So my neighbour pees in his garden everyday instead of using his toilet his garden is right Infront of our front door I walked out at 8 in the morning to take my 7year old daughter to breakfast club and got a full view of his penis in his hand because he has gaps in his fence I did kick off on him and let him know my daughter was with me and he did nothing proceeded to carry on peeing so I've reported him to the council and they aren't doing anything about it he's also been reported to the police who still haven't done anything this was October it's now February I've been told by police I need proof but if I was to get a video or picture of him then I am at risk of going on the sex offenders register

Don't waste your time.
Our ex (we were very happy to find out he died!) neighbour used to pee, wank, wash himself naked in the middle of his garden. We (+ neighbours next door) spent almost 3 years reporting every single day for Police and Council and we were told off by both. As long as he is in his garden, even completely naked, nothing what they can do.

That's not the case. The housing office or the task force absolutely can tell the neighbour to stop peeing and being naked in his garden -they just chose not to in your case

Theraininspainishere · 22/02/2026 10:41

The OP has a very easy and cheap solution of blocking the view from her side of the fence.
If she chooses to look through at what he’s doing, a certain responsibility will lay with this choice.
Not everyone agrees with their neighbours choices.
It’s highly likely he’s doing this for a kick.

If I was distressed by the behaviour I would choose the quickest solution to this, which would be blocking the view.
Going to the council will likely be a long and frustrating experience which will exacerbate her distress.

I wonder why he would do that, it's so odd. Surely the police would respond with some evidence

My friends neighbour does the same, she also buries buckets of poo at the end of her garden.
She’s caught it all on her ring doorbell. Apparently her toilet is broken and she can’t afford a plumber.

Growlybear83 · 22/02/2026 10:42

@Theraininspainishere. But if the OP took the easy solution, she wouldn’t have anything to be outraged about.

if this man has a toilet in his house why does he need to pee in the garden?

To save on water costs?
To deter foxes? (Yes this works!)

Yep, DH and the lads all peed on the borders to deter the foxes when we got hens. It helped.

It's also recommended to pee on compost. We put a willow screen around it and the boys would pee on it when they were little.

To pee or not to pee: why urine's great for compost heaps

It saves water and helps composting, but would you use a 'pee bale', asks Jane Perrone

I would log complaint woth police that this man exposed himself to yourself and daughter.

I can understand not being happy about it, but looking through the fence at a bloke having a piss in his own garden isn't 'exposing' himself.

Just tack netting to the fence and it won't b a problem, whatever the neighbour does.

If a child can see a man's penis regardless of what he is doing. Its indecent exposure and its bordering on child abuse.

CombatBarbie · 22/02/2026 10:54

In his front garden? Is he viewable from the street. I had this with my neighbour whos renovating and has no water/toileting. Police did come out and warn him if he does it again he will be charged. From what I gather he now pees around the side out of view 🙄 instead of hiring a portaloo.

Anonanonay · 22/02/2026 11:06

I'd reframe it as 'my neighbour is deliberately exposing himself to my child'. You might get more traction that way.

He has a cheap and easy solution of not getting his penis out in full view of other people. The fact that he's completely unashamed about it tells you everything. Normal men would be mortified, apologise, then never do it again.

scottishgirl69 · 22/02/2026 10:33

It's not possible - it's fact. I can assure you that if I peed in my garden as a council tenant my landlord would not be happy about it and I would expect an anti social complaint to be made about me

Not all councils are exactly the same as yours though.

The OP has already reported this guy and they've done nothing about it.

They should be - it's anti social behaviour.

He didn't though.

And lying to the police could get the OP in serious trouble.

Catching a glimpse through a gap in the fence of someone having a wee in their own garden, does NOT mean he exposed himself to the OP and her daughter.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 22/02/2026 11:46

Get a powerful water pistol and squirt him every time you see him peeing

And boiled eggs should be runny but that's not always the case either 🤷‍♂️

There's no point in pretending just because one council acts a certain way, that they all do.

If OP and her child can only see through the gaps in his fence, as she’s stated, and it’s been an issue for months why wouldn’t you just put a screen in your garden? Seems like an incredibly easy and fast solution. Something like bamboo screening is super cheap.

Except that's not what the UK law says?

neilyoungismyhero · 22/02/2026 12:02

I might hose down my fence at the exact moment he's peeing. Sounds like you've gaps in the fence where the water may accidentally go through.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 22/02/2026 12:14

Id report him to the police. You and your daughter shod not have to put up with this.

For goodness sake. I wasn't pretending anything. The man is exposing himself and councils will have an anti social task force that should deal with issues like this.

INX · 22/02/2026 11:49

It is indecent exposure in the eyes of the law. He's standing in his garden with his penis in his hands.

Only if they consider it anti-social behaviour.

That's the point a few people have tried to make to you now.

Just because your council does, it doesn't necessarily mean they all do.

INX · 22/02/2026 12:18

Just because the police aren't doing anything - doesn't mean they are right. I think it's staggering that you seem to think this issue is not a big deal
