So what do we think will happen to Andrew, could he actually go to prison?

I just don’t believe it could happen. Also I’d like him to go to prison for the sex offences, that seems more important than his sharing confidential information problem.

It will be very interesting if it does go to trial. Would a jury trial even be possible? How would it be possible to find an unbiased jury?

I would love it if he could be put on trial, and convicted, obviously, as that’s what should happen. But I wouldn’t want him to be able to wriggle out of it on the basis of a fair trial not being possible.

PeachOctopus · 19/02/2026 15:31

He’s being tried for giving state secrets to Epstein which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
I think he may be thrown under the bus and the trafficking charges are harder to prove. A lot of the women were Russian and have signed NDA’s for past settlements.

Certainly possible, but not very likely in my view.

Who were the last 10 people to be convicted of the same offence (bear in mind he has not been charged yet) and what was the type of scenario and what was their sentence?

Be interesting to compare.

Ive answered my own question - AI tells me this

The following are 10 notable or significant figures (officials and public servants) prosecuted for this offence in recent years:

  • Nathan Gill (2025): The former leader of Reform UK in Wales and MEP was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison after admitting to taking bribes for pro-Russia interviews.
  • Peter Ball (2015): The former Bishop of Lewes was sentenced to 32 months for indecent assault and misconduct in public office after abusing his authority to manipulate young men.
  • Jeffrey Cook (2024): A Business Manager at the Ministry of Defence was sentenced to 30 months for receiving commission payments at the expense of the public purse.
  • Deniz Jaffer & Jamie Lewis (2021): These Metropolitan Police officers were sentenced to 2 years and 9 months each for taking and sharing photos of the bodies of murder victims Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry.
  • Matthew Longmate (2024): A former police officer whose initial suspended sentence was overturned by the Court of Appeal to 11 months of immediate imprisonment for sexual activity with a woman while on duty.
  • Julian Maynard (2022): A Greater Manchester Police officer sentenced to 8 months in prison for forming inappropriate relationships with two women who had reported crimes.

Nothing at all will happen to him. The whole thing is a charade to imply that nobody is above the law and that the Royal Family don't enable paedo traitors (when we all know that they do). King Charles, even though "deeply concerned", will continue to give him truck loads of cash and let him live at Sandringham.

This. Andrew is just a performative scapegoat and one of many MANY powerful men involved. He’s just the fall guy for everyone else that of course no action will be taken against. It’s bread and circuses anyway. He won’t be going to prison.

tobee · 19/02/2026 15:33

If think both are as important as each other; the sex stuff that he hasn’t been arrested for and the misbehaviour in public office.

I wish this morning’s events meant that this is the beginning of other people being arrested but, apart from maybe Mandelson, I think it’s unlikely sadly.

Sex abuse stuff is always very difficult to prove. Depressing.

Wonder if KC3 has ever pondered recently that he may have been better choosing one of his other names for regnal purposes! 😆

Bourdic · 19/02/2026 15:47

He won’t go to prison on the misconduct in public office alleged offences because if won’t come to trial. A team of very clever barristers will make sure there is no trial.

Benchdogs · 19/02/2026 15:48

They’re just trying to get the public to quiet down. Its meaningless and of course he won’t face justice for anything.

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/02/2026 15:50

BMW6 · 19/02/2026 15:03

No. Seriously, I'd like you to tell me what sex offences he has committed.

Being a sleazy middle aged git isn't a criminal activity.

And the Epstein stuff happened in the US so I don't think they can get him for that here. There has been talk about women coming into the country with him on private planes but I don't know if it can be proven to be trafficking. He could get a long sentence for misconduct in a public office.

It's not a competition. Abuse is abuse and all of it is abhorrent.

I agree. If you read VG's book you will see exactly how she ended up valuing herself so little she was being trafficked around. Having worked with many people in the sex 'industry' many are survivors of CSA. If you were not already damaged (or drugged up) it is very hard to either start or stay in that line of work.

Personally, I think it's performative theatre by the RF & AMW will not, in fact, be prosecuted.

I'd rather like him to get a fair trial, and for Peter Mandelson to be treated in exactly the same way. An awful lot of credence seems to be being given to the 'victims' who were 'trafficked' when Virginia Guiffre could just ring him from Thailand and say I'm not coming back and nothing happened to her. She recruited other girls for him, so why isn't she being condemned?

Nothing will happen to him, I think he will be released without charge and that the whole thing is theatre to show the country that "something is being done" and "nobody is above the law". Then it will be business as usual for the royals as throughout recent history they always find a way to crisis manage anything that has the potential to derail the gravy train. I was pleased when I heard that the Andrew forever known as Nonce has been arrested but I really think that will be as far as it will go. He will be released without charge and then clear off to the UAE. Would love to be proved wrong

What evidence is there of the 'sex stuff'? If we're locking people up for using prostitutes, then let's treat everyone the same. As for the trafficking, this devalues genuine sex trafficking. Remember the Russian woman negotiating her substantial fee? How many of the women trafficked to this country in small boats get the luxury of doing that or being paid £250k

For the avoidance of doubt, I know people who served alongside him, and he's not a very nice person. Again, if that's a crime, then we need more prisons.

Dollymylove · 19/02/2026 15:57

Have any underage girls come forward to say that Andrew had sex with them? He may be an utterly sleazeball but where is the evidence of underage girls?

The monarchy has survived by being ruthless. They have, finally, been ruthless with Andrew, making him an ordinary citizen so he can be prosecuted. The mood of the public is such that Andrew getting off scot free would be another nail in its coffin. The evidence against him is clear in the emails. He sent market-sensitive information that he only had because of his trade envoy position to Epstein. A lot more delving will be needed for a prosecution but the bones are there.

BeRoseViewer · 19/02/2026 15:59

it's rarely prosecuted and when it is, it's usually applied to prison officers and Police where there are identified harms to individuals or institutions.

Whether it results in prison or not..

Potential trials are lengthy and extremely costly.

And in all offences, whether it is in the public interest to prosecute or not is taken into account.

And 'public interest' doesn't mean would the public like this person to be in prison?

HelpMeGetThrough · 19/02/2026 15:59

He’ll be bailed today “pending further enquiries”, be home in time for a cup of tea and some birthday cake.

It will then go very quiet and that’ll be it.
