I actually am interested to see if Reform will be a shit show and if they are a shit show whether Reform voters will take accountability.

Yes, and no in that order 😂

Kemi's looks have absolutely nothing to do with her job.

And unless she becomes a model, that's the way it should stay.

I agree. But it wasn't me who brought her looks up. It was a pp.

PandoraSocks · 17/02/2026 12:24

DiySteve · 17/02/2026 12:21

100%.

Commenting on a person’s looks - particularly in the context of their role, is juvenile and unhelpful.

Oh my lord. Your hypocrisy is staggering!

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 17/02/2026 12:24

It really doesn't matter what any of the politicians look like. I think we all know that.

RichardOnslowRoper · 17/02/2026 12:25

I just want to know which other countries have sexy right wing twats? Do you mean Meloni?

😄Hating Farage is now the cool thing to do.

What frightens me more is a coalition of Labour, the SNP and the greens. That will be the end of Britain. It’s already too late to save our identity, of course. As two-tier Keir put it, this is now “an island of strangers.” Immigration has happened on such a scale that it has destroyed any sense of shared culture or shared history. I don’t know how people have got the nerve to call Farage a fascist. The Left have imposed this change on us. That is fascism.

But it’s also a question of space. My home town (Colchester) is now so crowded I could scream. The roads are clogged with traffic, and the hospital is at breaking point. My local woods have been hacked down and replaced with two new housing estates, and we’re going to have 400 new homes built on the fields in the centre of the village. That’s on top of the 300 new homes already jammed onto some fields at the other end of the village. But no matter how many of these vile rabbit hutches we squeeze together, we always need more, more, more. From the languages spoken, I’d say at least half the people on those new estates were not born in the UK.

"Immigration has happened on such a scale that it has destroyed any sense of shared culture or shared history."
Immigration rose massively under the Tories and we only started seeing the 'boats' post Brexit. Labour have actually TIGHTENED immigration rules (Immigration White Paper) and have made considerable strides into the huge backlog of asylum applications left by the Tories.

Do you really think Reform, who are all for deregulation and capitalism, would protect your green spaces? Or do you think they would be on the side of the free market and the developers making money and building houses wherever is most profitable? Conservative governments made changes to Planning rules which mean that green belt can be prioritised over brownfield sites, even when locals and councils have rejected planning previously. These are not labour, or left wing policies or changes. These houses weren't built on your green belt due to lefties building houses for foreigners.

Yes but you still chose to give your opinion on her looks when they matter not a jot in her job.

DiySteve · 17/02/2026 12:13

Continuing the impartiality theme, how’s it going with this Labour government.

Fine, I’ve worked under both a conservative and labour government and little difference day to day. One good thing is better control on spending under this government, T&S etc, cutting down on people spending. Trying to reduce headcount but by reducing the nice to have currently. That’s a good thing in my opinion but still an awful lot that could be done in that space.

HangingOutAtTheRialto · 17/02/2026 12:38

And as for "two tier Kier", Farage's own nephew did quite well out of it didn't he?

https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/who-is-nigel-farages-nephew-upskirting-where-388926/

A little fine for a sexual offence with a potential prison sentence. Didn't hear Reformers complaining about any injustices there.

(this was further to @Dappy777's post)

😲 if that had been any other politician's nephew there would have been outrage.

Pinnacles · 17/02/2026 13:02

Trump is a sexy rightwing twat now? 😳

Barnestine · 17/02/2026 13:03

Don’t worry - Reform will have autodigested by the time there’s a GE.

frazzled1 · 17/02/2026 13:07

But all jurisdictions require cumbersome visa applications and criteria. We had 27 other countries on our doorstep to move to with zero hassle.

Quite.

I really worry about Vladimir Putin's influence with Farage (and others).

Recommend reading Luke Harding’s Shadow State: Murder, Mayhem, and Russia’s Remaking of the West on Russia’s influence operations in Western democracies and the outcomes of their efforts, including Brexit. There’s an anecdote about Alexander Yakovenko (Russia’s UK ambassador, 2011-19) who, on his return to Moscow post Brexit in 2019, was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky by Putin (a major Russian state honour), and reportedly told a fellow diplomat:
“We have crushed the British to the ground. They are on their knees, and they will not rise for a very long time.”

Also the influence of the US evangelical right. The fairly recent (Nov 24 press conference) talk of restricting abortion linked to the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a U.S.-based Christian legal advocacy group that campaiged for overturning Roe v. Wade before extending its advocacy internationally. How did he manage 30 odd years in politics without commenting on this issue, are they now funding him?

What annoys me is Farage confirmed (“Anger Management” podcast) that his children with his second wife (German) hold British and German passports. His children with his first wife (Irish) have automatic Irish citizenship through her. The thought of his children being eligible for the EU passports our kids cannot now take advantage of makes me fume…. (Obviously they’re their own people and can do what they want…).

But agree with PP he wouldn’t want to put in the work of the daily grind of actually running the country, as shown by his (lack of) efforts for Clacton.

What? What possible definition of fascism could apply to the three parties you've mentioned? I say this as someone with a degree in political science - nothing that characterises fascism applies to any of those parties. You're free to criticise their policies on immigration or house-building without resorting to completely nonsensical definitions...

I know you won't like the term but this entire diatribe is racist as fuck.

Clearinguptheclutter · 17/02/2026 13:10

The only good thing about him being pm is that people will realise very quickly what a stupid thing it was to vote for him

I hope Labour raises its game so it doesn’t happen but I’m not hugely optimistic

Fizbosshoes · 17/02/2026 13:14

YANBU for finding him unbearable
YABVVVU for insinuating it would be somehow tolerable if he was better looking.

ConstanzeMozart · 17/02/2026 13:14

Tickingcrocodile · 17/02/2026 11:01

He doesn't want to be PM - too much work. Even as an MP he barely turns up to his constituency or participates in anything in the house of commons. His only interest is appearing in the media with the occasional antagonistic speech and earning pots of money through his endless sideline jobs. He is admittedly good at being the face of Reform and capturing a soundbite at key moments but he isn't going to be up for the hard slog of being the leader of government. If there is the slightest chance of Reform actually winning the next election, he'll stand down.

I agree he can't be arsed and will stand down, but it leaves the door open for a horror from the Tory party like Braverman or Zahawi.

leaflikebrew · 17/02/2026 13:21

EveryKneeShallBow · 17/02/2026 10:54

I’m totally with you on not wanting him as PM, but YABU with the personal insults. Imagine if you replaced the name with eg, Shabana Mahmood or Angela Rayner.

True - but there is definitely a toadish element to him which is hard to ignore.

The man is a walking contradiction

Hates the 'elites', yet was privately educated, worked in commodities trading prior to politics and is one of the highest earners in politics with his private interests.

Doesn't agree with working from home, yet employed his own wife to WFH and WFH himself doing Cameos and other jobs.

Thinks the EU is a terrible thing, but was an MEP and continues to take a pension from that.

Is anti-Europe, yet has an Irish and German wife/ex.

Is anti children speaking other languages, yet his own children speak German.

Is the voice of farmers, yet was the engineer of Brexit which screwed British farming with the loss of EU subsidies.

It's a (deeply unfunny) joke.

Agrumpyknitter · 17/02/2026 13:33

I agree OP. I think if someone originally supported Reform, can they now still support it with the amount of ex-Tories that Reform have.

The same Tories who wrecked the country. Brexit made this country poorer.

Reform will get rid of our working rights when we leave the EHCR. It will be a disaster.

The disinformation machine has already started on that one, @Agrumpyknitter. They're tying themselves in knots to explain how Reform have no choice but to become a nursing home for washed up Tories who did the things they claim to be so cross about. It's a sight to behold.

Lunalara · 17/02/2026 13:50

With Trump spectacularly ruining the US and the poorly run Reform councils, I do not think they will win the next election. For now, it looks as though Green will get in.

This thread is about Farage. There are plenty of threads to discuss Labour. Or you can start a new one.
