Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

I think the labelling has got out of hand when a whole shipment of , eg, peanuts is recalled because, while 'peanuts' are listed as ingredients in peanuts they are not stated in bold. Seem such a waste.

I personally wish 90% of stuff doesn't say on the label "may contain nuts".
My son who has a nut allergy literally can't eat any shop made cakes and all sorts of things (including his previously loved filled naans). Can't factories keep nuts the fuck away from stuff? I'll be making my own birthday cakes for the rest of my life

rememberingthem · 07/02/2026 08:38

People who publicly correct a person’s spelling or grammar are dickheads, same goes for people who publicly correct a person’s pronunciation of a word!

HideousKinky · 07/02/2026 08:40

The Olympic Games are bloody tedious (winter or otherwise)
I get asked, did you watch the opening ceremony?
No I didn't, all that insufferable flag waving and endless marching about

I am talking about it becoming illegal to advertise formula at all, and it coming in plain boxes with no marketing or branding at all. I am talking about round-the-clock, hands-on, in-person support for all women to establish breastfeeding. I am talking about a proper recovery window following labour and birth, not "back on the school run in 12 hours". I am talking 6 months of full pay for maternity (not to be shared with partners, there can be additional for that) leave. I am talking about human milk being understood to have inherent value. I am talking about early feeding choices being seen as at least as important as what school you choose or whether a child shares a bedroom. I am talking about the "benefits of breastfeeding" being reframed as "the risks of not breastfeeding".

I do NOT blame individual women for their feeding "choices" - though with 85% of women saying they would like to breastfeed, I don't believe it is a free choice for most. I DO blame society and capitalism for not supporting them. Leaflets are neither here nor bloody there.

The problem is, my baby lost far too much weight during their first few days when I was desperate to exclusively breastfeed. I tried absolutely everything to get my milk supply going - pumping every two hours day and night, non-stop skin to skin, medication, I’ve worked with three different lactation consultants….nothing helped, even during my pregnancy I never felt anything at all in my breasts, no tenderness, nothing changed. My midwife eventually said that I might not physically be able to produce breast milk. These first weeks of my baby’s life where incredibly stressful for me, the last thing I’d have needed is additional guilt hearing about the ‘risks of not breastfeeding’ (which I was and am well aware of anyway).

People keep blaming capitalism for the UK’s woes and I actually think theres not enough capitalism. We have the most expensive infrastructure builds in Europe because we insist on letting every tom dick and harry object to everything the sheer . Public spending is a vacuum and we don’t leave people with enough money to actually encourage proper growth. Taxes are making peoples lives worse it’s not that there aren’t enough benefits.

It's letting people object to planning permission that stopped our housing developer landlord knock down the house we rent from him and build more houses on the vast bit of land it sits on. We avoided another eviction

People who don’t stop chatting to each other, and especially to their kids, and take the time to watch cabin crew run through the safety demonstration should be shot.

Cabin crew are there to save lives not dish out drinks and should be shown some respect whilst they show how to have a better chance of surviving a plane crash.

What are we teaching our children if we don’t show them how to behave towards professionals doing their job.

Absolutely agree with this and will add on people who completely ignore any announcement over the PA system by cabin crew and then ask stupid unnecessary questions later on.

Mishmosher · 07/02/2026 08:42

Inheritance tax is a legitimate tax. Most people’s estates fall into it due to untaxed house price gains, and it’s fair enough for these gains to taxed before the significant windfall passes to you’re kids without them doing anything whatsoever to have earned it.

Unpopular opinion? Sophie Ellis Bextor singing sounds like fingernails scratching down a blackboard.

This is only unpopular on MN.
In the outside world it’s pretty standard.
People can feel like they’ve been born in the wrong body without it being sinister.
The two examples I know are girls who believe they should have been born a boy.
For one it was immediate and obvious before he could talk.
For the other it was clear his mental health and wellbeing was severely impacted, ie if he’d not had a supportive family he might not be here.
I want to ask if the majority of you believe this situation is not something you believe is possible, what would you do if it was your child?
why has this always existed?
FYI I did have more ‘TERF’ beliefs before I saw evidence with my own eyes. Or got to know trans women and men.

My worry about the whole anti trans vibe on here is that most of you don’t have any direct experience so it’s a bit like those boomer men who live in all white villages and think anyone from a non white background is dodgy, ie Reform voters.
I am not trying to fuel something here but I just don’t get it and wonder how some of you would react if your child declared they were transgender and were genuinely distressed.

My experience (as a secondary school teacher in a girls' school) is of social contagion, kids who change their names/pronouns and change back again a couple of years later, and vulnerable and/or ASD girls who are struggling and probably see it as an escape from something (and are probably chronically online and being influenced).

BlackCat14 · 07/02/2026 08:44

Jenny and Lee on Gogglebox are really annoying and not funny.

Mummysgonetobed · 07/02/2026 08:45

Avocado is the devils work.

white socks over leggings with trainers - vile

dogs should not be allowed in restaurants/shops etc (exception of service dogs)

vaping should be illegal

Mishmosher · 07/02/2026 08:47

Dogs shouldn’t be off lead in public. If you want to let your dog off their lead, get a big enough garden. If you can’t afford a house with a big garden, tough!

Most people are ignorant of the dangers of drinking alcohol, even in small quantities. If they were, a lot fewer people would drink, and people wouldn’t question why others abstain.
Make sure you know about the condition cirrhosis of the liver, if you don’t already.

Agreed, also alcohol is carcinogenic.

People demonise sugar far too much, but don’t seem to understand that alcohol is also a sugar - but toxic, and it’s 7 calories per gram as opposed to 4 calories a gram.

daisychain01 · 07/02/2026 08:13

@BlueEyedBogWitch he has been raising awareness long before his 90's and if you check my previous post you'll see that he pioneered new filming techniques bringing knowledge to a global audience about things they will never see. List of series goes back to the 1980s so he isn't just a wannaby sleb, jumping on the eco bandwagon. He has educated generations of people. Saying he couldnt be arsed to finish his Masters, well words fail me. Is that the best you can do?

There's no arguing with stupid, so I'll stop right there.

The Living Planet (1984),
The Blue Planet (2001),
Planet Earth (2006),
Frozen Planet (2011),
Blue Planet II (2017),
Seven Worlds, One Planet (2019), and
Planet Earth III (2023).

They’re someone’s child. What a totally callous way to describe them.

Chilli and ginger ruin food

Tell me you don’t eat good and flavourful food without telling me

Costell9 · 07/02/2026 08:51

GoldenPearls · 06/02/2026 22:29

i am unpopular :
don't get women's drinks or girls nights out , don't get school what's app, don't get playdates, children's parties, don't need a car and therefore don't have a driving licence

Can you elaborate on each of your points please?
What is it exactly that you don't get about each of the things you've listed?
I'm asking because I feel EXACTLY the same but keep it to myself and don't tell anyone because I thought I was the only woman in the world that feels like this 😂
So I'd love to hear your reasons for not getting all this stuff!

billysboy · 07/02/2026 08:51

cannot abide craft beer of any description especially craft lager , just let it taste like normal lager rather than trying to make it taste like bitter

if i go to a pub , let me sit at the bar rather than be ushered off to a table and then wait to be served

love the bbc and dont mind paying the licence fee either I think its good value

Tube shaped macaroni tastes better than the bent macaroni

This here is fighting talk.....I don't like straight macaroni, neither do my children. Curved macaroni all the way (and yes I know they are made of the same dough).

Hm I'd be up for universal 5 star care for all 3 and under actually. But I think in general our biggest problem is spending everything on people who can or will never contribute and nothing on the people who will. Those who go out to hunt for the tribe should eat first X it's a wisdom as old as our species.

So that would be people seriously disabled from birth or in childhood. Oh and as these people are not valuable presumably their care givers unless they have these children very young and might be able to work after that.

FullLondonEye · 07/02/2026 08:54

I think a lot of these aren't unpopular opinions at all, quite the opposite.

However...

  • Chavs exist.
  • Some names/behaviours/looks are chavvy and will cause the recipient to be judged, possibly unfairly. Chavdom is a choice and you are free to avoid it if you wish. If you don't then I don't think it's reasonable to object to being judged on it.
  • Not everybody who can't spell is dyslexic.
  • Poor spelling and grammar do make a person look a bit thick.
  • Those who believe the above opinions are horrible and say they never judge others based upon their appearance or other ways they initially present themselves are lying. They do. We all do because that's just human nature.

Those are my unpopular opinions and yes, they're all very unpleasant. I know. In my defence I am delighted to be proved wrong on any of these judgements as I get to know the person better.

Huge proportion all children are noisy, spoilt little shits with parents who don't parent.
