So I have 1483 in my bank account. It needs to last til march 24th (next payday). Normally it’s not an issue but I need to spend 420 of this on a hotel and need spending of probably another 200-300 for that same weekend.(which is at the end of the month!
So that leaves about 760.
I need to buy dd new football boots. Probably around 20-30 for them.
it’s DD’s birthday and so I’ll need to get her gifts (another 100 I’m thinking)
god knows what else will crop up.
I also need to get petrol for my car from this.
tell me I’m not leaving myself short. I know I’m not I just hate thinking I’ll run out. What way would you manage it?

Do you have all bills and food covered for the next 4 weeks OP?

Yes, except one of 80. DD’s pocket money, fuel etc,

OP posts:
WallaceinAnderland · 25/02/2026 15:49

And how much does that add up to?

Edited

Right so you have about £550 left to last you 4 weeks....

As others have said, if you've already budgeted for everything else including food, bills, birthdays etc then I can't see what you're even slightly worried about?!

Moonnstarz · 25/02/2026 16:08

Now you have mentioned food isn't included then you have plenty left. If it's the same DD can't the boots be a birthday present anyway?

AlmostAJillSandwich · 25/02/2026 16:11

You've put into savings already you've said, so....... You've got savings you can dip in to, you really don't have an issue here, you're not going into an overdraft with literally no other money to your name, ffs.

holdtheline11 · 25/02/2026 16:18

Football boots can be second hand?

ldnmusic87 · 25/02/2026 16:49

Check Vinted for boots

noidea69 · 25/02/2026 16:54

Start an only fans, only way you are going to survive this month.

Seriously though if all your bills are taken care of, i dont see what issue is.

A few quiet weekends doing not a lot, no takeaways, meals out etc and you'll feel more on top of it.

Crunchymum · 25/02/2026 16:54

Why is the cost of the weekend away only bothering you now? Surely you knew the costs when you decided to book it?

You have savings? Dip into those if you fall short this month.

You are hardly on the bones of your arse.

naemates · 25/02/2026 17:10

Playing at poverty is gross OP

havingoneofthosedays · 25/02/2026 17:15

You mention you also have savings??

NoisyViewer · 25/02/2026 17:20

if I was you, I’d be putting money aside when you can so when things fall like this again you can have the reassurance of a safety net, you’ll be fine but you could save yourself all this anxiety

Reassureme12 · 25/02/2026 17:22

I can’t dip into the savings that’s for car insurance etc. not on the bones of my arse no but still have to make it work. Maybe I’m catastrophising yeah…

So it's not savings then...
Maybe you need to be clearer with your money and also save in advance for weekends away.

Nursemumma92 · 25/02/2026 17:29

I think you'll survive... 🙄

Ophy83 · 25/02/2026 17:33

If you've got savings and you've already got food what is the problem? You've got enough to see you through to payday and if an unexpected emergency arises that is what savings are for if necessary

Instructions · 25/02/2026 17:34

All your essential costs are met. You are not worrying about paying rent/mortgage, bills, for food. Yes. You have plenty. You will be fine.

Well long term savings can’t be accessed immediately…but my savings that I can access are designated for certain annual costs.

Well you need to stop putting so much into savings you cannot access it it causes you worry! I am sure a lot of people would like to be in a position of putting money into long term savings. You cannot claim you aren't sure you will be able to fund the month when 1. You are going away for a weekend and 2. You have money in savings.

Also most savings you can withdraw....it will obviously mess up any interest but if that desperate you could withdraw it.

Exactly. And she knew full well what she was doing hence the drip feed that all other bills were already deducted.

My thoughts too!

OP will have over £100 fun money per week which is more than lots of people have for a month.

All get bills are paid 🙄

Growlybear83 · 25/02/2026 18:38

If your food and bills are taken care of, then why is it an issue? Surely that’s plenty to see you through until the next pay day.

Reassureme12 · 25/02/2026 18:50

I didn’t mean for it to sound like that or be a drip feed I thought I said “I have 1483 LEFT in my bank account” accidentally left out that word. My apologies

WallaceinAnderland · 25/02/2026 18:55

Have you done the maths OP? How much will you have left in your bank account after you have covered all bills, food, birthday present, football boots, savings, hotel, petrol and weekend spending?

Whatever is left is the amount that you have which is not needed for anything else. How much is it?

After my last bill of 80, the hotel, spending money, DD’s boots, 50 for petrol for the month, DD’s pocket money and lunch money, DD’s birthday I should have 525 “left”. Will probably spend a bit getting lunches in work (I don’t always remember to bring lunch, especially when rushing!) there’s always something needed though. School trips etc etc.
