Lack of intimacy and stomach problems.

tillylula · 17/02/2026 13:54

My husband said to me the other day he keeps seeing posts on social media about how a lack of intimacy can cause stomach problems for men (which he has been getting). He asked if i had been getting them too, or anything along the lines of how important intimacy is. I know it is.

I gave birth to our 4th child just over 3 weeks ago. Towards the end of the pregnancy i was having a lot of pain, braxton hicks and i also had thrush all the way through the pregnancy. We did have sex throughout but the last month i dont think we did anything because i was just too uncomfortable. I did him a few times before baby arrived but since his arrival ive been more focused on surviving the newborn days with a 6, 4 & 2 year old also.

Is there any truth behind the claims or is he pulling my leg?

If my husband said this I would 1) be concerned his SM algorithm was feeding him this - what other misogynistic bullshit is he engaging with?

  1. ask if he was serious, or whether it was a very poor taste “joke”

  2. if he seemed serious I would tear him a new one, for being thick as fuck / vile and misogynistic and I would expect sincere high level apology afterwards

disappearingfish · 17/02/2026 16:13

I’d suggest that he makes a GP appointment asap. Go with him. Take as many children with you as you can manage. Encourage him to show the articles to the GP. Settle back with some popcorn.

What a dickhead.

WeepingAngelInTheTardis · 17/02/2026 16:14

You gave birth THREE WEEKS AGO? And he’s bitching about not having any sex? Tell him he’s a disgusting pig.

neverbeenskiing · 17/02/2026 16:16

he keeps seeing posts on social media about how a lack of intimacy can cause stomach problems for men

There are two possibilities here.

  1. He's made up some absolute bollocks to guilt you into having sex with him 3 weeks post partum because he's manipulative and selfish
  2. He really has seen something like this on social media and he believes it because he's gullible and a bit thick

Either way he needs to speak to a GP about his stomach issues rather than taking medical advice from the Manosphere.

TalulahJP · 17/02/2026 16:18

too much intimacy caused you to have nine months of (growing) stomach problems till a baby appeared lol. 😜

hes probably googling things to do with lack of intimacy but seeing as how youve just pushed a human out of your body he shouldn’t even be thinking that.

why do men thibk they need to be fucking all the time. pathetic. what’s wrong with them that they can just enjoy life without having to get their tiny tadger out.

BauhausOfEliott · 17/02/2026 16:18

He may well have seen some bullshit online, but he's incredibly thick if he believes it to be true. Even if there was any connection between his digestive system and his balls, his stomach wouldn't know the difference between sex and a wank, so all he'd need to do to solve his dodgy stomach would be the occasional wank. If his claim that a lack of shagging affected the stomach was true, boys would be stricken with IBS from the age of about 12 onwards and most men would be shitting through the eye of a needle for extended periods at various times of their lives. It's not like all single men everywhere have constantly upset guts, is it?

Was he actually being serious? Because it sounds to me like the sort of thing someone might say as a joke, not because they actually believed it, and not because they genuinely expected their wife to up for having sex three weeks after having a baby.

Luckyingame · 17/02/2026 16:21

Stomach problems? For men due to lack of sex?
😂😂😂
Now if I punched his stomach really hard, that might cause some problems, but I never heard such a ball of shite before.

L4ura171986 · 17/02/2026 16:25

He sounds absolutely vile. Yuck. He is full
of crap. Huge red flags here. Can you get him to show you these very scientific articles? Peer reviewed and supported by a lots of doctors? I’m really sorry you’re with such a selfish manipulative “man”

TheFormidableMrsC · 17/02/2026 16:29

I’m sorry you’ve had children with such a hideous creature.

allthingsinmoderation · 17/02/2026 16:31

He is gaslighting you and manipulating you when you are vulnerable and recovering from birth.
Please link the article that says "lack of intimacy" causes stomach problems?
How much lack of intimacy and what stomach problems ?
He needs to see a Dr for a medical opinion about his "stomach problems" and i can tell you the cause wont be lack of sex......

DuchessofStaffordshire · 17/02/2026 16:35

I think I've heard it all now. It's not even remotely convincing.

Yes i think he was being serious, i asked him the next day and he said yes. I thought it must be absolute bollocks but wanted to get the general consensus of what others thought

Screamingabdabz · 17/02/2026 16:40

Tell him no intimacy until he gets the snip. You’ve done your bit, he needs to step up now. And don’t fall for any of his internet research excuses as to why he shouldn’t. You’ve both got your hands full with 4 young children now and his sex pest attitude needs to jog on.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 17/02/2026 16:41

How absolutely revolting 🤢 and inconsiderate!
Has he always been like this?
He’d be my ex if he said that to me!

Pasithean · 17/02/2026 16:41

As the result of a botch operation I have not been able to have full sex for nearly 15 years no upset tummies here. Hubby is fine, understanding and is now my carer.

Meteorite87 · 17/02/2026 16:42

RocketPanda · 17/02/2026 14:10

His stomach problems are caused by him being an abusive dickhead trying to force you to have sex.

Probably given himself indigestion trying come up with some "plausible" excuse to pressure you @tillylula

You deserve so much better.

parthyphibday · 17/02/2026 16:43

Sounds like absolute bollocks. However even if it WERE true (and it's not)...

You have just been creating a baby inside you for 9 months, then you got that baby out of your body via whichever traumatic means did the trick, and now you are keeping the baby alive using your body.

WHY would you give a flying fuck about him having a few 'stomach problems'?

tillylula · 17/02/2026 16:48

He wont get the snip.

Im really overwhelmed with the responses. Thank you everyone. I thought it was abit unfair on him to have to sort himself out for so long, im abit of a mug arent i?! 😆

parthyphibday · 17/02/2026 16:49

Gawd - I would love to have seen how the pathetic excuse of a man raised this with you.

'You see darling...bit awks...I didn't want to have to bring it up like this, but as you are dragging things out...you're mildly irritating my gastrointestinal lining by refusing to accommodate my penis inside of your body, whilst your own insides are still feeling like they inside-out after creating my 4th offspring'

Sorry OP - he's rancid.

Smallorveryfaraway · 17/02/2026 16:49

He needs to stay off social media if he can't use his own common sense to know something like that isn't true.

NerdyBird · 17/02/2026 16:55

He must be hoping that post-partum exhaustion has befuddled you enough to believe this. It really is the world’s most obvious bullshit. I really really hope he has some proper redeeming features!

Tacohill · 17/02/2026 17:05

Sex does have amazing health benefits and so the article would have likely been based upon scientific facts - but it’s literally been a few weeks!!

And it’s actually the orgasm that carry the most health benefits, which he can do by himself.

It’s actually really concerning that you are this gullible.
Do you think teens have health issues because they don’t regularly have sex?
What about single people, those who are asexual or have intimacy issues?

I dread to think what else he manipulates you into doing if you are so gullible and naive.

outerspacepotato · 17/02/2026 17:06

I thought it was abit unfair on him to have to sort himself out for so long, im abit of a mug arent i?!

It's not funny at all. Your husband trying to coerce you into sex using medical misinformation could cost you your fertility, your health, even your life.

What would happen to your baby if you had to go into the hospital to get treated for sepsis?

borntooobewild · 17/02/2026 17:11

What have I just read?! Your husband is atrocious for even thinking that it was OK to say that load of bollocks and also not very intelligent if he genuinely believes what he has read!

PolkaDotPorridge · 17/02/2026 17:15

You had a baby THREE WEEKS AGO , have three other little ones and he’s talking about lack of sex. I would never sleep with him again because the marriage would be over for me. He’s a sex pest. I’m so sorry Op.
