To think without a key part of breakfast the price should be discounted

Just come to a local carvery chain to have breakfast. Its an unlimited breakfast -£11.48.

But they've got no bacon! Tbf they do tell you when you arrive, something to do with their supply chain. But bacon is a big part of breakfast! It's £11.45, that includes sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried eggs and cubes potatoes. Unlimited tea/coffee and toast. It's not put me off but would it put you off? Would you expect a discount?

If it’s an unlimited breakfast, then of course it shouldn’t be discounted. It’s only bacon and you can eat as much of anything else as you want.

Itsmetheflamingo · 08/02/2026 10:17

Not at all. Restaurants run out of food on the menu all the time.

IzzyStardust · 08/02/2026 10:17

Those eggs look poached and undercooked. The yolks look raw.

Anewuser · 08/02/2026 10:18

You should only expect a refund if you asked for a bacon sandwich.

There was plenty of other food considering it was unlimited.

Eggs don’t looked cooked enough though, and tinned tomatoes? I think you could have got a better breakfast (with bacon) somewhere else.

Iwontbethere · 08/02/2026 10:24

Raw egg whites like that make me queasy to see.

All you can eat for £11 to contribute to costs of staff, electric, rates etc.is cheap.

Tempodrom · 08/02/2026 10:25

Those eggs look snotty. No black pudding or fried slice either 😱

I wouldn't pay for that anyway. It looks horrible. What's all the brown juice? Looks very unappetising. I wouldn't eat it even with bacon

Really? You have never seen brown sauce before??Confused

Wholelottawoman · 08/02/2026 10:28

An extra sausage might have helped with the disappointment x

I thought it was tinned tomatoes- it's not brown sauce.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 08/02/2026 10:31

Sorry OP, that looks disgusting.

JacknDiane · 08/02/2026 10:34

Nah that looks awful

JacknDiane · 08/02/2026 10:35

Honestly that looks minging

Even McDonald's would have been better

Ilovemychocolate · 08/02/2026 10:36

Did you honestly look at that plate of slop and think “oh joy!”
😆

KimberleyClark · 08/02/2026 10:37

Hash browns and cubed potatoes??

They've probably covered it in HP sauce.

It does look disgusting. I dont see how you can discount an all you can eat breakfast.

HeadyLamarr · 08/02/2026 10:43

Sausage or bacon, not necessarily both. But eggs are the non-negotiable.

MrsPerfect12 · 08/02/2026 10:44

No you sat down regardless knowing the score so that is acceptance.

DuchessofStaffordshire · 08/02/2026 10:44

The cost should be the least of your worries with that plate load.

Egglio · 08/02/2026 10:49

I would not expect a discount for no bacon.

But that is hands down the worst breakfast I have ever seen. Why does it have gravy?? WHY IS EVERYTHING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER!!

You would have to pay me to eat this.

FiftyShadesOfPurple · 08/02/2026 10:49

If you'd already ordered when you found out, then yes. Not if you ordered knowing there was no bacon.

I was once in a restaurant where someone ordered pate with an artisan bread roll as a starter. When they brought it out they apologised that there was no pate. So that would a bread roll, then, for £.8.95 🙄He did get them to take it off the bill but only after involving the manager

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/02/2026 10:53

I wouldn’t want those eggs anyway. Slimy uncooked white on top - 🤮.

zingally · 08/02/2026 10:53

I think as they told you on the door - therefore giving you the option (even if it wasn't reasonable for you personally, due to logistics, timings, etc) to go elsewhere, there's no leg to stand on.

Personally, I prefer a sausage on a cooked breakfast to bacon (I'm a bit fussy about how I like it!), so wouldn't have minded.

And all those people saying it looks horrible... I think it looks great! I'd happily eat it!

LeafyMcLeafFace · 08/02/2026 10:55

Why is there gravy on your breakfast?

Stangirsdottir · 08/02/2026 10:58

Apparently the brown gravy is likely brown sauce or HP sauce.

The white gloop on the egg yolk is undercooked egg white; and the plates are presumably quite small to discourage people overloading and then wasting food.

Xmasbaby11 · 08/02/2026 10:59

It's a shame if you normally have bacon but I wouldn't expect a discount as you can have more of other items.
