Whether it’s Trump crowing about elections being stolen (although not those he actually won) and Farage moaning about “sectarian voting and cheating” in Denton and Gorton, why can’t they just take a defeat on the chin? You win some, you lose some. Congratulate the winner, reflect, and then move on to the next one.

Trump is obviously a crass and bizarre individual, but in America this century, there have been riots and violence when the left-wing party has lost, not when the right-wing party has lost.

i think the Gorton and Denton concerns were raised by the independent election observers.

The craziest claim I've read on this site for quite some time. Well done!

@SomerfordI answered at 10.03 that I misremembered the word he said and he probably said Brexit, my memory for exact nouns 7 years ago isn’t perfect but I remembered the event perfectly well otherwise. The fraud attempt was stopped by officials anyway and didn’t have any bearing on the result so I had no reason to think about it since then until now.

Last year I went to have a mammogram at a mobile unit in Slough. As I was queuing to get in a man and his wife were waiting to go in. The nurse said no men allowed but he tried to push past her saying that his wife didnt speak English. She wouldnt let him in of course and he wasnt violent but very persistent.

After I went in I asked her if that was common and she said every day! Its a cultural difference but one we cannot allow to take over what is women only spaces.

For some women in some cultures they do not have a voice.

She looks bloody great. I can see why people voted for her over that weasel Goodwin. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwygp3dqenwo

And before Labour.

Allegedly.

Yes, I've been interested to notice how many people have uncritically accepted the claims from Democracy Volunteers.

It still doesn't make sense. In the 2019 election, The Brexit Party stood candidates down in the majority of constituencies to give Boris Johnson's Conservatives a clear run.

So having mis-remembered the name of the party that you heard, you'd now like us to accept that your constituency was in the minority of constituencies with a Brexit Party candidate and this elderly man's career was prepared to commit a criminal offence in order to garner a single vote for a party which, by it's own admission, had no intention of winning the election? Sorry but it sounds like absolute horseshit. Starting with "oh if Reform didn't exist at the time, it must have been The Brexit Party then.."

Islamophobia is terrible terminology. There is nothing irrational about fearing sectarian socially ultra conservative theological influence in government.

This is like saying you hate Christians because they are violent thugs who burn crosses, lynch black people and support the extermination of Jews. Do you not understand this?

There are several billion Muslims who live life peacefully and quietly. They should not be defined by the zealots who proport to advocate for their religion.

SquirrelMadness · 27/02/2026 11:33

According to the BBC, "Greater Manchester Police tell the BBC they have had "no reports" of electoral offences at the by-election" and "The council, whose returning officer oversaw the election, said polling station staff were trained to look for undue influence on voters, and "no such issues" had been reported."

The electoral commission is encouraging "anyone who believes an offence has occurred to report it to the relevant force".

I don't know why some people are talking about family voting as if it's a fact when so far no evidence whatsoever has been reported.

That horrible woman Andrea Jenkyns was on Jeremy vibe earlier and she was pissed! She kept saying that Hannah had a 1.25M house empire (hardly an empire!), that’s not very green is it … thankfully the other chap whose name escapes me was Green and kept arguing. She’s also been really dreadful to Marina Purkiss on that programme, was really rude telling her il
not listening to you as you only have a little podcast and have no clue, then proceeded to ignore her, and even said she’d walk off if Marina didn’t stop (… telling her some home truths!)

randomchap · 27/02/2026 11:40

They are talking about it as that's the narrative that Reform wants to push.

Demonise Muslims, accuse them of cheating, but offer no evidence.

Of course, Reform did inadvertently commit an offense by not having their details on some literature

No the result in Manchester is great … if you’re ok with it now becoming acceptable for men to dictate how their wives vote in elections. Welcome to modern Britain

What about the attempted coup in 2021 (when the least right wing of America's parties won)

What evidence are you basing your post on?

According to the BBC, "Greater Manchester Police tell the BBC they have had "no reports" of electoral offences at the by-election" and "The council, whose returning officer oversaw the election, said polling station staff were trained to look for undue influence on voters, and "no such issues" had been reported."

Plenty of centrist right wing voters went Remain. I live with one.

Indeed, and plenty of left wingers supported Leave. Brexit transcended party politics. If anything it consolidated the centrists.

Very true, which is why we need to be doing everything we can to stop a reform government getting into power.

I don’t trust the depth of reform. The top team seem to me to make sense, but I don’t think they bat all the way down without getting to the crazies. Crikey give me them over the unholy alliance though.

Yeah. Tories lost their deposit in Gorton & Denton, all Kemi could find to say is that “Keir Starmer has destroyed the Labour Party”. What about the Tory performance Kemi?

Kemi seems to think it’s Labour’s job to keep their seat warm for Tories and to do her dirty work against Reform. No strategy of her own.

They've not reported it to the police

If they have evidence then they should report it. It's their duty.

So "clear" that they apparently witnessed it happening repeatedly, at multiple polling places, yet didn't bother to mention it once to any of the overseeing staff while it could have actually been addressed, and instead waited until the polls closed, the result was declared, and then kicked up a fuss.

The Presiding Officer has pretty much lambasted it as baseless shite, only far more tactfully than I would have.

All they can do is attack the individual

I keep seeing posts saying Hannah Spencer is a property mogul, that she’s married to a
billionnaire, and some newspaper columnist accused her of having hair like a child. That’s the level we’ve got to. Total and utter nonsense.

Attack their policies, fair enough, there’s plenty to go at. But play the ball, not the (wo)man.

Starmer whingeing about extremists on the left qualifies for sore loser territory too. Though given that he's essentially a right-winger, maybe that's just more evidence to back up the premise.
