Because i work in the health industry and i and others will do the best to stop this weight loss private jab industry.

Oh suddenly makes sense. They must cut into your profits so of course you want to ban them and deny others the chance to lose weight that doesn't involve paying you. If you don't need them then don't take them

SilenceInside · 11/03/2026 16:19

@SuzyFandango how would a face to face consultation prevent someone from hiding weights about their person? It’s the same as a video consult, if a person is determined to do it.

BerryTwister · 11/03/2026 16:20

Lennonjingles · 11/03/2026 15:22

Well yes, you don’t qualify for them free, so if you want them you have to pay. I am 5ft 3 and 12 stone, I don’t qualify, but that’s fine, I would rather try and loose the weight naturally.

@Lennonjingles There are meant to be restrictions even when paying.

Because i work in the health industry and i and others will do the best to stop this weight loss private jab industry.

Why?

Genuinely what is your issue here that you want to stop the whole industry?

I do actually agree that you shouldn't have met the criteria for prescription and I'd def report this particular pharmacy.

I agree it needs to be strictly regulated but these treatments have been lifechanging to 100,000's of women who have met the criteria for prescription, why do you want to ruin this for them?

Maybe if you calm down and explain things a little more, you will better prove your point?

MrsPerfect12 · 11/03/2026 16:21

the OP won’t name and won’t pay to prove the case. Going to go with the AI approval as “proof”… it isn’t, then rant and rave instead.

FaceEatingLeopard · 11/03/2026 16:22

To be fair if I was in charge of cleaning the latrines at the local anal carbuncle clinic I could say I was employed in the 'health industry' couldn't I?
Meaningless piffle.

TikTokker · 11/03/2026 16:22

What provider? That price is insane for a starter dose…

iloveeverykindofcat · 11/03/2026 16:22

I've got news for you OP: a few short years ago, it used to be both possible and legal for codeine addicts to fill in an online form stating they had back pain and get a hundred-odd opiate tablets delivered to their door for a nice sum to a private prescriber. ndeed multiple private prescribers, without the GP ever finding out. I know someone who was doing it, so I did a bit of research and yep, no problem. Same for sleeping pills. Literally any drug that people are willing to pay money for is open to abuse and exploitation and not all prescribers are ethical. Its not a reason to hate the drugs themselves. That one has been cracked down on now (as WLI are being and will continue to be) but it went on for years. In total I think the person I knew must have spent thousands.

SilenceInside · 11/03/2026 16:23

I think that @Enyastar won’t be returning to the thread with any further details, if she returns at all it will be to stoke the flames some more.

One thing this thread is not is a reasoned and sensible debate about access to medication via online prescribing pharmacies.

You work in the 'health industry'

Do you mean you are a Slimming World leader or something, and your numbers are falling? I expect so

Anyone who works in actual healthcare is thrilled with WLI, the most transformative health intervention in years

BerryTwister · 11/03/2026 16:24

OP I hope you're lying about this, but if you're not, please tell us which pharmacy this is. If they are genuinely doing this then it is very dangerous.

MargoLivebetter · 11/03/2026 16:24

SuzyFandango · 11/03/2026 16:18

It should just be that face to face/in person consultation is required. Its not hard. The resistance to this coming in is people who know it will limit access to the people abusing it for cosmetic reasons.

Have you written to your MP and the Health Secretary to ask for this? No objections from me, as long as it doesn't make prices go up or you are expecting tax payers to fund face to face meetings (I can't even get from my GP for other medical problems!) via the NHS?

Lol. Good luck with that 😂

How many people do you know who want to do that?! 😉🤣

Indeed. And I can’t think of a much cheaper and more pleasurable way to put the weight on than injections!

OhWise1 · 11/03/2026 16:31

LittleMonks11 · 11/03/2026 15:58

OP is afraid of litigation I suspect and won’t name the company.

she's bullshitting!!
she didnt understand that pharmacies don't review and prescribe until they get your payment, and now instead of admitting she was wrong and potentially looking silly, she's doubling down.
Why would she care about get sued if what she was saying is the truth?

Nanda66 · 11/03/2026 16:32

Unless you name the pharmacy I don’t believe you.

MrsArcher23 · 11/03/2026 16:35

why won’t you answer what pharmacy you’ve used? And if they are really charging that much for a starter dose, you should have tried elsewhere!

bugalugs45 · 11/03/2026 16:37

Enyastar · 11/03/2026 15:24

Ive done and passed all stages..i just needed to give my card details.

I don’t believe this , as any company I’ve dealt with and there have been plenty ( been on MJ 18 months ) have always taken payment upfront and then refunded
if meds are not approved & prescribed .
Care to name the company OP? Otherwise I call bullshit!

Because i work in the health industry and i and others will do the best to stop this weight loss private jab industry.

Why do you feel that way OP?

I take 'fat jabs' because at 51 and menopausal it stablises my mood, cured my joint pains, stopped my migraines and gives me loads of energy. (Can't take HRT.)

Personally I'd pump it into the water if I could.

paloma7 · 11/03/2026 16:38

What is the point of all this "Wow, wow, just Wow" OP? None of this is that amazing really, is it?

Have you sent them photos? BMI 24.9 is borderline overweight. It's not as if they're prescribing them to you with a BMI of 20. You do realise you don't actually have to buy these jabs? 😁Why did you apply if you don't want them? I'm 5 ft 7 and weigh 9 st 7 also and I'm not exactly skinny. Prob I could go on them if I wanted, just for a month or whatever. Why the outrage?

SpaceRaccoon · 11/03/2026 16:39

OP I think others are misunderstanding your first post.
FWIW I completely agree with you, these jabs are being abused now - half of Hollywood is wandering around anorexic. Oprah Winfry looks like a hip might snap at any second.

Boomer55 · 11/03/2026 16:40

Every industry, including health, has those happily making money, regardless of morals.

With beauty, we’ve had butt lifts that have ended in chaos, Botox that’s gone wrong, lip treatments that have ended up with a trout pout etc etc

But adults are grown ups, and need to do their own research.

Fat jabs may or may not be good, in time, but people need to take their own risks.

Your thread won’t change a thing. 🤷‍♀️

Overtheatlantic · 11/03/2026 16:41

I suspect OP hates to see fat people “cheating”. We are morally bankrupt and deserve to suffer for our greed. Meanwhile, I just fit into a lovely pair of size 12 jeans for the first time in 20 years.

I think people completely understand the first post, but either don't believe the OP is genuine, or think that the OP has misunderstood how the online pharmacies work, and are trying to explain that to her.

Why is Hollywood and Oprah Winfrey relevant? They aren't getting WLI from UK online pharmacies under UK rules and regulations. Totally different system in the US, clearly.
