Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

ADHD is mostly just lazy parenting.

John Lennon didn’t write a single decent melody after he left the Beatles. Imagine is the worst offender of all. It’s a dirge.

Edited

'Imagine' is the worst thing ever done by a human being. Including everything ever done by humans or Robbie Williams.

SAHM isn’t a job if children are in school

Edited

Agree. I once read a newspaper article which was the diary of a SAHM detailing all her household chores, cooking, school drop off, helping kids with homework et etc. I thought ‘I do all these things AND I work full time. Fuck off, you tosser’

No it isn't. I think some parents push for a diagnosis to get additional benefits.
ADHD is a physiological condition where part of the brain has taken different pathways.

Appointing male safeguarding leads in schools seems like an unnecessary safeguarding risk in a profession that is around 80% women.

Bringemout · 07/02/2026 05:52

People keep blaming capitalism for the UK’s woes and I actually think theres not enough capitalism. We have the most expensive infrastructure builds in Europe because we insist on letting every tom dick and harry object to everything the sheer . Public spending is a vacuum and we don’t leave people with enough money to actually encourage proper growth. Taxes are making peoples lives worse it’s not that there aren’t enough benefits.

I think most local news is close to that anyway.

Which is what makes local news a bit boring.

All of human evolution is the brain taking different pathways, otherwise we would all be AI slop.
Every person on the planet is neuro-divergent, I just think that the push for ADHD in children is driven by a refusal by a lot of parents to accept that their child isn't the next Stephen Hawking, more Justin Hawkins.

Absolutely yes. If he was around today he'd be writing scripts for Eastenders rather than being lauded as some kind of literary genius. He churned out maudlin, cheesy pap by the yard.

Dickens kept the nation on tenterhooks because all his major novels were published as weekly or monthly serials, with lots of cliffhangers. They were popular with the working class because they were in an affordable format. They were maudlin and depressing for a reason, shining a spotlight in poverty, lack of sanitation, minimal education for the most vulnerable in society,

having to read through Bleak House at school, I thought it was dull as ditchwater but I think if I read it now, I'd see it differently. It was a record of life in Victorian times.

He would have been a brilliant scriptwriter for Eastenders!

And yes to the names - parents really should put a bit of thought into choosing a name that will stand their child in good stead for the future. Rightly or wrongly people will judge the Jayden/Baydon/Kaydon/Jaxon/Klaxon's of this world and it's unfair to limit their chances in life.

In the UK, very probably. In many other parts of the world no-one cares two figs what anyone is called.

Interesting, didn't know name snobbery wasn't a thing everywhere. Guess it's a class thing which we seem to be big on in the UK.
Trying to think of an American equivalent - surely calling your kid something junior eg John-boy Junior after their dad isn't going to get him into Harvard etc? I may be wrong...

Private landlords have traded on their sheer good luck in life (and it is OFTEN by sheer luck) to profiteer on others for a basic human need. And should be …(if I wrote what ireally felt I’d be banned from the site!) ashamed at their disgusting greed

Don't get me started on LotSW! It wasn't even funny in the 80s. Retired men "larking about" in a 1950s Yorkshire sit-com....in fact what era is it even meant to be set in?! Dull as dishwater.
Mrs Brown's Boys is also awful - but feel this is probably a popular opinion!

When you spend 5 days a week, sometimes for up to three or so years, caring for the same children, many families consider you an integral part of raising them. The bonds formed between daycare staff and the children in their care can be incredibly strong. If you still consider the people in these roles to be strangers, you are af the wrong childcare facility.

Never used one.

Yes of course this is true because men go around duffing each other up in pubs and at the end of night club sessions.

So you are seemingly fine with women being abused by people they know more than those they do not know?

And as a matter of fact women are at risk in public places from low level abuse especially at night time.

but bunny you are a TRA aren’t you

My point is that men don't get continuously warned patronisingly about going out on their own at night, when statistically they are more in danger. I'm not saying women aren't at risk, I'm saying this discord is incorrect and designed as a way to control and also blame women for when it does happen (think how we're told not to wear revealing clothing).

If we're going to be warned of anyone, it should be our husbands. The stranger danger trope is a distraction from the real threat in our own homes.

MissingSockDetective · 07/02/2026 06:46

Schools are teaching too much because the curriculum is too large.

Parents need to step up and do parenting , including basics like toilet training, teeth brushing, cooking, reading etc.

Tea is the best drink ever.

Squishmallows are better than jellycats.

WLIs spell the end of personal responsibility for your weight. It’s all about ‘food noise’ and medicalising the problem.

I think I am the only person left who gains weight when I eat more, and loses it when I have more willpower. In my fifties, I have to ignore the ‘food noise’ and eat very little to stay slim. It’s very very hard at times. But that’s what I do as I am responsible for my own weight.
