What’s the most unusual name a child in your kids class at school has had?

At our sons last school there was a Wolfgang, it suited him so much. There was also a little girl called Siren, as in Greek mythology, not a police siren.

I knew a Wolfie. His siblings were Elbereth and Malach

I'm my child's class there is a Xaos (girl). Also Priscilla, Tygi and Phoenix all WB.

worldshottestmom · 01/03/2026 20:39

Not my kids class, but in my class and some in years below me, there was Knowledge, Justice, Toofpeek, and Manchop. My sister was in a class with someone who's name, was name. Perhaps not spelt the same but pronounced the same.

I'd like to add i dont think its inherently racist to find unusual names funny. Its just funny. Its not attacking culture or being prejudice, it just sounds unusual to people so used to hearing Adam and Eve as names, yano?

The one that stood out to me was Rachel
You don't often hear that on under 35s!

I have a lot of friends called Rachel (mid 30s) and taught a little girl called Rachel last year an it felt so strange at first, as you just don’t hear it at all on younger ones now do you!

Oh boy

I only heard of it quite recently, new to me as I have no children in my family. So sorry to have offended you

My DDs now mid-20s had loads of Rachels at school.

Boy called Bernard. Unusual for a 3 year old.

We have Artemis, Zion and Coco - like all of them.

Artemis and Zion are very middle class. Coco - not so much - but this must be a nickname. For example, Colin but we call him Coco.

I know a Coco who is Coco on her birthday certificate. Like your examples - parents are very middle-class.

In one class there is a Wolf, Hunter, Storm and Fox - all boys. They sound like they should be a crime fighting gang, but they are all really kind and sweet natured.
Another class has a Beatrix, Boaz, and twins Marcello and Miguel.
I love the unusual names

FondOfOwls · 01/03/2026 21:01

Arraminta · 01/03/2026 21:04

There was a Thorin, Marmaduke, Lancelot, Florian and Dion (short for Dionysus) at my private school.
