I might take dd to the cinema to see and then to Nando’s and to a bakery for a cupcake. Will need to find a flower shop to buy her one red rose

I hate that it’s on a Saturday, I really don’t wanna see young teens out on dates while I’m chronically single 😂

will you do anything? No judgement if not, it’s just me and dd so I like to do this stuff

plus, when someone’s son decides to take her out when she’s older, she won’t be thrilled by literally the bare minimum!!

edit to see either Gaby’s dolls house, zootropolis 2 or The Goat (kids cartoon) - not sure which 🤷‍♀️

Nothing. Why would I? As an aside me and DH don't do anything either but I am at least in a romantic relationship with him. Is this some new money spinner? I can just imagine their faces if I hot them a card😆 they would be seriously weirded out ( and rightly so).

MTOandMe · 11/02/2026 20:18

Oh god the fun sponges are out in force. Sounds a lovely day OP. I won’t be doing anything on Valentine’s Day because personally I think it’s a bit naff and my son is going skiing with school for the week! Enjoy your lovely harmless day!

ACommonTreasuryForAll · 11/02/2026 20:18

We're going out for a family meal to detract from the fact that DP and I won't be 'doing' Valentine's Day as a couple.

CinnamonBuns67 · 11/02/2026 20:19

We don't have anyone to care for DD whilst we celebrate so we celebrate with DD, she gets a card, some flowers and some chocolates and we get a takeaway in the evening. She loves it.

nam3c4ang3 · 11/02/2026 20:19

What when was this a child thing?!

ShetlandishMum · 11/02/2026 20:20

For the kids? I am doing absolutely nothing for them at Valentines.

We do Famentines-family valentines. We’ll do some games and get a take out-just an excuse for family time really x

I’ve definitely seen men doing this with their daughters! It’s lovely, shows them how to be treated in future, imo

Totally agree and so does my husband!

DancingOctopus · 11/02/2026 20:21

Nothing.
I saw a card in my local supermarket that said " To my Mummy on Valentine's Day".
Who is going to send that? Oedipus?

nhgto · 11/02/2026 20:22

My son is one and I’ve got him a card and teddy

Aw OP, some people on here are being unecessary.
My little boy is only six months so we won’t do much- did take him to Baby Sensory and it was Valentines themed which was adorable!
When he’s a bit older I’d love to do some valentines baking or crafts with him. It’s just nice to mix things up a bit and have a bit of a theme I think. Your day with your daughter sounds lovely!

Thank you 🥰

I think it’s lovely, just to celebrate love!

i’m actually surprised by the poll tbh 😂

I always get my kids a little box of chocolates. That's what my parents did for me.

I love the "is this a new thing" posts. I have been on this site since at least 2013 and this thread comes up every single year. Just like every summer when people complain about barbecue smells and every Halloween when people complain about trick-or-treating.

Or every month when people complain about the existence of dogs! 🙄🙄🙄

What when was this a child thing?!

I’m 36 now and my parents always did valentines baking with us and got us some sweets/chocolate on Valentine’s Day. So I guess it’s been a “child thing” for as long as anyone has wanted it to be.

I used to bring my boys a heart shaped cookie when I got in from work.

Wtf is wrong with people on this thread, trying to make it sound creepy? Ignore them OP, I think it's a nice idea.

When I was about 10 my mum bought me some silver hoop earrings and gave them to me on valentines morning and I thought it was the most grown up and special thing in the world - and now in my 30s I still wear them.

Any excuse to make your kids feel loved and important! My little girl is only tiny still, but I plan to get her a little gift (maybe a book) and we'll likely all go out for lunch and she can chuck a few bits of pasta about for me to scoop off the floor 😅

Barney16 · 11/02/2026 20:26

I did try once but all my children went eugh and various variations on mum you're so embarrassing, so that was the end of that. Whole tribe born cynical.

Heyitsmeeee · 11/02/2026 20:26

Would never do anything for my kids on valentines day as its about romance not kids. However after being married 20+ years we don't acknowledge it anyway. Always thought its a pointless day, I love him and tell him so all year round 🤷‍♀️

CharlotteSometimeslikesanafternoonnap · 11/02/2026 19:53

Nothing because that's weird. My ex mil used to send my then husband valentine's day cards - it's really fucking weird. And yes, she was doing it 30 years ago, so it's not new - but it's still fucking weird.

Weird to an adult DC. What’s weird about doing some crafts and having a heart shaped cake with a small human who says I love you every day. Sure, once they are older it becomes strange, just like Santa.
