To think without a key part of breakfast the price should be discounted

Just come to a local carvery chain to have breakfast. Its an unlimited breakfast -£11.48.

But they've got no bacon! Tbf they do tell you when you arrive, something to do with their supply chain. But bacon is a big part of breakfast! It's £11.45, that includes sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried eggs and cubes potatoes. Unlimited tea/coffee and toast. It's not put me off but would it put you off? Would you expect a discount?

Are people simple! It’s obviously HP brown sauce! Not gravy 😂😂

That much is not ‘clearly’ HP sauce. That’s drowning half the food on the plate! At the rate the absence of bacon makes no difference because you won’t be able to taste anything anyway

fishfingerbutty · 08/02/2026 15:13

It looks really horrible.

intrepidpanda · 08/02/2026 15:21

There is plenty to have breakfast out of. There is no legal definition of what constitutes a breakfast. Even if the only had eggs, so long as they were unlimited, it would be an unlimited breakfast

cannynotsay · 08/02/2026 15:46

how much pork do you need to eat

GoingForAGallop · 08/02/2026 15:48

It doesn’t look worth £11.48, not even half that.

Jackiepumpkinhead · 08/02/2026 15:58

Don’t know why anyone would waste calories on bacon medallions.

I think you can probably manage to have breakfast without bacon. I could easily fill up on yogurt, fruit etc.

But I did get annoyed once at a B&B which offered a full English but if you left early to get a flight (it was near Gatwick) you had to serve yourself a continental breakfast out of the fridge and they didn't knock anything off the price. Despite being near Gatwick and despite, presumably, having lots of people who stay and leave before the owners have even got out of bed.

That’s perfectly fine, they are allowed to have breakfast hours.

You’re lucky they offered you anything at all, it’s not their fault you had an early flight and couldn’t eat in the breakfast hours.

The kitchen can’t open just for you!

This is an exact repost, from a few weeks ago, if not from here then reddit, right down to the wording, so whats the point?

No it is not I can assure you. This is my first post on the subject. I only visited the place yesterday so you are wrong and owe me an apology please.

I like bacon but wouldn't care if there wasn't any. You were told beforehand about the lack of bacon so you could have gone elsewhere if it was that important to you. I certainly wouldn't expect a discount.

ParmaVioletTea · 09/02/2026 07:08

You know sausages are generally made of pork, don’t you?

Comebyshep · 09/02/2026 07:14

Discount??!

Either thoroughly entitled or an absolute chancer.

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 09/02/2026 07:29

As much as I find some of the hysteria about the breakfast amusing, I’m a little agog you’d even consider to get a discount for no bacon, what on earth would you do, ask them for a pound?

Err I was asking peoples opinions. I'm not entitled or a chancer! Bloody hell so judgey and assuming.

I ate the breakfast, said I enjoyed it. Just wondered what others thought. It was a buffet style, so you help yourself. I served it on the plate and yes, I do like lots of brown sauce. The eggs weren't undergone, they were spot on but sometimes photos don't come out looking glamorous depending on the lighting. I just slopped it on the plate, it all goes down the same way lol.

Dear God some of the replies on here are hilarious!

Some of the responses are insane I grant you, but equally as insane as considering asking for a discount at an all you can eat buffet as the bacon isn’t there,

I wouldn't pay for that anyway. It looks horrible. What's all the brown juice? Looks very unappetising. I wouldn't eat it even with bacon

Agree. It looks very unappetising, minus the bacon.

OP, if bacon is a must for your breakfast, just head off somewhere else that does have the full deal.

I think the fact you enjoyed it is your greatest sin. You need to accept that you are in the presence of very refined people that are just better than you. People who would never dream of eating (gasp!) a full English breakfast (well almost full), and are kindly offering you nutritional advice even though you didn't ask for it, because you are clearly not as well educated as them. Just make a full and grovelling apology to the resident nutrition nazis, and in future only eat breakfasts that resemble the sweepings from a budgie cage. But also, don't be a tightwad asking for discounts if they're missing one particular type of organic fairtrade seed.

The posters going on about unhealthy sausage and bacon etc are hilarious ....it's a carvery, you know what you are getting and it's not going to be oats and fish FFS 😂😂(except bacon this time sorry 😘)

Reallyneedsaholiday · 09/02/2026 15:31

I have to say that now you've stated that it was a "help yourself buffet" that I think YABU.

I did say in my OP that it was an 'unlimited breakfast' so thought that people would know what that meant.
