Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

Nuts should be banned from society given that they can kill those with allergies

Dairy, soya, eggs, strawberries, wheat, seafood and legumes amongst many can also kill people with allergies - want to remove every food?

KimberleyClark · 07/02/2026 08:09

Sweet chilli flavoured anything is vile (see also salted caramel)

And caramelised onion.

I cannot stand the Pogues (that god awful Christmas song)

At last! I despise it too!

Another one for Dickens being a completely dreadful writer. 2 dimensional characters, dull predictable stories and given the reverence that is completely at odds with his skill.

Thackeray, Wilkie Collins and Conan Doyle are all much better.

Remember he was writing at the same time as Mark Twain...

Baby formula should be marketer and used as a life-saving, ultra-processed medicine rather than an inconsequential choice (there would obviously need to be a societal move to holistically support breastfeeding)

I'd love to know how you envisage this one working. Are we talking about changing the NHS leaflets that a lot of women pay no attention to anyway, or are you thinking of something with more teeth ie over the counter restrictions?

FrostyFlo · 07/02/2026 08:13

There is a lot of bad parenting out there .

No - I don't need to talk to you / the dog if I come across you in a shop / cafe .

No thanks I don't want an emailed receipt to give you free range to send me marketing shit .

daisychain01 · 07/02/2026 08:13

@BlueEyedBogWitch he has been raising awareness long before his 90's and if you check my previous post you'll see that he pioneered new filming techniques bringing knowledge to a global audience about things they will never see. List of series goes back to the 1980s so he isn't just a wannaby sleb, jumping on the eco bandwagon. He has educated generations of people. Saying he couldnt be arsed to finish his Masters, well words fail me. Is that the best you can do?

There's no arguing with stupid, so I'll stop right there.

The Living Planet (1984),
The Blue Planet (2001),
Planet Earth (2006),
Frozen Planet (2011),
Blue Planet II (2017),
Seven Worlds, One Planet (2019), and
Planet Earth III (2023).

I've usually got some in my fridge. Next to the mayo.

My opinion divides many people into firm yes or no categories.

Shop bought condiments don't need to go in the fridge.
Home made ones do because they haven't got a bucket full of preservatives in them .

Mayo and salad cream are nice when used sparingly, I want to taste tuna with a hint of mayo , not one tin of tuna to half a jar of mayo.

People that add salt and pepper to a meal ( chips are the exception) before tasting it do it out of habit not because they think the food needs it.

I can’t stand any type of beer or lager. Whenever I’m out anywhere it seems to be all men and women drink.

This is only unpopular on MN.
In the outside world it’s pretty standard.
People can feel like they’ve been born in the wrong body without it being sinister.
The two examples I know are girls who believe they should have been born a boy.
For one it was immediate and obvious before he could talk.
For the other it was clear his mental health and wellbeing was severely impacted, ie if he’d not had a supportive family he might not be here.
I want to ask if the majority of you believe this situation is not something you believe is possible, what would you do if it was your child?
why has this always existed?
FYI I did have more ‘TERF’ beliefs before I saw evidence with my own eyes. Or got to know trans women and men.

My worry about the whole anti trans vibe on here is that most of you don’t have any direct experience so it’s a bit like those boomer men who live in all white villages and think anyone from a non white background is dodgy, ie Reform voters.
I am not trying to fuel something here but I just don’t get it and wonder how some of you would react if your child declared they were transgender and were genuinely distressed.

I would support them but not their right to be in certain spaces. Two things can be true at the same time.

And cars too?

I have never heard of anybody been allergic to cars.

Amberlynnswashcloth · 07/02/2026 08:21

I really didn't enjoy breastfeeding. The sensation of the milk moving through and then hearing the baby swallow it made me want to gag.

People keep blaming capitalism for the UK’s woes and I actually think theres not enough capitalism. We have the most expensive infrastructure builds in Europe because we insist on letting every tom dick and harry object to everything the sheer . Public spending is a vacuum and we don’t leave people with enough money to actually encourage proper growth. Taxes are making peoples lives worse it’s not that there aren’t enough benefits.

Some capitalism has neen bad for the UK.

Not just that, unless you grow your own herbs, you will have to buy a bag and use just a bit. Then the rest just turns to mush in your fridge.

You've not read the thread about stuff that freezes well..

I am talking about it becoming illegal to advertise formula at all, and it coming in plain boxes with no marketing or branding at all. I am talking about round-the-clock, hands-on, in-person support for all women to establish breastfeeding. I am talking about a proper recovery window following labour and birth, not "back on the school run in 12 hours". I am talking 6 months of full pay for maternity (not to be shared with partners, there can be additional for that) leave. I am talking about human milk being understood to have inherent value. I am talking about early feeding choices being seen as at least as important as what school you choose or whether a child shares a bedroom. I am talking about the "benefits of breastfeeding" being reframed as "the risks of not breastfeeding".

I do NOT blame individual women for their feeding "choices" - though with 85% of women saying they would like to breastfeed, I don't believe it is a free choice for most. I DO blame society and capitalism for not supporting them. Leaflets are neither here nor bloody there.

Tableforjoan · 07/02/2026 08:33

I still hate Jamie Oliver and blame him for getting rid of turkey twizzlers. The proper ones not the ones that came back a few years ago.

We are allowed some unhealthy joy ffs

StMichaelPenkevil · 07/02/2026 08:36

People who don’t stop chatting to each other, and especially to their kids, and take the time to watch cabin crew run through the safety demonstration should be shot.

Cabin crew are there to save lives not dish out drinks and should be shown some respect whilst they show how to have a better chance of surviving a plane crash.

What are we teaching our children if we don’t show them how to behave towards professionals doing their job.

Right, long as you're not proposing any limits on the availability of formula and we'll be allowed to say no thank you to this support then have at it. Couldn't tell from what you wrote whether that was what you were after or not.
