Does Turkish Delight exist anymore?!

I mean the proper stuff in powdered sugar, not Fry’s in chocolate.

I’ve just moved house and bought my mum her Mother’s Day gifts in advance, so she’s had her card, a book and jewellery this past Wednesday when they came to see the new place (don’t ask, my dad is nosy, couldn’t wait any longer apparently! I finished moving on Monday…) I’ve just got a text inviting me for Sunday lunch at a hotel that is equidistant between their home and mine.

For this Sunday! I was kind of hoping to just watch the rugby on Saturday and carry on unpacking my house on Sunday. I can’t turn up empty handed I would feel awful - plus it’s in a hotel, so I there will be mums being treated all over the place (nothing wrong with that). And I will look like a dog’s dinner as I have no idea what box my ‘nicer’ clothes are in.

So I can get some flowers on the way, but what she really loves is Turkish Delight - the proper stuff. Does this exist anymore? And, if so, where? Thank you! I have limited googling ability to order stuff online as the BT engineer came today to sort out the internet and there’s a junction box issue, so currently at local pub using their WiFi (not going to cry about that though… rude not to have a glass of wine…) But I could order online in the next hour..!

The M&S one comes in a little bar form, with proper rose flavour and is actually made in Turkey. The best rose form I have tasted.

We had some from Waitrose at Christmas and it was awful so you might want to give it a miss. Very hard and chewy and poor flavour

I was going to say the same about Waitrose. I remember soft and nearly melts in the mouth stuff we used to get freshly made in a sweet shop in Port Isaac, now long gone too.

I shall watch this watch for ideas where to go next!

I’m just scrolling while eating a box of it. Obvs I would never eat the lot

The m and s bars covered in chocolate are nice too. They are in the individual bars section, and you get two pieces. It’s good stuff dipped in good chocolate.
I am partial to a Fry’s one when I visit out elderly neighbour! X

You’re all so kind, thank you. Will try Sainsbury’s tomorrow and if not will order it online. Sadly I think it’s just jelly with perfume in it - I know I am feral - but she loves it. You’re all so great for your suggestions, thank you!

As an aside, if anyone has an amazing recipe for Korean corn I will be making that on Saturday morning! Have the corn, the Korean mayonnaise and the mozzarella!

Hotel Chocolat do Turkish Delight in the run up to Christmas, in a nice wooden box.

HeyThereDelila · 10/03/2026 22:01

Yes, I bought a box at Christmas from M&S it’s still in the cupboard.

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 10/03/2026 16:39

Yes, this.

And on an unhelpful tangent, we were in northern Greece a few years ago and bought some Greek Delight in Thessaloniki that was made on the premises. Probably people of the Greek diaspora who were forcibly relocated from Turkey (or the Ottoman Empire as it then was) in the early 20th century and brought the sticky stuff with them. It was also delicious.

Yeah it's very much a thing in Greece, although we call it "loukoumi" and not Turkish delight. Rose flavour is probs the most popular. Loooove it ❤️

Clafoutie · 10/03/2026 23:27

Grape Tree have a selection of flavours, and even a 1kilogram tub!

Blarn · 10/03/2026 23:29

Dh bought me some from aldi at Christmas.

InterestedDad37 · 10/03/2026 23:34

Iceland - (the shop 😄) got some there at Christmas - really nice, but I'm easily pleased 😋

DoesthislookgoodOnMe · 11/03/2026 00:05

Yes of course …: do you live in London as I can advise of lots of Turkish shops that will have it.

Some of the best lokum I had in Istanbul was from here. They ship worldwide.

DdraigGoch · 11/03/2026 01:21

Well I've just come back from Istanbul with several boxes of it so it certainly does. A local independent shop stocks it too.

FloofBunny · 11/03/2026 01:24

Haven't read the thread, but Fortnum and Mason has it, imported from somewhere good and made by someone good! 😄 You can order it from their website. It's not cheap but nice for a gift.

SantiagoShaming · 11/03/2026 04:51

Give the Gower Deli a call, they might have some.

CoastalCalm · 11/03/2026 06:27

I get a tin of it every Christmas from Amazon

yellowfieldpinkflowers · 11/03/2026 07:19

That was a really long, involved post just to ask where you can buy Turkish delight : ))

Barcodescanner22 · 11/03/2026 07:22

Do you have a mr Simms shop nearby? They have rose and lemon in our local one

TroysMammy · 19/03/2026 20:11

@Arlanymor hi, did you get Turkish Delight after? I went to Exotica and International Foods today and they had it there. In International they had it unpackaged on the counter so I expect you could buy as many cubes as you wanted.
