Go to Saudi Arabia and try and live your life exactly as you do here. You can’t. Because if their cultures and traditions. Because yours are different. That’s our culture and tradition. Ffs. So dumb saying we have none.

Thats a strange example because as I understand it in Saudi they dont have a democracy like ours?

Not resent, no. I’m a second language (somewhat halting) speaker myself. It’s the attitude some have that they don’t need to try which irritates. My aim was that Welsh speakers wouldn’t have to speak English around me even if I sometimes had to reply in English or with English words. And I ensured my DD was bilingual by using Welsh medium education at primary and then bilingual thereafter. Many English incomers just carry on oblivious or even complain about the preponderance of Welsh in Welsh speaking areas. We aren’t very good at accepting dual language culture in the U.K. Parts of Europe are much better.
It’s not a race/colour issue though. Many Welsh speaking areas are less multicultural as they tend to being rural but a black Welsh friend of mine is a fluent speaker and her mixed race chikdren are first language (one appears 9n Welsh tv as a presenter). I taught plenty of Muslim children in that area who were able to speak English at native level and also learn Welsh. Many of them spoke 4 or 5 languages.

So you do feel migrants should speak English

The census data says otherwise.

You are talking nonsense. How is 81% "becoming a minority"?

I understand some Muslim leaders are instructing their flock how to vote. We haven't really had a culture of voting on religious grounds so it will be interesting to see who gets elected in certain areas at the next election. They will be elected as law makers so that will potentially affect policy if the upward trajectory continues. Thats my main concern. I hope it doesn't happen.

Understand from what source?
Plus we have secret ballots so there’s no way of knowing if people follow ‘instructions’.

So it would be totally fine if Nigerians became a minority in their own country? Or Somalian? Or Japanes? Or Colombians? Or Napali? Or any other country? There would definitely be something wrong with that picture?
You do realise the white people are already a global minority at only around 15% why would anyone find it ok to reduce that even further, are white people so hated globally that they must dwindle away to nothing?

Why are you so obsessed with skin colour? I'm white. I'm also not British. I'm different from very many other white people of different nationalities. I'm Dutch, and I am culturally very like Dutch people of all colours. Once again, the equation of culture with skin colour is ridiculous. You might as well claim that there is such a thing as 'black culture' - people from various African and Caribbean countries would argue that they have their own cultural distinctiveness which is not linked to skin colour.

There is literally a thing called The Muslim Vote. Taken from the website: "For the first time, the Muslim community has united and is acting as one at the ballot box, and we've come well-prepared."

What website?

I think that equating 'English' to 'White' is well dodgy.

Would all those people doing this on this thread care to explain why they think you can't be English if you aren't white?

Im a child of an immigrant but raised here. I would always call myself British as my nationality, and half English half X as my ethnicity. I would hate either side to be ignored. Its also the first time in my life Ive ever had to think about it.

I've heard of the organisation. That doesn't mean they materially alter the way Muslim people vote. You're assuming that Muslims are a monolithic bloc of people who all vote, think and believe the same way. That is manifestly incorrect. I wasn't talking about the organisation, I was talking about people.

I'm not really interested in arguing about that, Muslims voting collectively as a bloc most definitely goes on.

Thats true. Although postal votes allow for pressure from other people.

We shall see in 2029 as to whether there is an increase in sectarian politics by looking at the number of Gaza Independents etc. Its already started with them.

Oh I see. Is religion being kept out of politics (eg no blasphemy laws) part of our culture? Yes. And hard fought over the centuries.

Of course. All migrants intending to settle permanently in another country should learn the language of that country. I'm sure Richard Tice and Isabel Oakeshott are really working hard on their Arabic, and of course all those Brits who settled in Spain and France are completely fluent. Sauce, goose.

JustSomeWaferThinHam · 15/02/2026 12:45

If you listen to Muslims, that’s exactly what they are doing.

Anas Sarwar recently gave a speech to Pakistani Muslim leaders (that was leaked) promising them that they have now gone past being ‘new Scots’ , they are now The Scots (despite many being no more than first generation of Pakistani origin) and that they will have positions at the very top of government to influence law and justice. Islam has a very strong element of law and justice in its framework and they have very specific principles. Many of those are not compatible with Western culture - extreme homophobia, subjugation of girls, early marriage, first cousin marriage etc.

The group Sarwar was addressing wish to become lawmakers in order to change the laws to fit their culture and requirements.

I haven’t seeen/heard the speech but if they live in Scotland and want to be Scottishthen they are, in fact, Scots. I’m not sure it’s clear that Muslims vote to increase Muslim influence in politics in a religious sense though. Certainly the ones I know don’t.

74.4% as of the last census figures, it was 95% in 1991. The Boris Wave has happened since the last census so the number will definitely have decreased further since then. Thats a rapid decline.

There are predictions of 30+ “Muslim issue” MPs in the next parliament. A few Labour MPs only held onto their seats by a handful of votes.

I saw today talk of a Labour/Green/Muslim Vote coalition. Goodness knows what this would look like.

I don’t think I (or anyone else on the thread) have said otherwise. It’s better for their own well-being apart from anything else. I’ve known a lot of immigrants over the years as a teacher and I haven’t encountered any who didn’t want to speak the local language(s). They have ensured their children did whilst doing their best themselves - just as I did when I moved back to Wales.

I didn’t know what ‘it’ was until another poster replied to you and made it clearer. Anyway, a website isn’t a population as has been pointed out to you.
