To watch Silent Witness despite it being the worst TV show ever?

I’ve always watched it. It’s a Winter to Spring habit. Nikki is wooden and has never become a real character and the introduction of Jack… 😳
But this season is beyond- Jack’s pirates of the Caribbean makeover, Nikki staring thoughtfully into the distance and spouting some poetic existential lines. It’s the worst. And I can’t stop watching.

Not caught up on the last few seasons, but I love SW. Occasionally I think some of the themes are too dark and grim (I'm a big wholesome wuss) but I like the people and have had a very soft spot for EF for as long as I can remember).

Many of us have made the point that too much happens!

I will forever be of the opinion that watching box sets of TV programmes IS watching TV.

Kit is the best thing about this show’s current cast - but as a bit of a sporadic watcher, is she meant to have a crush on Jack, or is it just me that thinks she does?

I think Kit is just a bit of a flirt but who knows. Love her

this series is a lot better than the last which was the pits. I mean it’s never going to to be great, but I’ve assumed new writers…

Regionality. Apparently too much TV production happens in London / Home Counties and OfCom says it needs to be spread across the country to give everyone a chance to work in TV without having to relocate to the South.

Back in the day, TV was countrywide but BBC/ITV decided to centralise in the 80s, and now they’re trying to turn the clock back.

So Silent Witness moved from London to Birmingham meaning Jack & Nikki et al moved from The Lyell to The Bowman.

But did they work it into the narrative of the show? I tuned in for this series and it was suddenly in Birmingham and I wondered if I'd missed something.

We gave up after that awful ‘Angels’ karaoke moment and them getting together.
SW had been getting increasingly bad (it wasn’t always!). I loved the original series and the Nicky, Harry, Leo era was great.
I always rather loved Clarissa too but the trouble was that she came with Jack who has always been incredibly annoying.
Jack was just about tolerable as part of a bigger team. But getting him and Nicky become a couple was a terrible move and completely out of character. A development that stank of writer’s room desperation.
That said, I do rather miss it!

Drives me nuts. The storyline with jack beating someone up was ridiculous. And there’s absolutely absolutely no chemistry between Jack and Nicky whatsoever.
Also, why did the entire team relocate to Birmingham ? Surely in real life some would stay in London!!

He must live fairly locally to me as I have seen him in our local town a few times in recent years. I haven’t seen him in anything on tv though in a long time, so maybe he has moved into another line of work.

The Harry and Leo era was the best and I quite liked Thomas. Loved Clarissa. There were a few episodes I couldn’t stand. Nikki being buried in the desert WTF? Always accompanying the detectives everywhere. Is that what pathologists do? Nikki has a new home in nearly every series. Don’t like the move to Birmingham

@Isittimeformynapyet They did work it into the end of series 29. And it was made clear they were all going or none.

Didn’t help that series 29 was shown out of order. Made Maggie Steed’s character look like she’s forgetful. I’m told she very much has all her marbles.
