To think postmen etc should not be allowed to deliver parcels to neighbours without explicit permission

it's insane in 2026 this isn't a country village in a miss marple

Absolutely agree. I'm at home so I get bothered a lot.

If you are my neighbour I am really sorry I do not want them to do this it's mortifying

OP posts:
oviraptor21 · 13/03/2026 22:18

Also agree.
Fortunately we have a good safe space and people in most of the day.
There are a few undesirable neighbours who I don't want to interact with if it can be avoided.

Itsmetheflamingo · 13/03/2026 22:19

”postmen” as in Royal Mail shouldn’t, unless you have said you want it delivered to a neighbour

it’s other delivery companies like Amazon evri DPD who do it routinely because they get paid bugger all so don’t want to come back later

Czerwonitz · 13/03/2026 22:19

I just can't believe it's even legal in this confidentiality aware era tbh

Most of them leave it on my doorstep WHICH IS WHAT I WANT

I don't want the haunting stress of sheepishly going around to my neighbours to get it

If people were in when we tried to deliver we wouldn't need to.

A female postie.

if I were in whenever you were delivering I would be unemployed and unable to buy the things to be delivered

Do not leave my private shit with randoms and don't ask me to take the private shit or randoms

Right,so you're happy to shelp down the village in -4 to pick up some tea towels. Clearly none of you realise that society runs on mutual cooperation. When we did actually live in villages you traded food for labour, looking after those who couldn't fend for themselves.

Fuck I it's a parcel.

Pearlstillsinging · 13/03/2026 22:23

I agree with you, OP. It really isn't difficult to arrange an alternative for most parcels, if you won't be in for a delivery.

Clearly you live in 1952

A lot of people live next to someone on the sex offenders register these days

"Hiya Wayne I think you've got my parcel?"

My postman is a star and can do no wrong, he does everything very thoughtfully and conscientiously

notmuchtoit · 13/03/2026 22:26

What?

You think your neighbours are wanking over your Amazon delivery?

It costs a fortune to keep redelivering each time. If no safe place is specified we try the neighbours.

WTF?

Good grief @Czerwonitz sort yourself a drop off point/safe space. YABU!

VisitingInkMonitor · 13/03/2026 22:29

So you never have a parcel that goes to your neighbour OP?

Luckily I do live in a village which is like 1950s Miss Marple (minus the murders) and I will gladly take in a parcel for my neighbours - all of whom I know by name. Horrifying I know.

there were probably just as many sex offenders in 1952, they probably just weren’t on a register.

Thegoofylife · 13/03/2026 22:30

We were mightily pissed off earlier in the week. Ordered from Wickes delivery Wednesday - in all day and no bloody delivery and marked as delivered. Phoned them Thursday took a bloody hour to get through to them on the phone and they said delivered to number x - this is a shitty Neighbour that we have had loads of issues with. DH went round and sure enough they had them in their porch but ffs neither wickes or the delivery people (looking at you DHL) or the neighbour actually told us, what a fucking joke.
Did thank the neighbour but they are bloody arses and we really don’t want stuff left with them. They often go on holiday, away etc and indeed have gone away today so if we hadn’t of phoned yesterday we would still be without it.
no card, no text and we asked for it NOT to be left with a neighbour,

what a waste of our time. Fuming.

Ponderingwindow · 13/03/2026 22:31

ours just leaves them on our porch. When we lived somewhere this wasn’t safe, we used a service that could accept all kinds of deliveries. It made life so much easier.

BatchCookBabe · 13/03/2026 22:31

@Thegoofylife that's a shitty thing to have happened.

It was nothing to do with 'the postman' though.

Hilarious and omg yes, drives me nuts, just leave it behind my bin! There’s lots of places on my drive it can be hidden and then they leave it with a neighbour 😩
