a mentally ill MAN killed a lot of people. Him being transgender is important to know. So is the fact he was male.

Because men commit more than 90% of all murders and pretending that a woman was responsible for shooting dead 6 children and 2 adults and injuring many others is factually incorrect, dishonest and misrepresents women.

We have yet to learn the motivation for these murders but there is a possibility that it was driven in part by the killer's rage at having been trans-ed as a child.

I’m unfortunate enough to know two people who have been murdered. One as a victim of domestic violence and one in a terrorist attack.
It was very important to me that the identity of the perpetrators were accurately identified and recorded.

As a result of this thread I’ve reflected on how I would feel if this had been misrepresented and I actually feel very upset at the thought.

It matters that a man committed the crime rather than a woman as reported by many news outlets. Women very very rarely commit murder and are even less likely to carry out a mass shooting.

It also matters if his gender identity played a role in the shooting.
The children he killed and injured were the same age he was when he began to identify as the opposite sex.
He also killed his mother who may have trans-ed him given that his father had little access to him for the first ten years of his life as his mother was moving around the length and breadth of Canada to prevent his father having any involvement in his life.
He began the rampage by killing her...
He also killed one step-sibling who was 11...

Although I didnt get the impression from his previous posts that he was angry or upset at his trans identity, I suspect he drove it and she either supported it willingly or went along with it out of fear given the climate.

I think its important to focus on the face he presented as female, because we what know so far about ROGD is that its born out of comorbid emotional issues/MH issues, previous trauma which in men leads to those issues being pushed outwards, so anger, confusion, hostility are centred on peers, family, society etc. Often leading to violence.

But in the climate he grew up in, validation of gender identity is immediately affirmed and rather than look at those other possible reasons for such a mixed up and confused sense of self, these were ignored.

I'll leave the soul-searching to the adults who trans-ed children or cheered them on to having irreversible procedures while telling them big fat lies that can only end in pain.

If they had reported the murderer as a man I can guarantee the victims would have been front and centre.

Same. And I was pleased to hear the reporting on the later news explain that they were born male. The clarity around the terms since the high court ruling really is noticeable and a welcome relief.

The problem is this relentless message that acknowledging biological reality = hate, is probably a driver for further anguish in trans people and makes tragedies like this more likely.
