeReason · 19/03/2026 17:38

I agree with the OP.
I quite often come across threads where the answers would be very different if a woman had posted.
There are a lot of bitter women on MN, as well as the many many witty, intelligent, helpful and indeed downright hilarious ones. But there are some who will automatically berate a man just because he is a man, or automatically agree with a female poster talking about something that has happened just because she is female.

The misandry on this site is shockingly sad. Whenever I stick up for a man on here by a downtrodden wife, i get accused of

  1. Being male
  2. Being a misogynist
  3. Being a C#&t
Now I know there are a few horrible men out there (i've encountered them) but on this site in particular the misandry is of the scale.

Is this a joke?!?

dadtoateen · 19/03/2026 21:12

When you read some of the replies on this thread, kinda answers the question.

majority of posters on here are obviously female and that’s fine in many respects.

to generalise that men are bad is not totally fair but of course my opinion will be in the minority.

can’t say I have posted about my wife not wanting sex, expecting a blow job for doing the pots etc…

im on here to gain advice and reassurance that I can bring up my daughter as a single parent. Single parent cause her mum can’t be arsed anymore so abandoned her. So do I think all mums are bad? Nope.

i have had a spat or 2 on here with some posters, we of course will have differing opinions, that’s the joys of the internet. Do I go reporting posts cause someone called me a horrid name? Nope.

Yes, men do get a hard time on here, sometimes it’s justified and many times it’s not.

sure I will be shot down for this post but it’s to be expected…

have a wonderful evening folks

Why not? It's against the TGs.

Cause it’s the internet, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
more in life to concern yourself with than people calling you nasty names.

some men are horrid, some women are.. simples.

double standards are a plenty on here that’s for sure, to be expected

Are you the guy who got deleted a few weeks ago for calling women slappers?

tequilam0ckingbird · 19/03/2026 21:34

well, I'm glad the man with Dad in his username has come along to mansplain forum etiquette to us. Just like many posters in this thread said would happen.

Everyone, listen. The man has spoken.

This particular man always posts on threads like this one, pointing out how jolly reasonable he is.

Thanks to these replies it just shows the attitude towards any man on here.

😂 True!

ThatCyanCat · 19/03/2026 21:47

Yeah, it was him. OP was having an affair (which is wrong, obviously) and he called her a slapper and got deleted. To be fair, he did apologise, but he also thought she ought to involve her children by telling them all about her affair so they could be distressed and angry and it would punish her.

If you're serious about being here for parenting advice, mate, then that is a really, really bad move. That's not what children are for. From what I've seen, though, you appear to be here not for support and advice on lone parenting, but so that you can weaponise your situation to try to prove that 'women are just as bad as men' in all respects or whatever. That's what comes over as the primary motivation.

The funny thing is, if you were really here for support and solidarity, I do honestly think you'd get it. There are plenty of abandoned mothers on here - women are a lot more likely than men to be left as lone parents - and I think most of them would sympathise with how hard it is and want to help, for you and your child... if that came across as truly being what you wanted.

But it clearly isn't.

I always found it funny the way people complain about men saying man here- if they didn’t they'd get a snide comment anyway! I think it’s interesting to get a man’s take and also good that the ones hear see things from the other side, there’s times I’m incredulous at what men read into something compared to what we do

I said deleted, dear, not banned.

There you go, he called a woman a slapper, the post was deleted and he's the victim. (I guess this means the apology was insincere too.) It's only because we hate men, no other reason!

I've seen plenty of women get treated like this too. Yes some men are treated badly but so are some women. Welcome to the world of asychronous forums.

Thanks for announcing you're a man and have opinions on this though. It's appreciated.

You were deleted because you used a misogynistic slur. It would have been deleted had a woman written it, because it was a misogynistic slur. It would have been deleted had ChatGPT written it, because it was a misogynistic slur.

And you still seem to think that was fine but everyone else was wrong for "shouting" at you about it.

At least we can see how sincere your apology was, I guess.
