Their not allowed to here in Australia if nobodys home it goes back to the post office and they leave a card to collect it from there 💕

Royal Mail used to do that in the UK, it was an absolute b0llache. Our Post Office is the other end of the village inside a petrol station with a manager who doesn’t know how to schedule staff and doesn’t stick to the published opening hours. Would turn up to get something and they would be shut!

Thank goodness we live in rural North Yorkshire where neighbours are still happy to help each other, and we can just tell Postman Pete if we want something putting somewhere different.

If people were in when we tried to deliver we wouldn't need to.

A female postie.

At royal mail thats what posties are told to do. I wasn't keen when I worked there doing so

Katemax82 · 15/03/2026 08:16

Living in a set back house on a busy road with no pavement on our side is great. You can't see our house behind a huge hedge so our stuff gets left outdoor in the porch it can be left open if we're out

Jellybean23 · 15/03/2026 08:29

Put a note on your door. ‘Please DON’T ask the neighbours to take in my parcels’

Dogmum74 · 15/03/2026 11:17

So you have to then traipse to the post office to collect a parcel from the sorting hub? God, what a miserable post

I know right! What a miserable person this must be to have posted this!

Clearly you live in 1952

A lot of people live next to someone on the sex offenders register these days

"Hiya Wayne I think you've got my parcel?"

I think you sound like a miserable cow who lives in a very rough area. Not everyone is or does.

The amazing world of MN strikes again! I don't want to be neighbourly with my neighbours and live in a community because...SEX OFFENDERS. SEX OFFENDERS EVERYWHERE!

Everywhere I've ever lived my neighbours have taken parcels for me and I've taken parcels for then and it's been no trouble whatsoever. If for whatever reason it is such a problem then it really is your problem and you should either be sure to be in when it's delivered, go out and get whatever it is yourself, or live in splendid isolation in the middle of nowhere.

I know right! Do they think a sex offender is grinding on their parcel LOL 😂

Who is Wayne?

John Wayne Gacy perhaps?

Ok "kind lady" I would hate to collect a parcel from you wherever you lived so thanks for supporting my point
