Nope, sorry that is a close 2nd to Mummy and Daddy and sounds pretentious! I can cope with Mother, Ma, Mum or Dad, Father or Pa!

Edited

Agree. I think adults saying mummy and daddy must be a posh, or at least upper middle class thing. As a working class person mummy just sounds babyish to me. I couldn’t be doing with an adult man saying mummy and daddy. I’d never comment of course to people, but in my head I might do a little metaphorical side eye.

Anyone who does triathlons is self obsessed/selfish. See also most marathon runners.

See also adventurers/survivalists.

Genito-urinary medicine is not ‘primarily STD related’. It encompasses bladder issues, kidney problems such as stones, narrowed/obstructed ureters, fistulas, cancers, in both sexes, prostate issues in men. There’s an overlap with gynae surgery, transplant surgery etc.

And gynae isn’t just looking at vaginas. Gynaecologists could focus primarily on the obstetric side, elective surgery such as hysterectomy, tubal ligation, ovarian issues, endometriosis, gynaecology oncology, infertility, etc etc etc

Genitourinary medicine clinics (GUM clinics) deal primarily with sexually transmitted infections, GUM may encompass more but it is not unreasonable, given how commonly the phrase 'GUM clinic' is used to refer to places where STIs are dealt with, for someone to consider genitourinary medicine is primarily STD related.

People who say their mental health is suffering when they just mean that something has made them sad or upset or angry. Please don't devalue real mental health problems.

Agree! A friend went on a date with a man in his 30s and he referred to his parents that way. Immediate Ick!

That would be a big ick to me too unless it was tongue in cheek, or Mater and Pater. I'm sorry but that really does tell you something about the mindset and upbringing of the child and it reeks of Mrs Bouquet (Bucket), or people who think they are something they are not. Ooh and how about Mumsy and Father Dear!

Often used an excuse for someone lashing out. Happens all the time in education.
I was dysregulated this morning when I forgot to put my bin out. I didn't go and punch my husband as a result.

Surely though as a man job this was his fault 😂😂

Similar to the no TV people, people that won't pay the TV licence, but subscribe to Amazon, Netflix and Disney. WTF are you coming from with that?

RunningBehindAgain · 18/03/2026 20:05

I think most of our personality and behaviour is inherited and we are a product of our DNA.
Nurture plays a part but I think people (and animals) are just born a certain way.

What's this information saying then? Is there another term for non STD issues in that region of the body?

There is a huge difference between a service that says it is against the law to not pay for, and optional subscription services.
Plus, Netlfix etc are half the price of of a TV license.

Overnight oats are horrible, I’m boring and like porridge!
Before we got our cats I told people they wouldn’t be allowed on the bed or make me get up early to feed them, I would be boss.

XenoBitch · 18/03/2026 20:14

Cats are cunts, and I don't understand why anyone would want them.

id say the female-orientated equivalent would be the tv show covert affairs or alias

Well if they are spy-themed and by "equivalent" we mean spy-themed, but for women instead of for men, maybe you're right. I wouldn't know.

But what I meant was something sterotypically of interest to a horny 14-year-old girl, as opposed to a horny 14-year-old boy.

Isittimeformynapyet · 18/03/2026 20:17

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 18/03/2026 18:23

Oh! I just remembered:
James Bond films are awful. They are like a horny 14-year-old boy's fantasy of being a spy, worked into a 3 hour advert for men's luxury goods. The fact that they are almost universally taken seriously, with massive budgets thrown at them, Oscar nominations, huge red carpet events etc is proof that we live in a patriarchal society.

In a world with gender equality, it would be taken no more seriously than the female-orientated equivalent, which is probably Twilight.

I just looked it up and the only categories Bond films have been nominated for are technical. Never been nominated for best picture - and rightly so.

That's life though

Like when someone dies, suddenly they're the best, most kind and generous person to have ever lived

When really they were a fucking twat

I agree if you were a cunt in life my opinion of you in death isn't going to change.I can't be done with people who elevate fuckers into sainthood once they peg it

You DO have time to read to your child. You are NOT too busy. Just accept that you're a lazy parent and know that, as school staff, we know

And on that topic - people die.
They do not "pass away".
They definitely do not (shudder) "pass".

I think it is up to the person grieving as to how they word things.
