What was that???

a few hours ago I get a knock on the door. It’s a young white woman in bathrobe, slippers and a towel on her head.

Says she is my upstairs neighbour. I don’t open door, ask how can I help

says she is here to pick up her parcel and shows a photo of parcel

i reply “we never got a parcel, we don’t have it”

she says “what do you mean?? I have proof. I have a photo!!!! Give it to me now!”

I again say we don’t have it.

she starts raising her voice “open the door right now! You stole it didn’t you! I will not leave till you open this door!!”

I tell her once again, “miss, we don’t have it. Please leave”

she says I AM CALLING THE POLICE!!!

I hear her in corridor get her phone out and say “hello yes police? I’d like to report a stolen parcel. Yes. Yes. Yes. Flat 5. Yes. Yes. this short white blonde woman and a white brunette middle aged overweight woman. And this white middle aged big tall guy with glasses. They sound Eastern European. They have 2 kids, one teenager living with them, family of 5. They all live in this flat. They need to be punished! Yes. Ok thank you! Thank you!

she then says “POLICE WILL BE HERE ANY MINUTE”

I am very shocked and confused and annoyed and my mum who was there rolls her eyes.

half an hour later, police haven’t arrived but son comes home.

i tell him what happened. Ask him if he knows anything about a parcel. He says “wait what flat she said she from?” what she look like?”

he then says a black older woman lives there with her teen sons. Says he knows her son.

he goes upstairs, asks if they or someone in their family/relatives/friends were looking for a parcel. They have no idea what he is talking about, they never ordered anything, and they don’t know a young white lady.

what the hell???

was this some kind of prank?

Ironically one of the reasons I left it out was because I was worried I’d be accused of making stuff up

Understandable.

look OP that conversation never happened, whoever that person was, they were faking it, they weren't talking to the police, and the police would not have the resource to respond to that.

just ignore, or take photos of her and you call the police next time. Surely you don't need MN to give you permission!

TheFilliesWillRiseAgain · 05/03/2026 06:56

Why didn't you mention in the OP that this isn't the first time this has happened?

When you last did a thread on this, was it the same woman?

I genuinely don’t see it

I said age and gender too. Simply describing

if you think I’m making white people look bad because that lady was white, well I’m a white myself. And if you think I’m making black people look bad? How? They are victims too some crazy scammer is impersonating their flat

i mentioned race to describe how shocking it was to see black people come out when I expected a white woman. (She was very convincing) just like last time this happened I was shocked to see a young man and not a posh elderly lady come out

You saw black people come out? I thought you said your son told you who lived there first not that you saw them come out first.

CanISeeYourLicence · 05/03/2026 07:26

On our local facebook community page there have been a spate of these. Usually a white woman who is claiming anything- parcel, lost, wants to use a phone charger. There is a male hanging back. The alerts have come out on the lcoal pages and as far as i am aware nobody has opened the door, but it's not hard to imagine what would happen if they did - home invasion, pressure and coercian, theft etc.

Bananalanacake · 05/03/2026 08:09

If someone described me as middle aged and overweight I'd be a tad pissed off and never speak to them again.

MushMonster · 05/03/2026 08:15

Oh wow! Attempted burglary entrance/ scam.
Report it to the mon emergency number or website.
Your police force needs to know this is going on.
The bath robe and towell are there to make you feel worried about her getting cold and make her look like a neighbour and no threat. It is clever! And fucking dangerous! It is likely this woman is not on her own. But that there was someone around just waiting for that door to open.

@Luxurylifequeen Not to alarm you OP but this call was to whomever she was casing your property for. She was confirming or giving a description of who lives in your flat to them. She didn't give the address and only confirmed the flat no because she didn't have to. They already knew where she was.

"They need to be punished" sounds like code for "go for it" or maybe the opposite. I'd be careful especially since you have kids. Especially if this has happened before. Maybe this second time was to confirm the first for them.

Have you contacted 101 for advice? (sorry if you have already answered this - I checked but couldn't see)
