I’ve checked this too. To be specific:
”Andreas Papandreou Air Base
(also known as Paphos Air Base) is the primary military airbase of the Cyprus Air Force, situated on the north side of Paphos International Airport. It acts as a key strategic hub for the Cypriot National Guard, hosting attack and search-and-rescue helicopters. The base is undergoing a U.S.-backed expansion to increase capacity for humanitarian aid, evacuation operations, and regional security, with upgrades planned for completion around 2026.”
So it seems that it’s not a US base per se, but the US are increasingly using it…
However, of all the places Iran could potentially attack, there are many, many more far closer and more prominent, and they’d have to fly a missile over Israel to hit Cyprus. Any missiles they are going to be able to lob in that direction are almost certainly going to be directed towards Israel itself, and moreover Israel are able to shoot them pretty much all down all missiles down coming their way!
Besides, even if the regime does survive, a very big “if”, any residual capacity for striking foreign bases with missiles will be wiped out within days. There may be a very small threat just at the moment, but shortly that will be effectively reduced to zero.
It’s very possible there may be terrorist attacks in the weeks and months ahead as a result of what’s happening in Iran, but nowhere is safe from those, and if you want to be sure of avoiding those, you’ll need to cocoon yourself away at home.
