So what do we think will happen to Andrew, could he actually go to prison?

I just don’t believe it could happen. Also I’d like him to go to prison for the sex offences, that seems more important than his sharing confidential information problem.

No they where CHILDREN.

I'm very suspicious that he got to have a downsizing clearout before the arrest. We were told his move out of Royal Lodge was expedited in reaction to senior royal annoyance over his being photographed in Windsor Great Park; but what advantageous timing.

I think the police have to be seen to be doing something but I suspect he won't be prosecuted due to lack of evidence/not meeting the threshold/some legal technicality.

CalmerTree · 19/02/2026 23:48

That’s what I said - currently he has been questioned about misconduct in a public office. We just don’t know what kind of misconduct, as is usual when a file has gone to the CPS for charging advice.

We do, it was about information while he was trade envoy, information he gave JE

In the list I quoted a few pages back about other senior figures who had been found guilty of the same thing, some of them did include charges of sexual misconduct. But in this case, I think he was trade envoy after the VG stuff (not sure on that), so I dont think sexual inappropriateness would be part of the misconduct offences.

If there is evidence that he used his status and public office to sexual abuse, thats another thing to add in of course to the misconduct charges (if they ever come)

He was trade envoy from 2001 to 2011. He told BBC Newsnight in 2019 that he last saw Epstein in New York in early December 2010 to tell the disgraced financier he was breaking off the friendship.

We now know that on Christmas Eve 2010, he emailed Epstein (who was newly released from prison) a confidential briefing on investment opportunities in the reconstruction of Helmand Province, Afghanistan, which was overseen at the time by British armed forces and funded by UK taxpayers’ money. In an email dated 9 February 2011, Andrew suggested Epstein might invest in a private equity firm he visited a week before.

Epstein had been in jail from 2008 to 2010 for solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution with a minor under the age of 18.

I never thought I would say this, but...I do think Andrew is being used to cover up for more prominent figures. He's not the only one and he's not the worst.

Trump, obviously. I think Charles should cancel his visit to the US. The special relationship is over.

Agreed. I am disgusted with the Irish government agreeing to the St Patrick’s day visit.

Sadly Virginia cannot give evidence against Andrew. Not that there would be a trial. I don’t know how anyone could defend him against this shit show.

Even if he is, he should still be investigated and tried if he has committed crimes. Just because other people may have done worse, doesn’t mean he should get away with his part in it.

I don't think he's deliberately being used but Trump et al in the US are certainly taking advantage of it. Who, in the UK, would be more prominent than AMW other than the King or PoW?

Yes, Trump seemed gleeful in his interview, despite expressing his so-called ‘sadness’ for the RF.

ThiagoJones · 20/02/2026 08:42

To be honest I’d have thought Trump was shitting himself. If Andrew can be taken down, so can he.

I doubt that, he thinks he’s President Teflon. He said he could shoot someone dead on Fifth Avenue and get away with it. He probably thinks AMW is a ‘loser’ for getting found out.

@SaltPepperandTomato
If the Wales and Sussex families all died.

It's pretty obvious the succession would bypass Andrew, even in the highly unlikely event that - at 66 years old - he was to out-live Prince William, Prince Harry and all five of their children.

LizzieW1969 · 20/02/2026 09:04

I suspect the government would get rid of him the way they got rid of Edward VIII, by using what they know about him to make him step aside for the next heir to the throne. (That was another one who should have faced justice for his crimes.)

But it would never even get that far, as, unlike with Edward VIII, the public know about Andrew’s crimes.

Obviously none of this would ever happen in reality, but he really must be removed from the line of succession.

I sincerely hope that he will end up in prison. But I'm not entirely sure how it would work. Presumably, it wouldn't be safe to just bang him up in an ordinary prison alongside other prisoners, but it wouldn't be justice if he was given his own wing with better facilities.

I don't really care it they take him down for misconduct in a public office rather than sex offences. The latter would be much harder to prove, while the former could still result in a hefty sentence.

I would like to believe that it could happen. And to some extent, I think the rest of the monarchy might need it to happen as they will all be tainted if he is allowed to escape justice.

Of course, he might choose to end things himself before getting to the point of imprisonment.

I expect we will see Mandelson arrested next, and rightly so. He and Andrew both deserve to go down.

What I want to know is when there is going to be some accountability for the perpetrators in the US.

I mean, they got Al Capone on tax evasion 🤷🏼‍♀️

Is it a criminal offence to have sex with trafficked women?

Yes, it is.

Is there evidence that he knew they were trafficked if do

Doesn't need to be according to the legislation.

Ok - how many people have been convicted with this? You have to prove the person accused knew the workers were trafficked-how on earth would you ever do that.

Merrycritictime · 20/02/2026 18:04

He wasn’t middle aged when he made use of the services of the young Virginia Giuffre, provided to him by his pal, the convicted paedophile. And G knows how many others. He’s also under (criminal) investigation for passing sensitive information to said pal, potentially compromising the security of the country ruled by his own sovereign mother, Queen Elizabeth II. ‘Middle aged git’ is a ludicrous approximation.

I couldn't care less about any of them. The French had the right idea 👍👍

The ones where he slept with girls who were underage and had been trafficked (underage in the US )

No. Seriously, I'd like you to tell me what sex offences he has committed.
Being a sleazy middle aged git isn't a criminal activity.

Hiya.

No, that doesn't need to be proven.

This doesn't apply to Andrew as the law changed after his association with Epstein. But as the link says, the law as it is now means that whether the person accused knew the workers were trafficked is "irrelevant".

So what do we think will happen to Andrew, could he actually go to prison?
PurpleLovecats · 20/02/2026 18:16

I expect he will “end his life” (ie go and live with Epstein wherever he is, do we really believe he is dead?!).

Rachand23 · 20/02/2026 18:26

Is there a prison big enough to take all his teddies?

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 20/02/2026 18:28

Incarcerated in a non-segregated wing in prison....

It is when you're a sleazy middle aged git who abused trafficked women and underage girls.

I agree that he's a sleazy middle aged git, but question the "underaged" girls part. In the UK underaged is under 16, can be up to 21 in the states. And it will be hard to prove a) that he did any trafficking himself or prove that he knew of it b) abusing is always hard to prove if the woman involved has even a slightly questionable sexual history,
