Dd’s friends mum always saying she doesn’t like what Dd makes

A few times now, Dd (7) has made her best friend at school little things-boxes with hearts in or card’s with glitter etc.
Dd has mentioned that each time she gives her best friend something she’s made, her friend says that she loves it but her mum said she doesn’t like it. This has happened a few times, seems odd?

Maybe the mother belittles the daughter at home, or is emotionally distant, or weirdly jealous of her friendships, or has a controlling partner who wants a 'tidy' house. The daughter might not be stirring. She might be echoing invalidation.

Is there any reason like ethnicity or religion or class that might make OP 'different' from the other parents, I wonder?

It's a bit odd but something you have to let go as you don't know if the mother definitely said it or the context she said it in, the child could be making it up or misinterpreting it.

Tho' most young kids love glitter, it is very bad for the environment - doesn't break down and is bad for wildlife whether on land or in ocean.
This was ""a thing" a few years ago and most stockists seemed then to give up on it. If you think about it, you don't see it around much any more.
Possibly, the mum really doesn't like glitter for those reasons and, if that's the case, she has a point.

Maybe she’s trying to give them to her mum and the mum is saying, ‘thanks, but it’s not really my thing, your friend made it for you, you keep it’.

^ This or my 6yo sometimes asks me if I like her drawing or the one her friend made for her so of course I say friends drawing is good but I like yours the best - so could be a misunderstanding like that?
Honestly the rate she makes things is overwhelming and then to come home with them from several friends 🙈

When I was a kid we couldn't have glitter in the house as it made our animals sick. Cat, dog, budgie etc . For whatever reason they don't want glitter in the house, respect that. If your daughter really wants to send a gift maybe suggest birthdays only but no glitter.

She put glitter on one card-stuck on with glue, appreciate this could be annoying, but to say she doesn’t like it…seems mean

Yep she sounds v mean! If be delighted that my DD had such a lovely friend that likes to gift her little homemade things like this. I'm sorry op xx
