To think cillian Murphy’s wife has bloomed in middle age?

I remember long before pesky blinders, having a mild crush on Cillian. A lot of interviews he mentioned his wife and it’s obvious he adores her. I had a nosy and she looked like a normal, pretty, middle class Irish woman. But seeing her in photos lately at events: she looks, well, stunning: like a model or actress, the sort of woman you would look twice at. I think it’s fairly unusual to glow up in middle age: but she really looks amazing

Some weird responses on here. How is it insulting saying someone looks attractive?

It's weird and intrusive, why do you need to discuss this woman's face at all?

DeftGoldHedgehog · 21/02/2026 14:03

I think it's perfectly normal to comment on how other people look and I wouldn't trust anyone who says they don't, unless they are visually impaired.

There's a difference between saying positive things and a lot of obsessive negative bitching about minutiae of someone's appearance as I've seen on here sometimes.

Crunched · 21/02/2026 14:03

I always find it really icky when women comment on other women in this way.
Au contraire! If anyone wants to comment on my amazing midlife glow up I'd be delighted. (I haven't had one)

Both Cillian and his wife stay out of the limelight as much as possible.
She's a normal looking woman. I'd say she looks a lot better in real life, as already mentioned she's striking looking with piercing blue eyes, beautiful skin etc. She's not stereotypically Hollywood starling looking.
Most of us, if compared to the 1% of actresses that make it to these premieres and award ceremonies, would not compare well.
Cillian recently came out and said she has suffered from mental health issues and asked that people be kind about her.
This post strikes me as pretending to be kind but really looking for an unkind result but maybe I'm too cynical.

Only because we’re talking about it, I have never thought she was pretty. But that’s none of my business and I’m sure she doesn’t care. And she may be far more attractive in person when one meets her.

I see Fergle Sharkey when I see pictures of her. maybe it’s an Irish look.

Strange you don't want to post your photo 🤔It's totally normal to pick over women's looks and it won't be insulting.

But it’s not her that being the thread police is it? She doesn’t have a problem with the premise of the thread.

It's not normal to start a thread about someone though. Maybe comment in passing to someone to you're talking to, but startng a thread to say a woman used to look plain and now looks better is weird and not particularly nice.

In response to this thread I have just looked at pictures of them at the 2024 Oscars. No comment on Yvonne, who looks happily married to Cillian.
But OMG their sons are absolutely adorable! Gloriously fresh faced teenagers without any sign of being self conscious or glitzy or celebby. The couple has produced wonderful children.

nomas · 21/02/2026 14:26

She has a dissatisfied moue and Cillian is ageing fast.

Babyijustdontgetit · 21/02/2026 14:28

Looks are subjective…I think she’s really odd looking. As is he!

nomas · 21/02/2026 14:28

Chellybelle · 21/02/2026 13:35

Looks a laugh a minute.

It’s that moue.

NewGoldFox · 21/02/2026 14:36

I think the pink dress is working well for her.
A lot to be said for colour analysis, you can get chat gpt to do it for you op.

He’s 50. Happens to all of us

LaurieFairyCake · 21/02/2026 14:54

She has incredibly striking features with very sharp cheekbones and chin. And that grey stripe is fantastic.

she may be the most Irish looking woman I’ve ever seen 😂

LaurieFairyCake · 21/02/2026 14:57

And Keely Shaye Smith got a hammering for being overweight and it was so obvious she was utterly adored by her husband.

probably because she’s incredibly funny, intelligent and beautiful

When I was overweight I swear my husband didn’t notice, he just loved ME

Anonanonanonagain · 21/02/2026 14:57

Perhaps she is out the other side of peri? I know I look better now than i did when I was in my late 30's/early 40's as my weight went off just as quick as it went on, my skin is no longer red and ruddy looking and my hair is shiny. Of course I am spending more on skincare and on myself in general but I look better now than I did for about 10 years purely as I was going through peri.

It’s human nature to comment on people’s looks and utterly sanctimonious to feign offence. Pierce Brosnan’s wife got nasty comments because of her weight, this thread is not like that.

Human nature ?

Well perhaps it's an aspect of human nature that people should try reigning in

It's not sanctimonious to dislike gratuitous gossip, which is very often hurtful, about total strangers..

Shadeflower · 21/02/2026 14:59

Money, and in with all the top stylists etc and time, I'd imagine.

Yup. My friend is their teacher and my eldest dd has been at the same parties as the younger lad, they are normal south Dublin teenagers and that's probably because they haven't grown up in Hollywood or have parents who court publicity.
