I'm fed up of seeing 'regulation' all over the place

People can't be rude or angry or stressed, they're just 'dysregulated'

No more 'calming down', now it's 'regulating oneself'

Can't wait for this word to regulate itself into the fucking bin

Edited

Often used an excuse for someone lashing out. Happens all the time in education.
I was dysregulated this morning when I forgot to put my bin out. I didn't go and punch my husband as a result.

Adults who call their parents Mummy and Daddy!

Agree! A friend went on a date with a man in his 30s and he referred to his parents that way. Immediate Ick!

I'm with you on this one.

Especially annoying when there is a limited supply of freefrom items at events, and those with 'intolerances' take them, but then go on to eat something which that allergen in it as it 'looks nice'.

I catered for a residential yoga course once and the tutor sent me a strict list of approved items he would and wouldn't eat (nothing red was particularly eye rolling) which basically restricted me to making lentil slush with asafoetida for every meal. Since I wasn't prepared to make this slop for all the people who were paying good money to take his course I made him separate food twice a day.

Every single time he would eye the food greedily and mutter "I might just try a little bit of that" as he helped himself to big helpings of the varied and colourful vegetarian food I'd made for everyone else, leaving his sacred gloop completely untouched.

If you're reading this SIMON WHATEVER (or your ridiculous acolyte wife) you are a Very Special Wanker.

If you really overweight, and objectively unattractive, getting a tattoo or dyeing your hair purple isn’t going to help

Shmee1988 · 18/03/2026 19:34

People should dress for the body they have, NOT the body they want!

So many times I've wanted a laughing emoji reaction on here... I didn't know that there used to be one. 😀

Some people were using it in nasty ways. Laugh reacts when someone said they were suicidal etc.

worldshottestmom · 18/03/2026 19:23

Ugh, yes. First time I heard someone say it i thought they said "larvae".

Going to be controversial and also say scone is pronounced the correct way, as in sc-own. It feels like ive been shot when I hear someone say 'scon'. I dont care who links what research to say its pronounced 'scon', its sc-own.

Perhaps we should go one further and pronounce the one as one, so, sc-one. Food for thought.

I say scon even though logically the ‘e’ makes it sc-own. I googled it and scon is more Scottish/Northern and that’s what my upbringing influences were (Scottish parents). On a similar note, I hate all-monds instead of armonds.

Just because you've managed to open a MN account and start a thread relating some relationship difficulty you're having, doesn't automatically mean 'you don't deserve this' like somebody always says. You may well not deserve it, but you could also be a total arsehole that does, there's no way to tell.

That’s horrible.

You can still use laughing emojis through the phone but it’s not quite the same.

Well that is your opinion. I always called my parents Mummy and Daddy, hate Mum and Dad as did they. The only other option is Mama and Papa (a la Royal Family).

Nope, sorry that is a close 2nd to Mummy and Daddy and sounds pretentious! I can cope with Mother, Ma, Mum or Dad, Father or Pa!

Pudmyboy · 18/03/2026 19:39

The dancing in Footloose is terrible. And the film is boring.

Bearybasket · 18/03/2026 19:40

I think mounjaro and similar are great but there’s absolutely no point in taking them if you’re never going to make the effort to even walk the length of yourself (if you’re able bodied anyway). You’re still unhealthy, you're just thin and unhealthy now.

I like the code that newspaper obituarists gave come up with to deal with this. 'Strong willed' or 'Didn't suffer fools gladly' basically means 'was an arsehole'.

Ew I forgot about all-monds. I heard someone recently confidently pronounce epitome as "ep-ee-tome" and I didn't know what they were actually saying.

Alot of kids are badly behaved because they have shit parents who don't know how to say 'no' and set a poor example, so they disrespect adults as a result.
It isn't always because of XYZothercombinationofletterssyndrome.

Never have I agreed more to any post!!

Isittimeformynapyet · 18/03/2026 19:06

@B1anche and@Wellthisisdifficult
I made a prototype "audience sorter" in my imagination decades ago. It involved a sloping ceiling that was lowered into the auditorium before the gig and everyone walks forward until their head touches it. Then it is hoisted up and out of the way.

There were issues however, as unscrupulous men would walk forwards with their knees bent, or people moved around and stuff. So I had to shoot them with a dart so they'd keel over like a zoo animal and be swept aside until the encores were finished. Still in my imagination.

I love this!

You have to quote the post then use the emojis in your phone keyboard. It’s not as good as being able to go through the react option on a post. Shame it got ruined by some horrible people mocking other’s distress.

Don't agree. Genito/urinary can be both sexes and is primarily STD related, gynae is women only. The way you described us as "objects" doesn't surprise me, but I don't believe it's true in all cases either, some doctors are empathetic and see a person. However, a man looking up a woman's fanjo all day is quite another weird issue for me!

So I insist on a female when anything speculum like approaches my bits.

Genito-urinary medicine is not ‘primarily STD related’. It encompasses bladder issues, kidney problems such as stones, narrowed/obstructed ureters, fistulas, cancers, in both sexes, prostate issues in men. There’s an overlap with gynae surgery, transplant surgery etc.

And gynae isn’t just looking at vaginas. Gynaecologists could focus primarily on the obstetric side, elective surgery such as hysterectomy, tubal ligation, ovarian issues, endometriosis, gynaecology oncology, infertility, etc etc etc

I see what you mean. Yeah, it's just not as spontaneous as quick laugh emoji is it?

I cannot fathom why anyone would..... actually I can - they're pathetic cunts.
