Good riddance Huntley

So the child murderer Ian Huntley is dead, finally. Pity it took so long, i hope he died in pain and terror, and a medal to whoever did it. Karma sometimes works.

OP posts:

Not sorry he’s dead and I’m glad his last waking moments where probably sheer terror, but would rather he lived another twenty years in pain and fear.

A medal? It was someone who killed 3 (now 4) people...

daisychain01 · 07/03/2026 10:21

So the response is to create a thread to gloat over his death and say good riddance, What good does that do. The tone is wrong, none of us were actually affected by the evil Huntley did.

The parents and family members of Holly and Jessica have the right to vocalise how they feel, we just don't. Instead, they keep a dignified silence, why don't we?

bookworm14 · 07/03/2026 10:23

The guy who allegedly did this murdered three people including a pregnant woman, whom he also raped. I’m clearly not sad Huntley’s dead (I have a 10 year old daughter), but equally I’m not going to celebrate an act by a man who committed equally hideous crimes. And what an indictment of the prison system that this was allowed to happen in the first place.

Oohd · 07/03/2026 10:24

My thoughts are with Holly and Jessica parents today. The attacker does not deserve any glorifying,he is another evil creature .

No. No medal for the prisoner that did it

do you understand why ?

Laiste · 07/03/2026 10:25

Well, the triple murderer and rapist who killed Huntley has at least performed a service to society while in prison!

I don't think anyone thinks he actually deserves any medals. It's just a figure of speech.

The world is a slightly better place with one less child killer in it.

DestinedToBeOutlived · 07/03/2026 10:28

My thoughts remain with Holly and Jessica's families, and I hope they get privacy to navigate, what are likely to be, some very complicated feelings.

Tink3rbell30 · 07/03/2026 10:29

Medal? The killer is just as evil.

Goldmonkey · 07/03/2026 10:29

Shame.

But just to be clear. This is the man you think deserves a medal? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-60707696

The families of the three people he murdered would probably have other opinions. I’m with them frankly.

He’s no Jack Reacher is he?

Anthony Russell

Anthony Russell: Triple killer given whole-life prison sentence

Anthony Russell admitted killing three people, raping his final victim before strangling her.

The only people anyone should think of today are Holly and Jessica and their families.

PandoraSocks · 07/03/2026 10:31

I am not sorry he is dead, but the violence at the prison needs to be addressed. It is not just prisoners who are being attacked there.

Yes, I wonder if the OP would volunteer to pin the medal on him that they said he desereves.

HoskinsChoice · 07/03/2026 10:32

A human being has brutally murdered another human being. Celebration and medals are wildly inappropriate no matter who the victim was. This also throws huge concern over the leadership and safety of our prisons.

There is no joy to be taken from this.

LadyMacbethWasFierce · 07/03/2026 10:34

I am largely neutral about Huntley having died. From the (admittedly quite slight) I know about his life in prison it was a very difficult existence. So I don’t think he was deriving much pleasure from being alive. But he wasn’t given a whole life term (minimum 40 years) and I can see, on reflection, that even though the prospect of him ever being released was pretty remote, given he was younger than Jessica’s and Holly’s parents, it would have been a torment for them to reach old age with him still alive and wondering if one day he might be released; even as an old man. So I am glad they have been spared that at least.

But the idea we might say “well done” to Huntley’s killer appals me. He is no hero and did not kill Huntley out of a sense of justice. Just his own desire for notoriety. If the killer was (as is reported) Anthony Russell then he’s committed crimes just as bad as Huntley’s (including the rape and murder of a pregnant woman). Just imagine if you were a member of the family of any of his 3 victims right now, hearing him being praised would be very hard to deal with. I think it is in very poor taste indeed to glorify such a man.

HornyHornersPinger · 07/03/2026 10:34

Yanbu and I'm pissed off we've kept him warm, fed and clothed all these years. In cases like his where its a slam dunk that they're the guilty party - I wish we had the death penalty and that all child killers and pedos are 1st in line for it.

Anewuser · 07/03/2026 10:34

I can’t imagine Holly and Jessica’s parents are throwing a party. Nothing will ever bring those two little girls back.

I’m not sad Huntley is dead, but no-one in prison should be murdered. The perpetrator isn’t a hero either.

Huntley wanted to die - he should have lived every day knowing, and being reminded, what a monster he was.

Hopefulmama26 · 07/03/2026 10:35

NetcurtainProblem · 07/03/2026 10:10

All I hope is that the families have some kind of closure. I can’t rejoice in anyone’s death I’m just neutral on this one. Clearly no loss to society but to be gleeful about any violent attack feels wrong somehow.

You’ve put into words what I am thinking and feeling. I felt I was alone in this so thank you.

ThatCyanCat · 07/03/2026 10:35

a medal to whoever did it

No.

Naunet · 07/03/2026 10:36

A good day for tax payers who resent having to fund the life of filth like him.

HelloVoid · 07/03/2026 10:38

I’m glad he’s dead but just from the point of view not having to fund his existence anymore. Even worse would have been if he’d pulled through but gone on for many more years in a vegetative state which would have cost a fortune.

Walli2 · 07/03/2026 10:38

He would never have been freed anyway. I don't believe that anyone who advocates giving a rapist and murderer a medal truly cares about stopping violence against women and girls.

Endofyear · 07/03/2026 10:39

I'm certainly not sad that he's dead. I hope at the end he felt some measure of the fear and pain he inflicted on those two lovely little girls. And I feel for their families today, with it all being dragged up and in the media again, it must bring it all back 😢

StormyLandCloud · 07/03/2026 10:39

BillieWiper · 07/03/2026 10:10

Seeing as he kept on trying to commit suicide they actually ended up giving him what he wanted. So I think medals might not quite be in order. The guy who killed him was also already a brutal murderer of innocent people.

He’ll likely get a longer sentence, so that’s a win!

MmeWorthington · 07/03/2026 10:39

No medal to the rapist murderer who attacked him.

Honestly no one is going to mourn IH but how the hell do you think the relatives of the murdered raped (incl pregnant) victims of his attackers feel seeing you celebrating him? Do you think they are thinking "oooh, what luck that our loved ones died so that he got jailed and could murder IH?"

Total idiocy.
