Just a general lighthearted one. Not aibu. Tell us something surprising, shocking, gripping or funny about someone you know personally , or an experience you had , or a famous person. Without giving anything away.
I've said this one before but....I know a very very well loved tv actor who is absolutely vile IRL. Im not going to out him but your jaw would drop if you knew..
Also I once lived in a place where a woman and her husband were upstanding members of the community, prominant locally, liked being respected, true blue types. They loved pronouncing on who was right and who was wrong in all situations. One day she told me conspiratorially and with great glee that they thought they'd been shafted financially by a local business bloke, so one night they put sugar in his petrol tank and slashed two of his tyres. I was young at the time and completely shocked.
Finally, in the C of E church in my old village where I grew up there were a bunch of smiley 'upstanding 'regular churchgoers who didnt like the new , slightly happy clappy vicar . He waa modern, and kind and seemed to care about the poorer people in the village . Rather like you'd imagine Jesus might have done. So the nice upatanding churchgoing regulars orchestrated a smear campaign against him and didn't stop until they'd made sure the vicar had had a breakdown and hadcto keave his post. It was.such a lovely, kindly village .🤣

Huh? I assumed she's an accountant or similar. What have you assumed?

Unless she is explicitly employed to manage the wealth of the people she knows and they therefore know she has this information, she is presumably looking at records for nosiness reasons rather than professional need.

Financial adviser or accountant. Does it make a difference?

What business does she have to access the accounts of clients that she is not personally servicing in order to snoop on their sensitive financial details.

I doubt you would be happy for any NHS employee (who could be your nosy neighbour or relative) to access your medical records just because the NHS happened to give the employee access due to their poor security access framework. There are data protection laws which apply to prevent these situations.

I'm confused why you have decided she isn't personally working on them?
As a side note, my sister sends out letters for the NHS in paediatrics, she can see all kids medical record (I imagine in our area), she has told me she has checked my sons before which I wasn't too happy with so I don't think the NHS is a good example for this one..

Actually I've just remembered she checked our aunty's also when she was waiting for a diagnosis on something, she did ask her to check because she didn't want to wait for the letter but yeah, she could see hers too.

I have a personal connection with an extremely famous singer.

He loves to sing his most famous song whilst playing his willy like a banjo.

I'm lying of course, but does it matter because threads like this are absolutely ridiculous.

'Tell me a secret about someone I don't know, without mentioning names, which can be totally made up'

I want to know more about the vile TV actor!
I know that my DH has a large stash of mini eggs in his desk drawer. He doesn’t know that I know, but I worry he knows that I have a 6 pack of Crunchies in my desk drawer!

And this would make much more logical sense if you were using codewords for sextoys Grin

.....

However, the laughing face emoji after the OP describes the treatment of the vicar is fucking grim. Maybe she is sloshed? Or I have incorrectly scanned it and she is laughing at the concept of the perfect village with a savage cynicism!

AlpineAnja · 13/03/2026 05:45

Well, even if this is false, my poor mind's eye visualised ed sheeran, What an unfortunate way to start the day. A dick banjo might sound better than his published music tho, but then again, so would a string of random farts Grin

i know for a fact that a well known model was available for hire as a “girlfriend”. The rate back then was $30 000 for the weekend. I was working in the Middle East at the time and involved in the travel and payment arrangements.

I think it would be surprising if she were personally working on them. She says they are clients at her work, not that they are her clients. If they were he clients they would surely know she knows their secrets.

This whole story is really bad if it's true. I hope the family members find out and blow the whistle.

Then your Sister is a fool who would be sacked if she got found out. I work in the NHS and have records at my fingertips we all know to never ever look at anybody unless we are caring for them.

Soooooo · 13/03/2026 06:06

I work with the biggest tool of a man I had ever met in my life. Obnoxious, brash, loud and totally shit at his job. He was married and used to bring his wife into work every now and again she seemed like a lovely woman. Anyway he started having an affair with a woman he had met whilst out and made everyone aware of all the sordid details, taking her on holidays, letting us the details of his sex life - totally unprofessional and like he had won a prize. I set up a fake FB profile and told his wife, his life imploded when she chucked him out and like in The Traitors he has no idea who told his wife. He is pretty sure it is somebody at work and hates us all but it has been a joy to watch the total prick fall from his perch. Of course it is not his fault but that of the person who told his wife. Nobody else in the world knows it was me.

loislovesstewie · 13/03/2026 06:08

I used to work for a local authority, I interviewed lots of people who had served time in prison for the most serious of offences. I have knowledge of them that is privileged, in that I only know it due to my work. Many years ago I worked in a police control room, I could access records on whether an individual had committed a crime. Accessing those records for personal use would have resulted in me being disciplined.
I would never, ever access records other than for professional reasons, and would never tell anyone what I know. Anyone who does really needs to give their head a wobble, it's a very serious offence to make private information public. It's legally /morally wrong.

I wish more people knew so that my situation could be helped but...

My black bin needs to go out for morning collection but I'm currently lying with a very awake, poorly toddler! Worried I'm going to fall asleep and BOOM - miss the bin man.

Last night I had a nightmare that I forgot to put the bin out.

I'm in the NHS and Social Care even if someone asks I'm nit allowed to look on the file unless I've good reason to be on there such as a professional involvement. Our systems have an audit trail built in so that these is a record of who has been doing what to the file and when. Aside from the moral issue its abusing your position. I hope the gets caught.

That’s a sackable offence in the NHS she’s an idiot.

I know my dad cheated on my mum many times. He’s dead now and I found out after he died. I haven’t told anyone.

I know that a close family member jumped before they were pushed from an old job because of unethical (but not quite illegal) things they did

I have similar. They left, not because as they've told everyone, they were headhunted, but because there was a serious allegations of bullying including discrimination and they were very likely to have been pushed.
They don't know I know and so I have to sit through their description of how their previous job keeps begging them to return but they are oh so needed...

You can get the sack/ disciplinary in the nhs if you are accessing records for a reason that is not related to your work. Your sis should know that she absolutely should not access your son’s record unless she is having to type a letter etc. In that case, the right thing to do would be to ask a colleague to type it due to the relationship. If they are electronic records, there will be an audit trail as to who has accessed them

Even with your aunty’s permission, she should not be accessing her records! Staff should have information governance training on a regular basis which spells this out.

I know a US actor who came over to our town for an event and while there send one of his team out to get drugs, the team member returned within the hour with a wide selection of drugs. I’ve lived in this town for over 30 years and wouldn’t have the first idea where to get drugs from. I still wish I asked them how do you do that, they all live in the US and had never visited this town before. Is there some kind of network you can tap into to? Not that I want to buy drugs, it just intrigues me how it works

How do know this? How do you know what he sent out for and what arrived within what timeframe?

Will definitely post later but gotta get to work....
Oh poor vicar - why did they hate him so much if he was so Jesus like? He sounds lovely....

I know that someone who is officially on leave for burnout actually had affairs with not one but two of his colleagues and is now dealing with the fallout and broken marriage. Of course because I've been on MN for far too long this came as no surprise to me, but it's still a secret within the organisation. A woman has stepped into his role and is now pulling everyone well and truly into line as a lot of piss has been taken while people were busy not doing their jobs.
