Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

Wide legged or bootlegged jeans don't balance out wider hips especially If you're not tall. They just make you (me!) look like a short, fat cylinder.

I think that depends on your body shape and leg length.

Parents only like consequences when they aren't for their child, otherwise they complain their child is being wronged. Schools can't do anything because they aren't being allowed to. These days parents don't seem to believe their child can tell anything but the truth, when in reality all children will probably lie at some point.

Meanwhile, Ofsted are concerning themselves with consistent handwriting and children being made to feel they 'belong'. I think Ofsted is even worse than ever before and needs to become an advisory and improvement support, rather than merely a judge.

I don't think it's really relevant, or shouldn't be relevant, what parents believe about their own children though. I think it's a good indication what a mess education is in that they don't have the authority to set real boundaries for pupils. It's common knowledge that children need and thrive on firm boundaries but there has definitely been a strange dilution of them even while we reinforce the principle of personal body autonomy.

My daughter has been in trouble once in school and I thought there was an element of her consequences that was particularly harsh, especially compared to things sometimes other children do, and do repeatedly and get away with, while for her it was one thing in her entire six years there, so of course we don't necessarily like it, but it is necessary. My daughter did learn an important, although harsh, lesson (and that lesson also included the contradictions of consequences in school). Maybe parents could do with some enforced boundaries as well.

Bacon smells and tastes vile.

I absolutely support this opinion!

Pork bacon at least.

Allseeingallknowing · 07/02/2026 13:51

To the poster who said the Royal Family don’t bring in more than they cost- surely that’s not an unpopular opinion it’s a fact, whether true or not which should be backed up by evidence?

Oh no, the woman in my work that I've had a ridiculous crush on for years is about 5' 4" and has wider hips and she really suits bootcut jeans. Or do you mean more flare types?

McDonald's is perfectly fine to have

Wearing odd socks is odd, not quirky

See I was wondering about this
I have two pairs of smartwool socks, on pair black one pair red
each pair have a hole under the heel........
If I keep to the hill would it be acceptable to wear one of each?

Rosie Jones is as funny as explosive diarrhoea.
In your pants
On a packed train

The OP says “unpopular” opinions 😂

I don't care. For some reason that I cannot explain, I think he's pretty hot 🫢

If he were the village postman, he wouldn't get a second look! The eyes too close together is an unfortunate feature most of the RF suffer from.

You're an adult do what you like!

I do quite often end up wearing odd socks due to being colourblind. It's one thing I really can't be arsed wasting time on

No-one needs to take a bottle of water around with them all the time.

Some have medical conditions where they have to drink large quantities of of water, eg Polycythemia Vera.

My unpopular opinion is that people who say 'if you don't like a thread, don't read it' don't understand how the internet works.

And people who try and police threads don’t understand how MN works.

ToffeePennie · 07/02/2026 13:59

All alcohol is utterly vile and I can’t understand why you would drink stuff that burns and tastes like floor cleaner smells!

The only way people who pass do so is by extensive surgery. And that is no gotcha.

I don’t know if you read the whole post, I apologise as it was long, but I was talking about two people that passed without surgery.

The MTF trans friend of mine passed long before she even started taking hormones. She has only had gender reassignment surgery, nothing on her face and opted not to get breast implants.

My FTM relative has only had work done to his chest. Nothing that you’d be able to see upon meeting him. Otherwise it’s just testosterone.

I think extensive plastic surgery is a luxury most people can’t afford and the trans people you see that do get it are in the media, where everyone is getting it!

Margaritasforthewin · 07/02/2026 14:04

I also wear odd socks because I have a bag for life of the bloody things! And once I have sorted the easy ones in the bag they go. I’m lazy as, but tell myself isn’t eco.
Really want to put a free Dobby sign on it.
Yes I’m that uncool cringe person.
