Lack of intimacy and stomach problems.

My husband said to me the other day he keeps seeing posts on social media about how a lack of intimacy can cause stomach problems for men (which he has been getting). He asked if i had been getting them too, or anything along the lines of how important intimacy is. I know it is.

I gave birth to our 4th child just over 3 weeks ago. Towards the end of the pregnancy i was having a lot of pain, braxton hicks and i also had thrush all the way through the pregnancy. We did have sex throughout but the last month i dont think we did anything because i was just too uncomfortable. I did him a few times before baby arrived but since his arrival ive been more focused on surviving the newborn days with a 6, 4 & 2 year old also.

Is there any truth behind the claims or is he pulling my leg?

When I was having stomach problems my first step was to go the GP not suggest to my husband that we should be having more sex.

roseymoira · 17/02/2026 14:42

A vasectomy is a much less invasive procedure than having your tubes tied, your body has been through enough

Please post the links to these articles I’d love to read them 🤣

FatCatPyjamas · 17/02/2026 14:42

Is he a bit dim, OP? I'm trying to be generous here and assume that he's genuinely been taken in by some bollocks on insta, rather than being a manipulative dickhead.

Happyjoe · 17/02/2026 14:44

He's manipulative.
He's pressuring you, even without a new born this isn't ok.
Tell him to go get a sock.

Bloomin heck, not much surprises me anymore but this one has.

MiniCoopers · 17/02/2026 14:44

Please don’t fall for this nonsense, of course he’s not read an article on stomach issues due to lack of sex.

Superfoodie123 · 17/02/2026 14:44

Wow I'd fall out of love instantly after this alone

JHound · 17/02/2026 14:46

He's full of sh*t.

HomeTheatreSystem · 17/02/2026 14:47

Tell him you read an article which said that pushing a watermelon into a man's anus has been shown to cure their stomach problems in 98.2% of cases.

Foundress · 17/02/2026 14:50

I would be booking him in for an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy preferably without any anaesthetic.

duckfordinner · 17/02/2026 14:50

You are being unreasonable that you having children with a man like him. I’m sure this isn’t a first red flag.

HoppingPavlova · 17/02/2026 14:51

And what medical journal was that amazing fact in? None. Because it’s not true. Your DH is revolting.

Bikergran · 17/02/2026 14:52

Yeah, stomach problems like when you punch him in the gut for being such a dickhead.

Lol do all single people have stomach issues then? Cos you often wouldn't have sex for weeks. Hell, me and my fiance often go 2 weeks and we have no kids, life is busy. Neither of us have problems as a result.

wishingonastar101 · 17/02/2026 15:10

Shit men can cause women to have clampy fanny syndrome.

tillylula · 17/02/2026 15:11

I would love to see scientific papers on this too!

Parsleyforme · 17/02/2026 15:29

Tell him he has two hands and he’s welcome to be intimate with them!

Member984815 · 17/02/2026 15:33

Strong smell of bullshit off this , did he show you these articles? 3 weeks post partum he'd be told to take care of himself and grow up

He's full of shit.

Tell that fucking asshole you have a gaping wound in your uterus that needs to heal. Having sex before that happens can cause a wound infection that will put you out of commission or worse and he doesn't give a shit about you if he's trying to have sex before you're completely ready and healed.

Motherfucker. Talk to the fucking hand.

More calmly, it's unfortunately pretty common for men to pressure their postpartum spouses to have sex before they've healed and yours is one of those assholes.

If he's getting his medical info from FB or Instagram, he's dangerous in his ignorance.

Member984815 · 17/02/2026 15:52

Can I ask what was he like after the other babies were born ?

catipuss · 17/02/2026 15:55

Tell him to talk to the doctor about his stomach pains.

Does this article mean that all single men walk around with chronic stomach pain? I think not! Just another misogynistic conspiracy theory.

FourSevenTwo · 17/02/2026 15:57

I kind of believe that he might have seen posts like that.
It is bullshit, but it will be a popular bullshit with lots of interactions and some healthy outrage in the mix for more impressions.

And, kick him for misusing the word intimacy in this context - now you deserve all the cuddles you might wish without him hinting for sex.

He didnt pressure me atall or expect it, which is what he said after he mentioned the very scientific social media posts... "i just wonder if thats what is causing it" but he also thinks, dairy, coffee, eating, not eating, amongst other things causes it too... which is much more likely.

Id actually booked to get my tubes tied a week before i found out i was pregnant.

He’s being disgusting! Ignore him.

TakeALookAtTheseSwatches · 17/02/2026 16:05

I would have laughed in his face so much 😂

And told him to have a wank and stop being so ridiculous.
