Wtf?

OP posts:
Charlize43 · 26/02/2026 06:49

I can't watch them.

I hope the 'free Britney' people are proud of themselves now that she is thousands of pounds less wealthier after her last husband bilked her (which everyone could see coming a mile off).

While she's not doing anyone any harm with her manic dancing, I wish there was someone there to stop her exploiting herself. Instagram is full of bizarre, extreme forms of narcissism (Louise Thompson in perfect make-up, face tuned, and crying on camera in a really performative way). Even more bizarre, if you think that Britney might have someone editing & uploading and managing her social media for her. I find it really distasteful that mental health disturbances are used for clickbait and entertainment.

Maybe she’s fine and it’s us. Maybe we’re the ones who need the help.
I mean, it’s none of my never mind what she does or doesn’t do or posts or doesn’t post.

Maybe one of us should contact the authorities and report her disturbing behaviour if it’s as terrible and worrying as you say, instead of discussing it for 4 pages so far on Mumsnet.

But stop wringing your hands and furrowing your brows and acting all so concerned and then do absolutely nothing except keep commenting for another 4 pages.

That’s the very worst kind of caring.

But what can be done? I think it is fair enough to want to lament with others about how unwell she seems right now. People feel a connection with her. And, she was absolutely shafted by the people who should have cared for her most. It’s just all very sad.

You really think one of us “contacting the authorities” is going to result in anything happening? Like it’s that easy 😂 what, ring up an American police department and say you saw Britney Spears, yes the real Britney, in a weird post online?

DeftGoldHedgehog · 26/02/2026 06:57

I went to have a look and was expecting a lot worse from the comments here. She looks in pretty good physical shape to me, yes maybe slightly off her tits on something or other on the videos but she's not harming anyone. I've seen worse in choreographed professional videos. If you don't like it, don't look. I don't suppose she'll miss you as she seems to have about 45 million followers.

Dagda · 26/02/2026 06:58

@Charlize43 but surely there is something between total control and no support at all.

It’s very difficult , my sister had a breakdown and was exploited by someone and we had no control and it felt very frustrating at the time. But I still don’t think what Britney experienced was the answer.

I agree on the social media stuff. It seems like exploitation to even look at them.

ninjaassassin · 26/02/2026 07:00

She is clearly not well but it annoys me when everyone bleats on about "she needs help". Yes, of course she does but do people realise how difficult it is to encourage someone with serious mental health issues to accept it?

I have worked in mental health myself and its very common that people stop taking their medication because they think they are getting better (thats only because they have been taking it prior) or they dont like the side effects. Then, their mental health inevitably deteriorates and they go into crisis again.

When she had conservatorship everyone was going on about how awful it was and how she ought to be free and this is the consequence. It's not simple or straightforward to get people to accept help, even when it's offered, they have the money and its freely available to them. I am quite sure she has been offered help and has had many interventions by professionals but if she wont accept that help then there isnt much anyone can do. Sadly, what usually happens is they have a mental health crisis and end up being sectioned. I hope for her sake this doesn't happen.

Don't you know her histrory? Have you not heard of the epstein files? Women and children being exploited do not get help from the authorities if there is someone above that authority who befits from her.

What do you mean? They had a pre-nup and were married less than 2 years, he is unlikely to have got much.

Sofamonkey2day · 26/02/2026 07:06

@NewZebra I didn't mean you. Meant the post you quoted

nam3c4ang3 · 26/02/2026 07:14

Yeah she’s not well. It’s sad.

ShawnaMacallister · 26/02/2026 07:16

Carla786 · 26/02/2026 05:28

Those saying Free Britney was wrong or she needs a conservatorship...she does need one but not run by her father, he's not to be trusted.

Nobody needs to be in a conservatorship. It's a hideous concept.

Goodluckanddontfitup · 26/02/2026 07:23

Sadly the free Britney campaign in the format took really has not helped her at all.
Not saying the conservativeship under her father should have have continued, things clearly needed to change. But the campaign I think has emboldened her to believe she is ‘ok’ and obviously she is not and needed to remain under some kind of support from
somewhere rather than just being left to her own devices

Pricelessadvice · 26/02/2026 07:27

I often look back at videos of her when she was at the top of her game and she was so naturally beautiful and sweet and she had the world at her feet. I even went to see her live as a teen when she did her first UK tour and it was one of the most incredible things I’d ever seen.
It’s tragic what has happened to her. I feel so desperately sad at how her life has turned out.

Watdidusay · 26/02/2026 07:30

Babsandherwabs · 25/02/2026 23:44

Yes where is everyone?? Her mum? Jamie Lynn? She has a brother too IIRC. Poor Brit and her poor kids.

It’s not just the dancing, it’s the odd baby photos and all the other bits on there…

Edited

There was a conservatorship, if you recall...

Ebok1990 · 26/02/2026 07:32

mjf981 · 26/02/2026 04:47

Why does it have to be a man??

Because where there's a woman to be exploited, there's always a man there to oblige.

Happyholidays78 · 26/02/2026 07:56

maskymask · 25/02/2026 23:52

Imo the conservatorship was needed.

I agree! But perhaps someone independent to manage it rather than family (especially if she was so against family having this power).

canisquaeso · 26/02/2026 07:58

She’s obviously very, very ill. I hope the free Britney crowd is happy now.

AnonSugar · 26/02/2026 07:59

Clearly drugs.

She was ill before, she's ill now. The conservatorship wasn't keeping her well.

usedtobeaylis · 26/02/2026 08:05

SpecialAgentMaggieBell · 25/02/2026 22:27

The last thing she needs is to still be controlled by her abusive father and his greedy cronies! She needs real help.

This. They've been significant contributors to her state of mind.

canisquaeso · 26/02/2026 07:58

The failure is in the lack of support she's had for her entire life. Being free from control is absolute bare minimum for a human.

usedtobeaylis · 26/02/2026 08:08

Mad how people think extreme control of every aspect of her life is desirable. Absolutes fucking lunatics.

OvernightBloats · 26/02/2026 08:40

What made her sell the rights to her music catalogue just recently? Why did she decide to do it right now? Is someone behind the scenes controlling her, trying to get hold of her money?

She is possibly being exploited again by a person who is also feeding her drugs. Someone who doesn't care about her at all.

Zennia · 26/02/2026 08:41

I loved her when I was a kid. I wonder why she doesn't have someone from her management team manage her social media. The videos make me question about her wellbeing. But there's a video of her behind the wheel of a car on her IG so I'd assume she's been assessed as competent to drive? If she was seriously erratic and unwell then I doubt she would have been able to keep her license.

AngryBird6122 · 26/02/2026 08:47

Some people really need to read her book
