Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

Not too my knowledge are they speeding ip
weight loss, which is why people are saying you have work to do as well. Ie adopting a healthy diet.

You clearly are dieting incorrectly, next to no calories isn’t going to speed up weight loss, nor pure protein!

A calorie deficit with a balanced healthy diet is what’s needed.

Yeah in the past I have had issues with food. I’m in a good place now. I am now eating healthily, I’ve worked out my TDEE, try hard to hit my protein goals and exercising a few times a week and the weight is coming off slowly. But it’s not coming off at the rates I’m seeing with my friends who, by the way, aren’t working hard at all (I know they should be at the gym etc but they aren’t - they just don’t eat much). If they stop it’ll go back on but they don’t care about that because they don’t plan to stop 🤷🏻‍♀️

No judgement or jealousy here, I could do WLI if I wanted to, it’s just what I’m seeing.

no one “should” be at the gym, it’s a personal choice.

They may be walking, doing home exercising etc. you honestly don’t know their lifestyle.

theyre surely doing more than just switching off hunger though, they seem to speed up the weight loss process too?

Everyone I know on them has dropped weight incredibly quickly. When I’ve lost weight on diet and exercise (and I mean I’ve been through diets where I have eaten absolutely next to nothing, pure protein, etc), it is a much, much slower process.

They do a lot more than suppress hunger, but no I don’t think they speed it up. What they do is allow consistent weight loss over a longer period.

so with onky dieting you tend to lose one week, nothing the week after, lose again, then maybe gain back , then lose, on wli it enables you to consistently lose each week, which very quickly adds up.

i wish it did speed it up. Ive lost at a rate of 1lb a week….consistently, which i am pleased with

Yes, I think that they allow more consistent weightloss .
Many people go on a diet and may last a few weeks or months before they give up .
However, WLI allow weightloss over a longer period which adds up .

What I don't get about these 'jabs', is what is the point of them if they don't do anything but suppress appetite. You can get diet pills that do that. So why go to the effort of sticking needles in yourself when can just swallow a tablet? Much easier and much, much, much cheaper, yeah?

I was considering them but if there is zero benefit to them than diet pills, why bother. For the price they cost and the way people go on about them, you'd think they sculpt your body for you or something. All they do is suppress appetite? So no new idea then. What a disappointment. Did people not know you can get appetite suppressants "diet pills" at the pharmacy? And in bottles that last?

AnnieLummox · 16/02/2026 15:29

I can honestly say I’ve never found a diet pill that works. Mounjaro does.

What pills exactly are you referring to that do the same as these meds please. I know of none, unless you are talking about speed or something? And feel people should take class a’s?

Giwingpat · 16/02/2026 16:25

@callmeLoretta1 they do a lot more than suppress appetite, they alter the dopamine pathway, so that food no longer gives you a hit, likewise alcohol, they alter the way the body deals with glucose and regulate metabolism it's way more than appetite suppression, which is why I lost 2 stones in 2 months after a lifetime of diets, and now continue to be a stable weight on a small dose after losing further three and a half.

No that’s not what that means, I’d recommend spending some time googling and reading up if you don’t understand.

They aren't the same as 'diet pills' at all (whatever they are)
if they didn't work any better than pills that are already available why would so many millions of people be spending ££ on them and successfully losing weight?

ShawnaMacallister · 16/02/2026 16:54

FaintingGoats · 16/02/2026 16:30

They don't make you lose weight any quicker than you would in the same calorie deficit without the medication, but they make the calorie deficit possible.

I don’t think anyone knew you could get diet pills that suppress rhe appetite ar the pharmacy, well not one that works anyway, so we are all agog at what this is.

I remember back in the nineties dr dodgy would prescribe speed basically 😂, not heard of anyone actually taking it for years though. Not as a diet pill anyway.

I’ve not tried them myself but I understand that as well as suppressing appetite they take away the mental food noise. So, for example, a lot of people might feel full up after a large meal but the ‘food noise’ aspect makes them anticipate deserts and cheese board. I understand that WLI take that away so once satisfied you just don’t think about food.

callmeLoretta1 · 16/02/2026 18:57

Xenical was an infamous one. Still around. Though that required a doctor's prescription.

Medislim was another, but bought over the counter in the diet protein shakes area.

Sorry maybe we didn’t ask correctly, as I’m unsure why you have responded with a protein powder and xenical , which is orlistat or allie, which prevents fat absorption, not reduce appetite, unless the fact you shit your self on them makes you lose your appetite, and clearly not a diet pill that suppresses your appetite,

so I think we are just surprised as you said why inject yourself, just take diet pills from the pharmacy, no one is aware of any, so what pills are these?

Giwingpat · 16/02/2026 19:08

@callmeLoretta1 orlistat/xenical doesn't suppress appetite though, it works doesn't work by inhibiting fat digestion, now that DOES have crap side effects.

Yes and a protein shake is hardly a diet pill that suppresses appetite either,
