Yes please. He’s an absolute knob cheese.

Shouldn't you be in school?

Netanyahu gave a press conference saying he has been waiting 40 years to destroy Iran like this. Netanyahu is a war criminal who needs to be locked up.

Poor, innocent Iran, right?

You know there's a clock in Tehran that counts down to the destruction of Israel?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine_Square_Countdown_Clock

Do you think that Iran hasn't been trying to destroy Israel through the terrorist groups it funds like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis?

Of course they are not poor and innocent. When did I say that?

I still think Netanyahu is a war criminal and so does the ICC. If he was innocent he would prove it.

Schools attacked in Iran it's just more of the same old Netanyahu tactics.

Trump assasinating a leader to stop them getting nuclear weapons when he shows no interest in giving up his own massive arsenal is pure hypocrisy,.

He's a dick.

You do know that Reform and the Conservatives are supporting Trump's strikes don't you?

Seems likely we would be getting more involved not less if one of them were in charge.

Also a terrorist attack, likely from UK citizens is far more likely than 'war strikes' whatever those are.

Well, I dunno, commenting in hushed tones that Netanyahu would like to see Iran destroyed without mentioning that Iran has been working really hard to destroy Israel seems like a bit of a biased analysis of the situation.

It certainly comes across like some people can do nothing other than bleat 'Israel bad'.

Do you think it is 'good' to break international law and start illegal wars? Is it really that straight forward do you think or do you think the situation might just be a bit more nuanced than some people are claiming it to be?

Not Israel bad, Netanyahu bad. That is the not the same thing. Many Israeli's are disgusted at their war mongering leader.

Iran wants to destroy Israel, not merely Netanyahu. I'm not sure you'll find many fans of Iran in Israel.

I don't think it's good to murder 35,000 people for protesting either, or to murder women for showing a bit of hair, or to hang gays from cranes.

These people suggesting that Iran was close to agreeing nuclear deals or whatever to try to get them off the hook are absolutely deranged.

Celebrate war if you like. I'm pretty anti war in most circumstances. Iran having nuclear weapons is just the same weapons of mass destruction lie the US used when they wanted to get Iraqi oil. You can tell it is lies because it was only a few month ago Netanyahu and Trump when on their last bombing jolly and said they had set back the programme decades.

Yes i don't think anyone has said that it is good to murder protesters have they? Are people defending that because all I have seen is people defending the degradation of the laws that are in place to protect sovereign countries and the lives and dignity of people. Israel is being ran by man who has warrants out for his arrest for war crimes, it has just broken international law again, started an illegal war and you are worried that people are 'bleating Israel bad'? Why would it worry you that people are criticising this behaviour?

I'm not celebrating war.

But if Iranians are celebrating the murder of their Supreme Leader, then perhaps it wasn't an entirely bad thing.

Of course if you'd have preferred him to continue massacring innocent protesters/gays/women that's up to you.

No but you just don't understand weeks and decades. Iran have been weeks away from having nuclear weapon for decades and now they are decades away from having nuclear weapons for weeks or something like that.....

Who is protecting the lives and dignity of the Iranian people?

I don't see why we are going anything. Every anti drone missile we fire costs us over £300,000.

We should not be associating ourselves with US/Israeli war mongering. Imagine the US outrage if the Iranian's had assassinated Trump.

Tell that to the British service personnel on Akrotiri base.
We have always been a target for Iran and it's only distance that's stopped them. Although they do keep trying to carry out terror attacks.

noblegiraffe · 02/03/2026 13:58

People who have been insisting that we must step in to prevent the murder of Palestinian people now insist that international law means we absolutely shouldn't do anything about the murder of Iranians.

So it's ok to break international law and put the whole world at risk on the off chance you might possibly be helping the Iranian people? Because let's face it historically foreign countries over throwing regimes hasnt quite protected people has it. Where's next? Are you up for blowing up Sudan, they are suffering terribly. North Korea have you heard what is happening there? Blow that up too. China? Blow it up. Mexico? Blow it up. Palestians are suffering terribly are we blowing up Israel too?

Do you not see how dumb a strategy that is? How does that make people safer?

If we didn't want to be a target for Iran, maybe we shouldn't have overthrown their democratic government and installed a repressive dictator.

Just an idea.

People weren't suggesting that we go and assinate Netanyahu and drop bombs on Israels military ffs. They were talking about legal means, acting within International law, stopping arms sales, imposing sanctions, arresting war criminals. Not acting like feral war mongerers and toppling Israels governments.

I just think people are picking and choosing which mass murders to be shocked, outraged and demanding international action over.

I suspect there's only any interest in what's going on in Iran now that Israel is involved.

I don't think you are reading the situation correctly at all. Where have the protests been demanding that the UK government or any other government go and assasinate Netanyahu and start dropping bombs all over Israel? There's a huge difference between stop the sales of arms and go blow shit up!!

Araminta1003 · 02/03/2026 14:10

“But if Iranians are celebrating the murder of their Supreme Leader, then perhaps it wasn't an entirely bad thing.”

Not just that, there must have been people in Iran helping Israel/the US to get him in the first place, possibly even within the Revolutionary Guard. Who knows, we certainly won’t know everything.
The “Iranian people” will be as divided as we are here about the Tories/Labour/Green/Reform etc and the US is about Trump and this war itself.

We can sit here speculating and thinking Trump went for it because he got away with it in Venezuela and is gambling, but none of us actually know what is going on and what is real and what is not and what is purposefully faked or not. We do not even know what US may already have agreed with China or Russia or India or not agreed etc etc.

SerendipityJane · 02/03/2026 14:18

The “Iranian people”

Makes as much sense - or is as insulting - as saying "The British People".

Oh I am definitely reading the situation correctly when people rush to a thread to bang on about how terrible Netanyahu is whenever there's the slightest opportunity to do so.

Also, when people who are very clear that Netanyahu is a war criminal who wants to wipe out Palestinians based on his actions and words suddenly start believing that Iran actually isn't that keen on nuclear weapons because they told Oman they aren't. Like, are you serious? You're believing Iran?

Polanski, Corbyn and their merry band of deranged fuckwits, for example.

You make no sense. The Iranians don't have nuclear missles anymore than Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. It is just the populist call to arms to say something scary is going to blow you up. There is only one country that has ever used Nuclear Weapons, and it wasn't the Iranians.
