To watch Silent Witness despite it being the worst TV show ever?

I’ve always watched it. It’s a Winter to Spring habit. Nikki is wooden and has never become a real character and the introduction of Jack… 😳
But this season is beyond- Jack’s pirates of the Caribbean makeover, Nikki staring thoughtfully into the distance and spouting some poetic existential lines. It’s the worst. And I can’t stop watching.

I haven’t really watched it since Harry Cunningham left. He was hot.

It’s surreal but DH and I love it!
We love how Jack just does all the jobs (and this is never questioned)… the policing, chasing and interviewing the witnesses, forensics, projectile calculations (occasionally with whizzy graphics!)... Nicky has obviously ‘dropped on’ as can’t see any other roles forthcoming. The lab techs are the best actors / best bit of the show… other than its theme tune’which is a joy to warble along to..

I have finally given up on it this series, it has tipped over into parody now surely? I used to love it, but it is so unbelievable, badly acted and then there's what on earth Jack has done to his face/hair!

I thought I’d give it one last try and it did seem ok but then went down hill
the dramatic speeches were ridiculous
random lines when Nicky asked if she gave off lesbian vibes
and the shower scene with jack and Nicky

I've never watched Silent Witness, but if it's any consolation @mynamechangemyrules , I was binge watching Benidorm. Can't believe SW is worse.

The Amanda Burton years were the best. I watched the first two episodes of this series only because it’s moved to bham, which is where I live. I had to stop watching, it was ridiculous.

So I think I have now actually reached the end of the road with it. Watched half of the boxing one and could not bear anymore of the “hammer blow” philosophy or political overexplaining under the guise of a genuine conversation.

Also if that cop had actually snogged Kit like that he’d be up on all sorts of charges but don’t worry about it coz we need to shoehorn in a learning point about how people with dwarfism have relationships too.

And if Jack is supposed to be this hot physical specimen, make him look like one and teach him to bench press properly

I sing along as well, even the top note, unfortunately for DH.

I also think it’s totally unrealistic that pathologists get involved with all the investigation and police work. Drives me mad. And all the characters are bloody annoying! And yet it’s still watchable!

Witless Silence is one of my favourite sewing accompaniments. I have it going and kind of tune in and tune out. Plot holes pass me by.

Last year I went back to the beginning and watched them all. I cant remember a single story, they all blend into one.

Top note is the best bit!

I’ve been watching old episodes recently, I watched shadows. An episode from 2010, about a university shooting. It’s excellent.

I stopped watching when Sam Ryan left.

‘Shoehorn in a learning point’ love that. I haven’t watched it for years since it became all about the main actors and not standalone pathology investigations that solved murders.

Casualty was the same. Used to be entertaining then it became all about the staff’s relationships and unlikely predicaments with a topping of ISSUE OF THE DAY. I used to watch it with my DC and play ‘spot the topical issue’. FGM? Disability rights? Coercive control?

It is terrible OP. Awful storylines, beyond ridiculous and I hate it but watch every episode although frequently I won’t get all the way through the second episode. It’s because there is very little decent tv to watch.

I agree, it is definitely cringey but i watch every episode! Jack and Nikki though? Just no UGH! I absolutely love Kit though, she is a breath of fresh air, i hope she stays.

I think it genuinely used to be good - if always unrealistic. I never watched the Amanda Burton ones but watched all of the Nikki ones until Thomas died, after that I think it really did start going downhill with the whole Jack/Nikki romance.

Best era was Nikki, Harry & Leo for me. Those were the days!!

Habit for me as much as anything. DH can’t stand it, so it’s mindless alone watching for me. I do like Kit though, and Harriet.

I unashamedly LOVE it! It’s all a bit of fun. DH not a fan but I make him watch it with me every year and he spends the whole time pointing out all the silliness. And I actually don’t mind Jack and Nikki together, I think they’re quite sweet and I like the fact that the writers don’t keep breaking them up and getting them back together for the drama.

Jack is an utter utter knob and I don't believe Nikki would go for him.

The storylines this series were so far fetched as to be tipping into a Comic Relief style parody.

I still watch it though!

The title music is the best thing about it. I enjoyed it when Clarissa was in it, but haven’t watched it for years.

Where is his deaf daughter gone ? And I couldn't follow the Chinese/not Chinese storyline very well mainly because I found it so twisty that I I fell asleep .
Her plaits are hilarious 😂 And no more mention of Kit's admirer . The piano and pearls with the elaborate hairdo whilst watching Nikki plunge her hand into some gooey substance is pure farce .
