He think this will all soon blow over

Reasons for going there, it's not too far to fly, the sea is nice and warm, and the beach nice, nice standard of hotels and restaurants

Dubai’s boom as a holiday spot is mostly luxury, shopping, and flashy experiences—people love the glitz and Instagram vibes.

He could get that in Puerto Banus or Ibiza.

JulieMcCoy · 02/03/2026 05:50

I assume OP isn’t in the U.K. as they mention Dubai being a short flight away.

Bringemout · 02/03/2026 05:58

It’ll probably be over by then.

pestowithwalnuts · 02/03/2026 06:01

How does he know it will all be over by October...?
Has he the gift of Clarevoyence ?
He's an idiot..
Even if it is over the place will be a mess

GoldbergVariations · 02/03/2026 06:46

I'm sorry OP, he's a fool. We've written off our plans to go to Cyprus for the foreseeable.

Notmyreality · 02/03/2026 06:49

Oh another Dubai thread. How original. 1/10 For effort.

DappledThings · 02/03/2026 06:50

Loads of Southern Europe is lovely and warm still in October.

goz · 02/03/2026 06:52

Is there anything that can put people off Dubai?

Rayqueen2026 · 02/03/2026 06:52

Nope wouldn't go against foreign office advice and you lose out on insurances etc

NoArmaniNoPunani · 02/03/2026 06:52

Maximise his life insurance and wave him off from the airport.

MeAndMyGhost · 02/03/2026 06:56

October is a long way off. A week is a long time in the Middle East, anything can and does change at a moment's notice.

If you didn't need to book right now, I'd wait a couple of months.

Butchyrestingface · 02/03/2026 06:56

Does he think he’s gonna get a really good package deal or something?

Let him go. You go to Spain. Take out generous life insurance on him. Sorted.

StrawberryElephants · 02/03/2026 06:59

Well then you've married an idiot.

People booking holidays to Dubai after this should sign a disclaimer that says they agree they wont be rescued by British Government and that they can afford to bring themselves home and stay safe at their own cost.

It will already cost billions to bring people with British passports home (which is fair enough because they didnt know this was coming). However, to book it and know this is going on is just careless and a bit natural selection tbh.

DrySherry · 02/03/2026 07:05

"Exactly. Go to Spain. They’re on the right side of history"

Brilliant, though I expect many may miss your heavy sarcasm completely!

Spains history of atrocities is appalling - driven by religious intolerance and colonial expansion, resulting in massive demographic shifts and the destruction of indigenous cultures.

The real issue is why anyone wants to book a holiday in any month, ever, to this toxic shit hole.

This

This. Slavery. It’s gross. Plenty of places that are not too far to fly have nice beaches.

MushMonster · 02/03/2026 07:16

No way I would be booking anything on the Middle East at this point. Neither any flight that goes over.
Stay in Europe or North Africa.

FishersGate · 02/03/2026 07:16

Just reaffirm my lack of desire to visit in the first place.

Oh please 🙄

EasternStandard · 02/03/2026 07:18

Why not wait before booking

Probably not Egypt!

How is he going to get insurance? Must companies won't insure against foreign office advice. They are telling people not to go at the moment.

Pick somewhere in the Med. Hopefully this will all be over quickly, but we said the same about Ukraine and that's still going on.

Pick somewhere in the med? Like Cyprus do you mean?

MushMonster · 02/03/2026 07:31

FishersGate · 02/03/2026 07:17

Oh please 🙄

What about living today in today's world?
Or..... well, do not set foot anywhere in the world!
This of constantly living in someone else's past is plain ridiculous. But, if you are such a thinker, please stay the fuck out Spain and UK. Go live in a cave in a lost island.

MushMonster · 02/03/2026 07:32

PeppyBrickQuoter · 02/03/2026 07:19

Yeah, sorry, West North Africa indeed! Like Morocco.

IcantFeelMyFaceNow · 02/03/2026 07:46

Get him insured and let him go if he really wants to.

Is he normally hard of thinking?
