To watch Silent Witness despite it being the worst TV show ever?

I’ve always watched it. It’s a Winter to Spring habit. Nikki is wooden and has never become a real character and the introduction of Jack… 😳
But this season is beyond- Jack’s pirates of the Caribbean makeover, Nikki staring thoughtfully into the distance and spouting some poetic existential lines. It’s the worst. And I can’t stop watching.

Im.addicted to it. Id say the awful narration on last week was the worst. But i watch it. I dont know why😂😂

I haven't been able to watch it since Harry left, Jack just doesn't compare 😂

I love it and hate it it is utterly ridiculous, we've watched every single episode, starting a year or two back, binging the whole lot.

Every single episode I am shouting 'why are you out of the lab, you're NOT police'.

I am hoping either Nikki or Jack get sploded next series and we can have someone new in. Someone of Harrys calibre ideally.

It has one positive in more recent years, the hiring of actors with disabilities playing roles where their disability is largely irrelevant. I like that, we need to see more of that thankyou.

Season 26 and onwards, have been absolutely atrocious. It used to be great, and now it's been dumbed down and comparable to a soap opera. They've done it on purpose of course; made it so you can fuck about on your phone and still follow the plot in the background. Honestly it's been painful to watch.

So, finally watched the last episode and I may actually stick to my resolve not to watch another episode next year… just WHAT was with all the voice over/internal monologues? Didn’t even like her blouses this season…

Friends, despite your sage words of wisdom, I have not been able to stop this compulsion. I’ve just watched the Jack punching a bloke one. What fresh hell. Jack showing regret and using the Nikki trademarked ‘ponderous glances and overblown literary sounding quotes’ in his redemption was THE ACTUAL WORST.

Also- is it the case that each of this series actually ends in an unresolved manner?!! I don’t want that in my murder mysteries! All solved please.

On to episode 9 now so only 2hrs left till I can release myself from this yearly purgatory.

Hope you’ve survived? I did decide, on the basis that not even Emilia’s blouses were up to scratch this season that it may be the last one we watch… until Feb next year and a new season arrives and we forget how awful it was.

I've finisbed season 29, and I'm not going to bother watching any further seasons. It's gone so downhill in quality and character. The only good thing about it in recent years, is the diversity within it now, but it's almost like they've set THAT up to fail with such terrible writing and story arcs.

After finding this thread I seriously want the show to be commissioned for the rest of my days. The discussion here has been hilarious.

Love Silent Witness. The Leo and Harry era was my favourite. Never understood why Nikki and Harry didn’t get together. I miss Clarissa and her double act with Jack. I’m always fascinated how Nikki always walks with her arms by her side; they don’t seem to swing. In the most recent series Jack seemed to look bloated and the ridiculous beard made him look sinister. Really don’t think Nikki would have ever been interested in him. I’m only watching because I like spotting places I know around Birmingham. The brummy accents are awful, Jack is the worst character ever and the storylines are depressing.

It’s always been my winter tv ritual. After Christmas silent witness starts and I record the two episodes to watch on a Saturday night with wine and treats. My god I’ve struggled with it this year. It’s unwatchable

Why did they move from The Lyall Centre to Birmingham? Enjoyed one of the episodes but the one where Jack thought he’d killed the bloke was painful

I don’t watch tv anymore, wait for the boxes to come out and binge, but I had this on during a boring hotel stay for work a couple of weeks ago (usually just crack the news channel on) as I remember it being on when I lived at home. It seemed bearable when I was younger and hadn’t yet worked in pathology/mortuary services.

I hate Jack and Nikki together. Awful! The new series doesn’t start here till next month. I’m not sure about watching it as the last series was terrible.

There was a thread on here ages ago about things you had misheard and someone posted they had thought the first line of the Silent Witness theme was “there’s a horsie, there”. Loved it and sing it in my head when the programme starts.
