So the child murderer Ian Huntley is dead, finally. Pity it took so long, i hope he died in pain and terror, and a medal to whoever did it. Karma sometimes works.

I hope that the parents of Holly & Jessica and Huntley’s mother get closure.
I don’t suppose everyone would feel like this but if I was the mum of a murdered child l expect I would feel some grim satisfaction that his last feelings would be pain, frightened in a violent situation.
Frankly when there is absolutely no doubt in murderers like this we really should hang the bastards.
Why keep them alive costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands living in better conditions than some ex service men & pensioners?

Fedupofthisgame · 07/03/2026 10:40

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I agree he was a terrible person. I agree that the man who did it is just as bad, and shouldn't be celebrated. It's actually terrible its even possible to have this happen in a prison. The truth will never come out about what really happened to those girls now. Not sure that is a good thing or not. I'm just waiting to see if Huntley's family try and sue the government for this now.

He’ll likely get a longer sentence, so that’s a win!

He’s on a whole life order, the only thing coming out of this for him is being able to claim the moral high ground for killing Huntley. The only thing coming out of it for the families of his victims is the knowledge that people like the OP are seeing the man who killed their loved ones as some sort of vigilante hero.

The world feels lighter, but remember the man that killed him was a murderer, amongst his 3 victims was a pregnant woman.

Handrearedmagpie · 07/03/2026 10:48

Huntley is no loss to society and I am glad we no longer have to pay to keep him alive.
I'm sorry for his mother, because his crimes were not hers, and the families of holly and Jessica. That this has put them back in the news and they will never get answers on what actually happened that day.
No medals for the killer though, he's just as much of a scumbag as Huntley.

He was already on a whole life tariff so had nothing to lose by killing Huntley.

That's true. If he wasn't already in there permanently.

A medal for a murderer, are you mad

JipJup · 07/03/2026 10:51

Do you have any thoughts on the replies so far OP?

Pricelessadvice · 07/03/2026 10:51

The man who did this does NOT deserve a medal. He is a violent murderer and rapist.

As for Huntley, I hope he rots.

Sesma · 07/03/2026 10:51

Where is the OP, plopped and gone

IThinkPink · 07/03/2026 10:52

Come back op…..

SerafinasGoose · 07/03/2026 10:53

This is not what karma means.

The word you are wanting is 'vigilantism'.

Thelankyone · 07/03/2026 10:54

I also get no satisfaction from this and he didn’t die in pain or terror, he was brain damaged severely from the moment of the attack, which would have been seconds.

i don’t need him to die in pain and terror and it was another rapist and murder who did it, and that man had victims, so Read up on what he did before you start awarding medals, and have some compasssion for the women and child he raped and murdered,

nomas · 07/03/2026 10:55

I hope the girls’ parents can rest a bit better knowing he is gone.

Whilst I would have preferred he died of natural causes, at least that saves the tax payer a few million.

He had been serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 40 years

I didn’t realise he didn’t get a whole life order. I wonder if he would ever have been released.

CinnamonBuns67 · 07/03/2026 10:56

The person who killed him is in prison because he too is a monster. Whilst I agree it's good riddance and I am pleased he is no longer in this world, the person does not deserve a medal.

A medal to a man who raped and murdered a pregnant woman? Your sick

Quite.
I believe that he killed a 7 month pregnant woman.
He had been told by the woman earlier in the day she was pregnant.
I don’t know if the baby survived.

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 07/03/2026 10:59

Yes. Let’s give a medal to a murderer of woman, and unborn children, let’s give a medal to a rapist.

BatchCookBabe · 07/03/2026 11:00

Yes I agree. Part of me did want him to live, and keep on suffering in jail, but no, he doesn't deserve to live when those 2 lovely little girls Holly and Jessica didn't get a chance to live past their childhood.

A medal to whoever did it? You do realize that this is someone who is in prison for murdering three people, including a pregnant woman whom he raped before killing her?

Bellaunion · 07/03/2026 11:03

Laiste · 07/03/2026 10:25

Well, the triple murderer and rapist who killed Huntley has at least performed a service to society while in prison!

I don't think anyone thinks he actually deserves any medals. It's just a figure of speech.

The world is a slightly better place with one less child killer in it.

It may be a figure of speech but it's perhaps one people need to refrain from using in these circumstances. Imagine you'd had a pregnant relative who had been raped and strangled. How would you feel seeing comments that their killers deserved a medal?

Huntley was a monster but his killer was no better and people need to stop crowing him in glory or awarding some kudos points for a "service to society". The guy was a triple killer, he certainly won't have killed Huntley because he was appalled by his crimes.

Furthermore to this, there are members of "soceity" who will have had to deal with this. Paramedics, prison staff, hospital staff who will have been faced with the scene of a man with his head split in two while working in a prison environment. I can't even imagine what they are going through.

Not sorry he’s dead and I’m glad his last waking moments where probably sheer terror, but would rather he lived another twenty years in pain and fear.

I feel this way too. Another at least 20 years of being scared & looking over his shoulder waiting for the next beating & painful failed suicide attempts.

dying was the easy way out.

i think it's worrying this attack was possible in our prison system. It could easily have been a staff member or someone far less deserving. It shouldn't have been possible.

No medal for the bloke who did it though, he's NO hero just a different sack of shit.

I wonder how Holly & Jessica's parents are today? Relieved or feeling cheated of his suffering?

While I don't care about the fact that he's dead -the man who killed him is a triple murderer and rapist. It basically shows how unsafe prisons are -when I read what the killer of Huntley did it made me sick

Dweetfidilove · 07/03/2026 11:08

I'm not going to award a medal to the murderer.
Given he'd been attempting suicide, he's just relieved him of the burden of a slow and miserable walk to death.
