Thanks for that, at last we have voices of reason.

dottiehens · 11/03/2026 09:17

Very sad but it seems you only started this post to point out that was the US. You do not want to hear otherwise. Were you as concerned when the Iranian regime killed 30.000 people only a few weeks ago?

RichardOnslowRoper · 11/03/2026 09:18

Hard to know what Iranians in the country are thinking, but here's a BBC story. Mixed feelings, it seems, after 10 days of the war. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cev7llekwllo

I don't know if that was aimed at me, but yes, I was very vocal on the slaughter of the Iranian citizens by the regime, to the extent that I was being attacked on other forums, such as Craig Murray's blog, saying that I was a Mossad / Trump supporter and that the numbers of victims of the regime had been grossly overstated by Western press. Please understand, I have family (on my wife's side) in Iran, I have visited the country several times and I know what the regime is capable of.
I seem to be caught in the middle here, hated by the US/Israel apologists and hated by the Iranian regime apologists. At the moment, all three of those entities are carrying out evil deeds, with the innocent civilians paying the price.

Perhaps if you stopped referring to people as "apologists" you would get a better reaction from people online who have different opinions to you.

Hate is a strong word too. Reasonable people accept that we all see the world differently.

Alexandra2001 · 11/03/2026 07:36

Yes 100%.

Its all very well seeking to take out an evil regime but if in doing so you make matters worse for the population, then its all very wrong.

Listening to the US administration, one could be forgiven for thinking it was a Hollywood Steven Seagal B movie.

The defence of the deaths and injuries caused by the Israelis and the US on here is quite disgusting.

Another problem I heard on the news this morning from someone reporting is that the US/Israel are bombing essential infrastructure in Iran which means the country will be even more difficult to stabilise should the Iranian people find a way to try to topple the regime.

It's almost like that's the whole point. Choas in Iran is a perfectly acceptable outcome for Netanyahu. If countries are consumed by internal political strife, even civil war, they can’t get their acts together and turn on Israel. It's a mistake to think that Netanyahu’s only desirable endgame is stability in Iran.

ComradeAmoeba · 11/03/2026 16:14

As many of us suspected, despite the propaganda on this thewad and others:

A preliminary investigation into the bombing of an Iranian girls’ elementary school found that the US is to blame for the strike that killed at least 175 people, according to the New York Times.

Citing unnamed officials familiar with the preliminary findings, the Times reports that Tomahawk missile strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school was the result of a “targeting mistake” by the US military, which was conducting strikes on an adjacent Iranian base, which used to include the school building.

They are bombing critical security infrastructure, according to Pete Hegseth the US defence secretary, from his media briefing at the Pentagon yesterday:

Obliterate Iran's missiles and drones and facilities that produce them
Annihilate it's Navy and critical security infrastructure
And sever their pathway to nuclear weapons.
Iran will never possess a nuclear bomb.

Sherbs12 · 11/03/2026 16:48

I’m struggling to understand how we’re meant to give Hegseth and his statements any credibility at this point.

Senator Chris Murphy’s comments on this have been interesting, following the Iran briefing - I’ll post screenshots…goals, strategy, future planning seem to be somewhat questionable.

Well the US are quite far along with achieving those stated goals so that's why I think they have credibility.

The US explicitly didn't give goals at the start of the war so that they could claim victory regardless of what happened.

That's not true. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) commenced Operation Epic Fury with the goal of striking targets to dismantle the Iranian regime’s security apparatus, prioritizing locations that pose an imminent threat. They had a list of targets:

Command and Control Centers
IRGC Joint Headquarters
IRGC Aerospace Forces Headquarters
Integrated Air Defense Systems
Ballistic Missile Sites
Iranian Navy Ships
Iranian Navy Submarines
Anti-ship Missile Sites
Military Communication Capabilities

Notonthestairs · 11/03/2026 17:26

That looks like a list of sites hit in the first 72 hours.

Notonthestairs · 11/03/2026 17:29

I can't be the only one confused, Macron has asked Trump to clarify his ultimate objectives.

Ihatetomatoes · 11/03/2026 08:52

If Iranian people wish to cheer on the deaths of their evil regime, surely they should be allowed to without criticism from people who don't really understand what they are going through. Similar with Iranian people that have fled

You don't seem to have managed to read what I wrote and are just using a straw man distraction.
How many Iranians are cheering now, for the regime that hasn't been overthrown? I haven't seen any recent footage of this but have seen some anti US, pro regime supporters. Do you think they are cheering the death and destruction caused by the US and Israel? What would they be cheering for now exactly?

They clearly have no interest in helping the Iranian people at all. That was already obvious to anyone with sense/any awareness of history though!

The Pentagon has investigated and found that America did bomb the school murdering all of those school girls.

You missed out "Schools" on that list.

Apparently the Israelis helped draw up targets, so that may explain it.

The US came out with 3 entirely different war aims & justifications, now claim "Victory" whilst ships still cannot sail through 'Hormuz..... they are nothing more than a bunch of murdering Cowboys, UN says approx 2000 people have died since conflict began.

As for destroying Anti Ship Missile capability, well thats worked well, Trump will go down as the POTUS who wrecked the World Economy, along with ours.

It will be extremely difficult to to stop random attacks, now Bahrain oil depots hit, along with tankers well away from the conflict zone.

Schools not a target. As people well know.

Don't forget hospitals and desalination plans @Alexandra2001.

As you say, if this is allowed to continue, there will be major economic consequences at the very least, less for the US than for Europe and the UK. Things could get even worse than that though.

I’m not desperate to defend anyone.
Do you genuinely believe the American military deliberately bombed a school when there was a perfectly legitimate target next door?

You missed out the word ‘accidentally’.

That because the word is irrelevant.

Hitting a child who has run out directly in front of a car is an accident.

Dropping a bomb on a pre existing static object such as a school is an incident and certainly not an accident
